Mr Beef Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 I can run it with everything on full at 45fps minimum on P4 3Gig 1 Gig ram Radeon 9800 Pro. I choose to run with everything on medium and I get 65fps minimum. Mr Beef
Fourwinds Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 (edited) I think the graphics card used is a big factor ... I recently went from a 7800GT to the new 8800GT and my framerates went from: 800x600 (low settings) averaging around 40 fps 1680x1050 (high settings) staying mostly around 60fps This is on a system that has: AMD X2 4400+ (939 pin) 2Gb RAM Edited January 8, 2008 by Fourwinds
matthew413 Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 And its probably only 60 cos you've got vsync on and your monitor is set to 60hz. rFactor is childs play for an 8800 series card. I've got a Radeon x800gto2 (which is now a couple of generations old), a 939 X2 4200 and 2gb ram and I normally get 60fps at 1280x1024, dropping to ~40 when its really busy.

Vsync basically ties your framerate to the speed your monitor is running at. With some monitors/graphics cards if the image is moving much faster than the monitor you get screen tearing which vsync solves.

That spec will be more than enough for rFactor I just built a new machine for our CAD department at work, Quad Core 6800 with an 8800gt, just got to find a way to sneak it home now...
