splinter Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 (edited) Something a bit different this weekend as I took my son to see the Monster Jam Tour at The Millenium Stadium. Great atmosphere. Most of the big boys were there. The 1,600 BHP V8 sound was deafening when they set off as they also had the roof closed. I thought they would take things steady with being 'away from home' for repairs but no they didnt! They're all nutta's! A sellout crowd as well! freew67 Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 I saw the MLMT (Major League of Monster Trucks) at KY Speedway a couple weeks ago. They range from 1800-2200 hp, and need FAA clearence for some of their jumps. Im not a huge fan of Monster Trucks, but it was a great show. Free style was great... not sure if they did that there. But these guys are nuts, but they make the same amount of money usually if they win or not. We had 2 flip, 1 doing dognuts, 1 hit the ramp and over he went. Here is a few pics I took... Have to post the link to the videos when I get home.
splinter Posted October 30, 2007 Author Report Posted October 30, 2007 Cheers Jeff, Better pics than my son took lol, its hard taking good action shots in low light (only cos I dont know how to work a digi camera!) We had the Racing followed an entertainment break then the Freestyle which is the best bit. Think there were 3 flips. I didnt expect much, but they certainly put on a top show, they drove like they were in the World Finals! These things are massive close up, just look at your shot where he's driving over the big school bus and you see how big they are! They weight 5 ton's
DanSkin Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Looks good, caught them a few times on telly over the summer. Looks like a well promoted / well put together program of events, and spectacular and noisey to boot.
freew67 Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Dan if I had your phone number, I would have called you. Everyone that I had in my cell, when they started a heat race, I would call, start to talk just as the race starts. It went from quiet to WHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6 out of 7 people went, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT! The other one person didnt answer, and got the entire heat race on their voice mail.
splinter Posted October 30, 2007 Author Report Posted October 30, 2007 haha yeah, I think half the crowd at the Millenium Stadium left due to the noise! With the roof shut it was like having a 500 watt speaker strapped to each ear everytime they set off! Nice voicemail lol
Tombo209 Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Looks like some remote control cars, would love to of been there.

splinter Posted October 30, 2007 Author Report Posted October 30, 2007 Here's a Video from Cardiff on Saturday I missed some of the best bits though
Kruiz 136 Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 (edited) I saw them last year at the Manchester evening news arena, and as you can imagine for those of you that have seen them, those beasts in such a small enclosed arena were absolutely deafening. 5 or 6 times louder than the funny car dragsters.....easily. They were very good though, I might have tried to get a ticket to watch them at Cardiff, had I known they were on. Good pictures Splinter & FreeW. Edited October 31, 2007 by Kruiz 136
