Dennis Jacobs Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Lo banger chaps, I'm workin on a model of an XJS. It's a diecast 1:18 model. I will put some pics on here so you guys can see the progress. Any help or other comments are welcome as this is my first atempt. I'm not yet sure who's car i'm going to make. I was thinkin about 09 Andy Holmes, but that's rather difficult to paint. So maybe it's going to be a Gladiators car. (easier to paint ) If anyone has some pics of the back or front side of an XJS Banger, please send them to me. I have some difficulties with the back side of the car. I don't know what to do with the back bumper. if i take it of it leaves a big hole, so maybe if i see some pics i can recreate a backside myself. Here are some pics of the stripped car.
Dennis Jacobs Posted November 22, 2006 Author Report Posted November 22, 2006 Thanks Ernie. keep those pics commin guys (paintjob idea's, details, etc.)
xTx Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 could you remove the bumper and block/fill the holes?
xTx Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 (edited) I had a trawl around and found these. If you hit the bottom link, enter the site, then use the bar on the left to scroll down to Jaguar XJS then you'll find a nice pink rear shot! Most drivers seem to remove the rear bumper from what i can see. Hope these are a help, xTx http://www.tim-catley.co.uk/Coventry20/photo32.html http://www.tim-catley.co.uk/Hendo81/photo15.html http://www.tim-catley.co.uk/Hendo81/photo35.html http://www.tim-catley.co.uk/Stday19/photo02.html http://www.tim-catley.co.uk/Stday19/photo09.html http://www.geocities.com/atozofbangerracing/index.html Edited November 22, 2006 by xTx
Haadee#525 Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 cut sum bits out on front panels, bonnet bolts and a fin btw where did you get that model from ??
Dennis Jacobs Posted November 22, 2006 Author Report Posted November 22, 2006 Thanks for the pics sofar guys. @ godfather: I got the model from a modelcar shop (Patrick's hobby shop) in my town. I was lucky to find it, he had only one of it. For the dutch guys: you can also take a look at this online webshop. http://www.nascar.nl/ Here's an update on the car.
Fasternie Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 I think you should keep the backbumper on it, the whole at the back is too large now imo
mcrew Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Can you not get a piece of plastic sheet and super glue in place for a back panel? Be sure to post some finished pics of it.
rcbanger Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 Hee Dennis this looks great!! greetz marcel!
Haadee#525 Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 here again a pic of a jag XJS [attachmentid=11637]
Dennis Jacobs Posted December 17, 2006 Author Report Posted December 17, 2006 Been a long time, but here's another update. I didn't have much time to work on the model, but i done a few things. I cut out the light holes in the front and the back, also solved the problem with the back bumper (think it looks pretty good right now), and i made a little adjustment to the front. I cut out a piece of sheet metal wich i have to fix at the front to get the front the same a real life car looks like. It's the holes where i think the front bumper should be on a real life car (just underneath the headlight holes). The model didn't have that peice, so i made that myself. (comments always welcome as you know) and the tools that made it all possible.
