You are most probably right there Harry.. Well I'll have a lot of downloading from both ukdirt and somuk anyway,, and hoping I'll get everything loaded and checked out to see if it all works prior to even think about putting even one turn of a tyre on the track/s..it seems to be a lot to take in for a noob/newbie like myself As I am a dyslexic, and finding I a little daunting to take everything in all at once,, that's why I been posting a few questions, if you know what I mean Dave

As you all know I'm still waiting on the purchase of my new laptop, of which I have found on a large superstore webpage,, mentioning no names (but every little helps) is there slogan.. I know it's probably not the best thing to use at first,, using just the keyboard keys as the loud peddle (throttle) plus the brake and steer left or right depending on the formula raced. Is there anyone who raced with the keys on a keyboard prior to getting a wheel and peddles setup ? I am hoping to get if anyone is interested to know,, I'm getting the LENOVO G50-45 laptop,, I hope that is enough for what I want to do everything in racing and obviously all the DOWNLOADS and stuff.. I am hoping crossing fingers, to be up and running with you guys by the middle of next month. (YAY) DAVE

First of all, let me stress out, that I'm sorry for keep asking questions.. Q1.. I have noticed on SOMUK, that they only show a few tarmac and shale tracks.. (to few to mention at this point)..After that I looked at each UKDirt formulae fixture list, and seen that there is more unlisted tracks in SOMUK than there is in UKDirt.. Is there a link somewhere for all the tracks listed in UKDirt that can be downloaded, or is it all in the SOMUK latest version update ? Dave

Thanks Brain & Grasses.. I will be writing all notes & advice/help down..

Firstly, sorry for keep sending posts and questions. Ok after I have acquired a comp, and downloaded the rfactor with my key code I bought through the link in rfactor.. My next series of questions. 1). As just mentioned above, what is the next sequence of downloading,, would it be downloads from SOMUK. 2). Or would it be UK-DIRT, reading from left to right on main login page..or load in order top to bottom in ukdirt forum page.. Dave

Thanks Jake.. I did check out the link you had in your reply.. I first thought of a gaming PC.. I looked online on PCworld,, when I saw their prices I thought I got to have even bigger deep pockets, but then if I do decide about your link, I would still need keyboard, monitor, and maybe a mouse to further expense.. Being on benifits (shhhhhhhhh) don't tell anyone Jake please lol.. so the cheapest the better, but with something that can take all the downloads from everywhere else and stuff, so I can race without bare minimum trouble..

Thanks Harry.. I did look at Argos online, and did a search for pc steer wheels,, I found that there was one that was £70.00 the make was thrust which I think came with pedals,, well that's what it looked like in the item pic.. thanks for your info on that wheel and pedals you suggested..

Today I grabbed the bull by the horns a purchased RFactor1,, the 1225 full version via my phone.. as of not having a computer/laptop as first mentioned by my very first post (introduction).. I have received the key codes for activation (big smiles).. My next purchase maybe either steering wheel and or pedals,,after that maybe a computer/laptop depending how deep are my pockets.. so I'm just letting you guys know that I am one step closer now to racing with you all (can't wait). I will keep all you guys updated with my progression.. Dave

Switching from computer to another computer
SurreyDave replied to SurreyDave's topic in Non-League / Off Topic

Hi Counter.. Yes I can still login using my user and password details on the main web page, using my phone that no problem.. I tried again logging in on main web page using laptop, still no joy there but I could login on the forum page still using laptop..You maybe right in your reply either a antivirus or it could even be a glitch on that laptop.. I will soon know once I have purchased a laptop or desktop for myself.. Cheers Dave -
When I first registered to ukdirt, I used my mobile phone to do the registration and the driver race numbers to each of the formulars I which to participate in.. As in my first post (introduction to dirt), I mentioned that I have not got a computer/laptop.. Today a family member of mine gave me the use of a laptop for a short period time, when I went to login using my username and password on the first initial login page of the website I found that I couldn't login, when I started typing in my username the screen went black and blank.. At this time I was logged out via my mobile phone as mentioned above, so with that said it would appear that I may have to re-register I think, but if I do that it may say something like username and password already in use I am assuming.. Or let's put it another way,, if I registered using either or laptop/computer, and for some unknown reason or a old machine fails and a new laptop/desktop computer is bought, surely you should be able to login using same username and password. I know that computers use different ip addresses.. In other words can you use multiple machines, as long as the appropriate downloads have been installed on said machine.. I would appreciate any help/advice in this matter.. Cheers Dave

Hey.. You guys that have replied to my messages and great and very helpful,, or should I say your the nuts.. Anyway thanks for your input and advice..

Hi Connor.. In answer to your more recent reply,, that's a good idea on putting or berrying everyone else in the wall in the saloon stock car formulae,, as a more relaxing point of view.. after being in a more let's say a more serious non contact formular as in other than saloon stock car,, you got to have a bit of fun and a laid back style.. in other words in real life as to say or tv advert use to say work rest and play..

Hello Ben.. Thank you for your comments and info and advice.. I will take up your offer on pm you for more advice and help, and maybe more questions.. Dave
-
Thank you Jake No doubt I'll be seeing everyone in the near future once I get online so we can rub some paint off of each other racing,, but I will say in a good gentlemanly manner and obviously within the rules,, apart from the saloon stock cars a bit more like bending a few front and rear bumpers as to say and it's all done in a good gentlemanly way..

Hi Conner.. I have had some racing game experience in with my PlayStation I use to own,, with Grand Torismo,, although being a different kettle of fish as to this short oval online game... You mentioned about doing an off line trial as to say,,, how do I try that being off line as I mentioned a few messages before not having a desk top or laptop computer as yet ?
-
Great.. I'll be looking for wheel and pedals in the near future... Sorry for asking all these questions.. Last night I added more race numbers to the formulate left, that I have now joined apart from the ministoxs and the brisca legends.. My question is,, when I'm up and running through rfactor and ukdirt leagues,, should I have noted down the race numbers to each formular that I registered with, or if and when I book in to race a formular of my choice at that time will it recognize my race number ?....

Oh great.. I have a laptop, which I bought obviously lol, when I got made redundant back in 2008 a month before Christmas that year.. since then it has recently been got at with them horrible things called Trojans grrrrrrr.. it's running or was running on Windows 7... Obviously HGG you must be running with steering wheel and pedals on your laptop ?...
-
Thank you Grasser for your kind words.. After watching a few of the YouTube vids as I previously mentioned.. It's so frustrating for me, I'm so itching to get a computer and steering wheel and pedals.. The only thing I ask is what do I either purchase from a gaming computer shop being the actual rfactor game itself or do as a download,, or do I download from this site (ukdirt) ?... As HGG mentioned as a info,, is for me to join or add the other formulars to my list as to say as mentioned.. This is all to me being a online racing game, so I maybe asking a few questions to help me start before I even get a computer..
-
Thanks,HGG.. at the moment in time, believe it or not, I'm actually sending this messages via my phone.. Your advice seems a great idea, yes once I have my desktop set up and everything loaded from UK diet in the correct way or manner.. At the moment I've registered with rfactor as well, so I don't know whether I'm coming or going at this stage.. I have read a set up from som uk.. which I will put into practice at the right moment... I think I also will be needing a steering wheel and pedals, so I'll be hunting a few computer stores in my area for the best or best deals.. Just on a more slightly different note but keeping with stock car banger and other formulars,, I have been going to shed loads of meetings I mean the real stuff, over God knows how many years now.. I have also been a mechanic to a good friend of mine since the early 70's,, and gone to a few different tracks as well.. Anyway thanks again HGG for your input

Firstly I like to say a big "Hello" to everyone.. How I got into this site.. I have been watching numerous YouTube videos, which opened my eyes on how graphic and realistic the cars and tracks are.. Since then I have registered as a driver in F1 stock cars and national hotrods. I ha e also registered a race number in both formulate.. 304=F1 and 515 in national hot rods.. My only set back in this moment in time is which is a big downfall I have no computer.. As soon as I get a deck top computer I'll be up and running a few,, no large amounts of practice laps in both of my cars, which no doubt is the first thing to do apart from up loading cars and tracks.. I'm sure there will plenty of opportunities for me to read before I even think about going to race with all of you one day.. Yes I have joined in both leagues in F1 stock cars and national hot rods..I will also probably be posting from time to time asking questions... Ok that's me done for now.. Just before I sign off,, Keep those tyres spinning or smoking. Keep those engines screaming up the straights. And above all keep the racing clean and fun.. Ok bye for now, until next time Dave..
