BIRMINGHAM – WQR 7 – THURSDAY 3RD JULY 2008

After returning to the shale of Kings Lynn last week, this week we return to the tarmac of Birmingham, and once again chase those valuable world championship qualifying points.

The last meeting at Birmingham was the first meeting this season on the tarmac, and with 21 cars in attendance, it was an absolute classic. Dominant driver on the day was Sybe #315 who took both his heats and the final, and he has since followed this up with another final win just last week at Kings Lynn. Other race winners on the day included DB #318 with a heat win, and Dazza #290 with the Grand National win. When it came to the points, Sybe was the top scorer, but it was Matthew #413 and Hutch #331 that were second and third.

Looking down the world championship qualifying point’s chart, 28 people have taken part with 26 people scoring at least a point. Top of the tree at the minute is Dazza #290. He has a 42 pint lead over LeeK #39 who sits in second place. Hutch #331 and Kruiz #136 are just a further one point back, with Mathew #413 a further two points back. This means that second to fifth is split by only 3 points as they battle for front row semi final spots. Unfortunately, neither Hutch nor Kruiz are likely to improve on their point’s total. A full list of the World Qualifying point’s can be found by clicking here.

Currently 15 cars are booked in, and I would expect this to rise to nearer 20. However, this is a superb opportunity for those that have not tried rfactor before to not only have a race and see what they think about it, but also have a good chance to qualify for a semi final and therefore possibly do battle for the first ever UK Dirt rFactor F1 World Championship.

There is no doubt that Birmingham is a superb track for tarmac rfactor F1 racing, and as he get to the business end of the qualifiers, there are many people that would love to be higher up the grid, and that can only help to add to the classic racing that rfactor has already seen.

Cheers
