swerve Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 The council in Manchester installed some retractable bollards to stop people using bus lanes. It's causing a bit of uproar with the public. Click on the link to find out why... PS keep an eye on the windscreen of the white van... http://www.biertijd.com/mediaplayer/flvpla...rue&fs=true
Rikard Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 haha, be funny if they used high pressure pneumatic air canisters to fire the bollards, then would launch the cars sky high lol. Funny thing is, I bet people who watch this would still give it a go lol They're solid though, watch this Truck loaded with sand take one on... and just for the hell of it, watch this insane jacking train, the first 2 cars just disapear! the granada on the end seems fine though Click here They are only crash tests so no one was inside.
erik Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 (edited) There aren't bus lanes up here, but I don't like the concept of them. Clarkson once said something to this effect.."Why do the poor need to get to where they are going any more than you?" (addressing someone who owned a car), which I agree with. I can't help but wonder how the bollards etc distinguish between a bus and anything else? Edited November 28, 2006 by erik
swerve Posted November 28, 2006 Author Report Posted November 28, 2006 (edited) I guess there must be some kind transponder/chip or something, to put in the bus etc that are allowed to use the route which then activate the bollards Edited November 28, 2006 by swerve
