Australian motor racing great Peter Brock has been killed in an accident in the Targa Rally in Western Australia. The 61-year-old died when his car crashed into a tree during the race. His co-driver was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

I have watched Peter since I can remember, and have a few videos and DVD's of him. He's been racing since the 60's, and was an amazing driver and character, and certainly my favourite Aussie driver. I used to love the late 80's, early 90's when the Brits would go over for Bathurst, and chuck a few RS500's around the circuit, but Peter always seemed to be on top.

Sincere sympathy to Peter's family and closest friends.

Gutted.

Had the pleasure of seeing him once when he came over for a Tourist Trophy at Silverstone and collected his autograph in my book to go with all the other greats.

Will be one heck of a race going on somewhere with him and Gerry Marshall.

Shocked !!!

I've always been entertained by his flamboyant style round Mt Panorama, and Ironically I just bought a DVD last week showing all the races at Bathurst of which the majority were won by him.He will be sadly missed, a very colourful character both on and off the track.

very sad to hear this news, I grew up with the bathurst race being shown on grandstand and can remember watching Peter Brock and Dick Johnson going at it hammers and tongs. I was lucky enough to see Brocky driving his 85 commodore up the goodwood hill in 2005 and it is a memory i will now cherish all the more. RIP Peter Perfect :sick03:
