big al 515 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Finally got this installed and it's an exciting mod to say the least. Certainly very challenging compared to Heat. At the moment I seem to have the gears running automatic and kicking between 1st and 2nd gear during any given lap - is this ok or are people generally running manual gears and sticking in one gear once they are up and running in a race like in Heat? I have to brake a lot harder into the corners than for Heat to avoid going very wide, is this normal? Thanks to the chap who posted his setup for Ipswich on the RFactor site, it's a lot better than default. I have settled on the cab view where you look out from the bonnet (tv cabview I think it was called) for the mo - with a generous 3 mirrors around me! Is it ok to book in for a test meeting using a novice skin or do I need to have a skin painted? (If it's the latter, it could be a while. ) I seemed to have found the Jolt 3 server - it showed noone in it and no ping but I connected to it and seemed to be able to lap on my own so I presume I was in it ok?

Fourwinds Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 (edited) Welcome ... the more novices the better ... I'm still feeling my way around the circuits and trying to keep the front pointed in the right direction :-) I am also just using the novice skins at the moment to play online. freew67 Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 One option for the people who are hurting to get by right now is using the trainer car. Its more or so a rookie car, tuned down, but should at least help you get grips with the physics. I suggest using a man tranny, and just sticking it into 2nd. Most people never leave 2nd. I have never played Heat, but from what I have read and what I have been told, toss out everything you know about the game, and start over with RF. RF is in a dif world compared to Heat. I think it was Hutch who posted the Ips Heat vs RF photo (http://forum.kev149.com/index.php?showtopic=25370). Since I am working on Belle Vue at the moment, here is the Heat vs RF photos for it. Not knocking the creators of the tracks one bit. Please dont think that, just showing you the worlds of difference between the two games.
drumbstick Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 (edited) Always good to see a new face, we take bookings from everyone even Erik The servers are all set to disable manual gears, if you press enter the little HUD in the right hand corner will cycle through, one of the menus shows what aids you have on, I would suggest only running with auto clutch on. As an update to this weeks meeting, since it could be the last I run before MOR and DANSKIN take over I am planning on using the beta of one of my fantasy tracks. We have a closed test tonight and as long as we find no fatal floors I will make it public tomorrow. Edited September 13, 2007 by drumbstick
