Checks, fading, waving etc

hey guys whats the best way to get effects with checks like this:

The wave effect

use the " wavey cheqs " decal

 

Fade effect ( psp7 )

you select the eraser tool and set the opacity to a low number ( 10-30 or similar ) and just run the eraser over the edge of the cheqs and you will how it works hopefully
