Straight of UK-Dirt website:

Converting a skin

If you have your CARxxx.TGA (required format), you will need to convert it to a .TEX file so the game can use it. If you have a PSP or PSD file, you will need to save it as a .TGA file, 24-bit uncompressed. You may need to flatten the image first, if layers were used.

To convert the file follow these steps:

- Open My Computer, and go to the directory in which you have saved the TGA file. (Copy MKTEX.EXE here if it is not already there)

- Click 'Start', 'Run...', and type COMMAND in the box and press OK. This will open a MS-DOS window, with the correct directory selected.

- Type MKTEX CARxxx.TGA CARxxx.TEX with xxx being your car number. This must be below 1000.

If it working correctly it will pause for a couple of seconds then return to the window. There is no confirmation that it is correct.

- Close the MS-DOS window.

- Copy the new CARxxx.TEX file to the directory of the mod for which u painted the skin.

Works fine here...........

Make sure ur in the right directory. Mine is c:\documents and settings\MC\...........

Take a look at the mktex file. If its in caps, then use caps..........MKTEX.EXE. If not, then not off course.
