Rodder159 Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 when i start my comp explorer.exe is running but crashes and starts causing my icons and taskbar to dissaper, anyone know how i can fix this :@ help me :@
mini683 Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 It sounds like im having the same trouble as me m8. Does your icons and Taskbar reappear after about 15 seconds or so? and als, Are you running Windows Vista?
Kruiz 136 Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 (edited) I used to get this too, solved by a fresh install of windows, but if you go to RUN in the start menu and type explorer.exe it will boot it up (on XP anyway I don't know if Vista is the same) , if it disapears again after a short while, I would advise a reinstallion of windows. Rodder159 Posted September 5, 2008 Author Report Posted September 5, 2008 will i lose everything kriuz
Guest Scrapman53 Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 (edited) If it isn't crashing your PC, put another hard drive in and back everything up, or copy all you need onto DVDs before you try anything else. Edited September 5, 2008 by Scrapman53
Lee Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 or maybe you could zip up all ure important files rodder etc and i could upload them somewhere for you to download again? if not i suggest back up the important data onto some dvd's. i take it u tried a system restore to the nearest point???
Jrusselluk Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Ive had this before, solved it by reinstalling windows. you can still access the hard drive by putting c:/ in the run box. so best bet is probably to back it up to another hard drive and reinstall. James
Kruiz 136 Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 (edited) will i lose everything kriuz No, but you will lose things such as My Documents, things you have on your Desktop etc, so best back all that up. Its not quite the equivalent of a format. Your Hard drive (Programs etc) should be OK. Edited September 7, 2008 by Kruiz 136
