Number allocations.

Hello all,

 

I was just wondering, how do they determine the number allocations for the cars over there? It seems a lot of races have cars with the same number prefix ie: 765, 777, 789, 712, etc. Are you just allowed to pick whatever number you want, or is there a formula?

I only now from brisca that you give up a number but is it not available then they choose a nummer what looks like it like 20 but then 820 or something like that
