Piet Keijzer Trophy STOLEN !!!!!!

Straight from the stoxnet-forum...........

It has just come to light / to my attention this morning via my contact in Holland that the Piet Keijzer Memorial Trophy is missing and it's whereabouts unknown.

My friend made contact with H29 Durk Greidanus to make arrangements for the trophy to be returned so that it was back in the UK at Coventry for WF night. Durk informed him that he doesn't have the trophy and hasn't had or seen it since the World Final at Kings Lynn last year.

It appears that the car became unattached from the trophy base after the trophy was presented to him on the infield at KL and someone approached him and told him that he had made the trophy and would fix it for him. Durk handed him the trophy and it hasn't been seen since.

I built the trophy with the help of John Nunn, Joe Barlow and Sophie Clark and I have been in touch with them this morning and non of them know anything about it.

It appears that somebody approached Durk, gave him misleading information and made off with the trophy / model.

So basically as nobody knows the trophy's location, we can only treat it as having been stolen !

The trophy is a bespoke item that was hand built over a very short time span with alot of time and effort put in by all involved. The model itself taking many hours and alot of very late nights to get it done in time for its first presentation at the NIR WF in 2005. Several forum members and fans also contributed to the costs of the trophy.

The trophy is presented annually to the highest placed Dutch driver in the World Final, as a tribute to Piet Keijzer from the UK stock car fans.

It is a large trophy which consists of a wood and glass display case about a foot square, with a metal checker plate base on which the model of Piets car sits, along with a Union Jack flag on one side and a Dutch flag on the other side. It has a silver plaque on the front which reads "In Memory Of Piet Keijzer From UK Stock Car Fans".

If anybody has seen either the trophy or the model from the trophy in the last 12 months or knows it's whereabouts, or has any information that could help us locate the trophy. Please get in touch with me either by PM or e mail at csc24@blueyonder.co.uk

We really want to get this back as it was a very special one off item created to honour a driver that put alot of years into stock car racing both in Holland and the UK and it is not something that we can replace.

If there are any Dutch racing forums, please could somebody copy and post this message on there for me as well, as I don't have any information on if it was a English or Dutch person that approached Durk at KL last year.

Thanks

Chris Clark

If anyone has info about this, please contact Chris Clark.........

as taken on the ftooz forum.

I have just been contacted by a forum member who has the trophy safe but still damaged at his home after some mix up and confusion at the WF at Kings Lynn last year.

A Dutch lady handed it to a BriSCA official saying that it was damaged and the official gave it to the forum member for safe keeping while the official tried to find the person who had built it (me) so that i could repair it. The official didn't know it was me who had built the trophy so he never found me.

As a result, the trophy ended up in the possession of the forum member who has it stored in his spare room.

But at least the trophy although still damaged and needing repair, it has been located and will be brought to Coventry on Saturday for me to repair.

It has been decided though after consultation with my contact from Team Keijzer that since H29 Durk Greidanus never got to take the trophy home last year and hold it for a year, then the fair thing to do would be to send the trophy back to Holland via another Dutch driver so that Durk can keep the trophy until next year.

This obviously means that the trophy won't be presented this year as a result which hopefully the recipient this year will understand. Louis and William Hocking who were drawn out of the hat to present the trophy this year will be given the chance to present the trophy next year if they still wish to do so.

Thanks you to everyone for your help and goes to show that the forums are very useful. Otherwise this trophy would still be lost. Thankfully it wasn't stolen though.

Regards

Chris
