Hello wonder if you can help,

Ive recently installed a router/ADSL Modem, Im currently running on BT broadband

Ive set it all up, had it working, connected to the internet with both my PC and Mac. Setup file sharing between PC and my Apple Powerbook all working fine

Well i have turned pc off overnight..... come back in the morning and the internet on the main PC (one the router is connected to) is not working? It is telling me the network has LTD or no connectivity?? All filesharing has also stopped working, as it will not connect to each other.

However, the internet on the Powerbook is still working??? (Hense how i can post this message!!)

Anyone know what my problem is?? Can anyone help??

Thanks Mitch  shrug.gif

Had a quick search around and it seens a problem with Windows SP2 might be the cause of the problem. The info on it can be found Here if you cant access this, below is what it says.

If you have installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 and are experiencing any of the following symptoms, this bug is affecting your system.

After installing Windows XP SP2, your network connection reports a problem with "Limited or No Connectivity"

You have trouble connecting to the Internet or your local area network after installing Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Your network connection gets stuck "Acquiring IP Address"

If you are receiving this error, you should run the Microsoft patch (KB884020) for it. Follow the instructions below to do this. Alternatively, you can download a zip file with the patch, registry file, and instructions by clicking here.

1) Download the patch from Microsoft's site

2) Run the update to install it

3) Run this short Registry fix to complete the update. Type the following lines in Notepad and save the file as FixReg.reg on your desktop, then double click on it to install into your registry.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\IPSec]

"AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule"=dword:00000002

4) Reboot your computer

If you experience the error message again, reboot your computer first. In most cases this will solve many connectivity issues that are not associated with this SP2 bug.

Hope this solves the problem, if not i havnt got a clue as to what else is causing this.

Thanks mate, somethings still not right because its acting bit dodgy lol! Its back working though for now! Everthing seems to be working, i installed patch and reg entry, that didnt work, changed the filter, that didnt work, tweaked a few things lol dont know what pressed a few buttons, and that didnt work!

In the end i installed the other download, something about restoring TCP/IP?? That seemed to do the trick!

Thanks for your help Leek
