If you don't believe me, when I were a lad, this was about as close as you got to racing stock cars on a computer:

The cars actually did slide and you could bump other cars out of the way

 

 

Then there was this which I remember being advertised as mail order in the back of Stock Car Monthly/Magazine in about 1985 and I always wondered what it was about. Well, someone put it on an archive site so here it is:
