UKDirt F1 2015 Rule Changes & Fixtures

Remember there is the traditional Pre-Season Warmup Meeting this Thursday (05 March), please consider taking this opportunity to give the real-life skins a run out (and testing the fabulously recreated Birmingham Wheels track), while (re-)familiarising yourself with the UKDirt F1 meeting format.

 

This season (2015) we will also introduce a few small changes to the UKDirt F1 rules:

  • The Shootout Series is reduced to six rounds (dropping half of the drivers after the first three rounds, format otherwise unchanged).
  • Novice skins will not be permitted in championship races.
  • Any driver earning 5DP or more in a single meeting will be allocated an additional 2DP.
  • The meeting point scoring system has been adjusted (after comprehensive discussion and evaluation within the admin group):

    Heats: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

    A-Final: 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5

    B-Final: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (minimum 10 drivers to be point scoring)

    GN: 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2

    The intent is to bring the point scoring bias back closer to real life and reward final performances more than heats. This is difficult as we race a multi-heat format however I am confident that we have struck a good balance and hope that this season will reflect that.

  • As a result of the increase to points available from a normal meeting the World Final scoring has also been adjusted (200, 45, 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5). In addition the World Champion now has the option to take normal final points (50) and continue racing the meeting.
  • As a result of the increase to points available from a normal meeting the cut-off for white top drivers to be eligible for consideration for "instant-upgrade" to yellow has increased to 50 points.
  • As a result of the increase to points available from a normal meeting the World Championship qualifying rounds raced at the end of the 2014 season have been re-scored in line with the 2015 system, the points table on the UKDirt website is up to date.
As usual I would ask all drivers intending to take part in the 2015 season to please look over the rules. Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse.
