Good news for us and the lads who still have their old Hot Rods.

A new club has formed and they are trying to revive all the original pre 1982 Hot Rods to compete against the Modsports and Special Saloons in Circuit and Speed events.

There seems to be quite a lot of activity and a lot of the lads are discussing putting their Hot Rod Ford Anglias,Toyota Starlets etc in this HMSA Historic Modsports and Saloon Association, www.historicmodsportsandsaloons.com

I have an Ex Collard Ford Anglia with an all steel BDG engine, space framed and racing tyres,so should be pretty quick at most UK circuits.

We will join and hopefully when this HMSA grows we can really get active, race and promote our Historic Hot Rods.

How many other pre 1982 Hot Rods out there, post any photos, car and driver histories here on this forum.

Its funny how little things tell you you're getting old, Toyota Starlets were the contempory tool, now its an historic rod! Saw plenty of these on the long track at Lydden back in the early 90's, would be great to get em dusted off and racing again.

My old man built a cosworth engined toyota starlet, it has the hot rod body kit fitted

If its a pre 1982 Hot Rod and the Cosworth engine is a derarative or the same family of engine it used pre 1982 the HMSA may allow it as long as the Cosworth engine is a pre 1982 unit itself it can have many modern modifications.

Reading the rules of this Historic Modsports and Saloon Association its allowing space frames and race slicks,so pretty friendly rules to help the owners of these cars

A lot of us who had Toyota Starlets fitted the Warrior engine and years ago I use to lap Lydden in a 42 to 43 seconds.

Post some pics and details.
