Magpye105 Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 Its been announced that the 1995 Hot Rod World Champion Ian McKellar Jnr is making a one off comeback at Foxhall this Saturday in the spare Audi TT of Chris Haird. McKellar jnr turned his back on Hot Rods after on a couple of seasons in order to persue his racing career ambitions. He has on his way to SCSA driven in British GTs, TVR Tuscans (champion), Eurocars and a few other cars I can't remember (lol) Shame I'm racing at Birmingham so am unable to go and watch the action at Foxhall, whcih kicks off at 6pm. On another note the top 4 qualifiers for the World are Ricky Hunn, Malcolm Blackman, Steve Thompson and Simon Bentley. I fancy Bentley as an outside bet for the title, after a cracking season, though the perfection and 4 new tyres (allowed for race) could see a procession of perfection with Blackman and Thompson nose to tail. Has anyone got any views?
Ham 775 Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 Has anyone got any views? 20594[/snapback] On a clear day i can see as far as Glenrothes from my Kitchen window. Seriously i'd like to see Ricky Hunn win it again. He's almost back to his best in his current Corsa by all accounts I can't see Simon Bentley winning as he's more a consistent placings man but from the front group he has a chance. Top four for me would be (In no particular order) Hunn, Blackman, Steward and Martin. with Spinks no doubt loitering around the top five by the end. Now if Neal Smith was to be allowed to start in the group he finished in then that would be interesting
sim_902 Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Spinks or McCall(every year we think Keith could maby do it McCall wins and yup, I think Keith can win this yr, well done Davy lol), I'd Like to see John Christie getting in to the big race, this past season hes been mega quick over ere, and England get 20wf Places, and by looks of it place number 20 might be filled with a guy from as low as position 32!!!! come on John 5th in N.I done 14 rounds! Pity ROI 142 didnt qualify, that guy can drive!
FireStorm Posted June 17, 2005 Report Posted June 17, 2005 I reckon Ricky Hunn will do it. First season back and in the worlds. He is doing very well and very quick allways on the pace and up in the front runners. If Dave longhurst come back for a one off race as he's still mid grid even though he hasn't been in the hot rods since the start of the year. I reckon he would be in a top 6-7 placing
