  1. Another possiblity is that its been saved in the wrong format so will not allow changes in which case you will have to backtrack.
  2. Looks like a roof chop customised version..especially with those wheels.
  3. Certainly would be good to have few vans to choose from..and if all run on limited physics like the tranny does then it could make for some good meetings.
  4. Top stuff indeed and well worth downloading this and saving it to watch over and over. Mainly focusses on hot rods but has saloon stock cars and bangers too. Lots of familiar faces and some tracks how they appeared back in 1982...with Bill Morris the old hedno promoter also getting in shot. What looks like hednesfords old economy car formula also can also be glimpsed lining up for a figure 8 race (no deliberate contact) . For the banger anoraks theres some nice stuff near the end with a certain Roger Wilkinson shown stripping a wolzy. Banger racing looks like yarmo to me...with plenty of cars of varying types in use. To all the younger element take a look and see how it used to be. :thumbs_up
  5. Trouble is what is common on the tracks varies with time. Some cars have been appearing on tracks for a very long time yet some models had good usage for only a few years before dissapearing almost completely from the scene. Meetings representing say a 1980 typical line up would have featured mainly a60's with mainly other 60's built cars in support. The old ford classic was one car which appeared on tracks mainly in the early 70's and was more or less extinct banger wise by about 1976 as most had rotted away by then.. Rover p4's in their various versions have been recorded in varying amounts from as early as 1960/61 right through to the present day though peaked in numbers on track in the mid 70's ...there has always been a reasonable amount of p4 rovers raced each year in consideration of their age. Unfortunately only so many models have been created ...and though its nice to see rare types being modelled ..some of the more common cars of the past that did get raced have yet to be modelled. Hillman Minx, various victors, austin 1800, austin 1100, are some examples as are mk1 and 2 cortinas..(which hopefully at least one of which is being made). Lets enjoy what we have and appreciate the many models that ppl have created and accept that one or two real special types are not to be generally realeased as their rarity would make the game divert from reality too much.. we dont want the game changing into a typical playstation kiddies crash game do we??

    Skin help!

in the winrestools make sure the top left mktex bit is highlighted to convert tga to tex...if it wont convert then your tga is not right in some way..eg 513 by 513 pixels or named wrong etc

    Skin help!

try using WINRESTOOLS ..which you can get from the modsquad site for converting..its easier and quicker than the old mktex method...just use the mktex part from that useful set of tools and away you go. do make sure though the tga is 512 by 512 pixels or the other 2 formats or it will not work
  8. These wonderful coaches work great with vertex damage on. No odd bits occuring and unlikely to get the drivers anatomy poking through the bodywork anywhere..best go for fast big tracks though such as hednesford figure 8..where the coach wrecking really belongs.
  9. I saw pooh on the track.... well in the first picture...on top of winnies finplate. drinking too much on a friday night i think thats better..
  10. Proper banger fin plate I think..and more realistic than quite a few that are really a tad small. Banger rules I raced under normally demanded numbers be a certain height and width and painted on number fins and on doors. Additionally it gives a bit more room for finplate art..for those wishing to do some.
  11. It can be a little tricky when initially setting it up...so join the majority .. just persist.. when it "freeze itself " just keep the window open and click on file and then select locate NHeat again..and keep trying.. is is a little fiddly but you'll click through to the run folder in your nascar heat game in the end. When done all will be well and you can use the extra features that mod launcher 2 provides so easily.
  12. Heres a Dodge 6 skinpack that I made for offline use..with cars in retro style. 20 cars in the pack but make sure you have the dodge6 car file. These are good fun in normal mode ..but damage is much improved in vertex mode..Great for 21 lap race round wimbo fig 8 and look good at the new aldershot. Physics is limited and parts of the cars do dissapear in distance a bit easy but fun none the less. Be warned though..the back wheels are fragile so surviving 21 laps of wimbo 8 can be tough enough ..let alone coming 1st [attachmentid=13981] you will notice that some cars have alternative grilles which improves in game appearance and adds variety. 13. go to the modsquad website and go to the utilities section of the downloads for mod launcher 2...while your at it..also get hold of winrestools as well..if you dont already have it. While I certainly dont think uk dirt should run with vertex damage on for practical reasons...everyone does need to be using the same mode..and ppl with slower connections or older comps/graphic cards would feel hard done by if they couldnt race after having paid jolt fees. However what could be done by ppl hosting with private servers or in free leagues is to run selected races using specific cars which are more suited to vertex damage...ie ones where the drivers head or arms are much less likely to appear though the bodywork.. Those taking part though in my opinion should ensure they have mod launcher 2 to enable vertex on or off easily..and also have good connections and a decent enough quality pc that can run the game with ease...ie not those that get sluggish when theres lots of cars on track. From running such vertex sessions it could be assessed as to what minimal performance levels would be needed to run it satisfactorily. My particular favourite for vertex damage is the Dodge 6 ..and if all were painted retro style it could give some class meetings on figure 8 tracks or the new aldershot..in a style of racing more in line with the 50's origins of short oval racing.
  14. You really need to supply a bit more info on your problem. 1. Have you had any mod actually running on your computer yet?? 2. Whichever non banger mod you downloaded.......check inside its folder to see what size ui they have...should be around 30MB...varies according to mod. Run this mod to make sure it works. 3. Have you downloaded a working skinpack for the mods... 4..have you downloaded suitable tracks for the mods 5..if you intend racing non uk dirt bangers..such as BWS or TNB etc then you will need the updates from those sites as they have many cars not used by uk dirt.. using a skinpack from such sites without having installed updates will lead to nascars, messed skins ,,game crashes etc 6. When you have a workiing mod (ie hor rods or ssc)..then copy and paste it ui into the banger folder replacing the empty one in it Do follow the instructions given for installation...and make sure you have the proper patches installed etc such as 1.72e.
  15. the banger download does not contain a ui file. what you will have to do is download and run another mod such as hot rods or saloon stock cars which have working ui files included.. when you have done that you can copy the ui file from the hot rod/ssc folder into your banger folder...you wont have the banger screens but you will have a working game with the correct buttons for online play. search through this forum and you will find other ppl have had to do similar things many times before.
  16. does the hard drive have errors on it that prevents the defrag from finishing properly as i have known a few cases of 98se gaving similar problems...and hence as they cant be defragged then they end up running slower than they should. You certainly shouldnt be getting a lame poly rate with a 64mb card.. check the graphics drivers..as they may be the official ones..but often later drivers cause loss of proper function on early cards. It may be worth rolling back to a much older driver to get the graphics performing how they should.
  17. Until I dismantled my really old comp ...pentium 200 mmx...on windows 98se with just 64 mb ram that ran fine until maxed out with cars when the graphics refresh rate got slowed a bit. That had a 32 mb graphics card. So that is probably what you need to sort. Our other older comp on xp now ..but was on 98se is a pentium3 with 500 meg and 128 ram..and both with a 16mb or 32 mb graphics cards could handle a full track without any noticeable problems. Obviously newer more powerful comps can run at higher resolution and much smoother. I would think your problems are more likely to be an old graphics card/chip that lacks the power needed...or something slowing your computer up badly ..eg adware/spyware/needing a defrag etc
  18. I would suggest running Hijack this and seeing what comes up..you may find something which is causing connection problems within the log. As for graphics drivers (and often other drivers) the latest does not always improve things despite what the makers say. Try rolling back to earlier drivers . Though I now have a newer computer now..I have never had any problems with an old pentium 500 system with 128 ram and a 16mb graphics card even with lots in server .. the older comp is on stand by and now has another ancient graphics card in with 32 mb and that is running on a driver issued 4 /5 years ago..as the later drivers that are supposed to work are no good.
  19. my 9 year old has been asking for coaches for ages so he will be well chuffed when he finds them loaded on his computer...only prob now is I better get painting a few more up...to add to those kindly done by crazy craig . ah well keeps em happy..and me

    tga to tex

Suggestion for those struggling with tga to tex.. Go to the MODSQUAD website and download the WinResTools Wizard as apart from a load of other useful heat tools also has a tga to tex converter and works a treat on xp.

    Windows

we have got 3 computers that qualify for the free vista upgrade package. Not sure wether to take them up on the offer yet...certainly dont plan on using it until all the major bugs are sorted ..like in a years time at least.. no fun being a guinea pig.
  22. You can keep anything you want on your second hard drive...though a second operating system is advised against (ie win98 se on second drive with xp on your master). Its always a good idea to have back up copies of your system files on the second hard drive and anything else you feel important to you. If space is available then keep a second working copy of nascar heat and mods on it in case of corruption or other errors on your main heat installation. When running two drives on another comp I had the full carmageddon 2 installed on one drive with the SOD banger conversion running on the second drive to prevent either clashing or getting corrupted.
  23. VIZ has got Sid the Sexist....the silver tongued cavalier. We have Sashjag....the BROWN tongued cavalier...(with bad breath).
  24. lets clear up a few things about the smaller triumphs. The first cars using the style of the bigger 2000 range etc were the triumph 1300 which was fwd. This was later joined by the 1500 model in fwd. Then a 1500 rwd model from which the dolomite and toledo arose was introduced with both fwd and rwd made at the same time for a short while. the front wheel drive models were dropped...then after a couple of years the toledo was dropped . the Dolomite staying on till the range got phased out about 1980. Technically for a hedno pre 68 meet the 1300 and 1500 fwd models qualify while the rwd models do not..although a couple have been allowed to race in the past. As for what constitutes bilge...its really a matter of personal opinion. In my eyes mk 3 ,4, 5 cortinas are all bilge as I started out when proper solid cars could be obtained and when the likes of mk3 tinas first turned up on track they were easy meat for the majority of the tougher older cars they were up against. The triumph was one of the most dominant cars of the 80's and very much overshadowed the mk3 in race wins and toughness and ability to be raced on all types of track.

    Warping

Just a general thing ..another thing worth checking for those getting warp or have a dodgy internet connection...check your broadband telephone filters.
