  1. A favourite of mine in both his Spedeworth and GMP days. Sympathies to the family. 202
  2. Did you fly from Stanstead? I used Norwich. The airport is more like a bus station. On the way down i was 20 mins from stepping off the plane to driving out of the car park in me hire car. Coming back was almost as quick with a 45 min check in time. Only 50 miles from Ipswich as well.
  3. Stopping at Orwell Meadows as usual here. Just up the road from the showground. Will be in the bar or thereabouts tomorrow night if anyone is staying there. Will also be lording it in our VIP marquee on the backstraight over the weekend as well (All 3 of us ) so feel free to pop in and say Hi. Hope the sun is out for us.
  4. Another one falls from Barney's Knockhill grandstand. It's been a pleasure knowing you over the last four years or so Mate. I don't remember a cross word between us in that time and i still can't remember a day warmer than that Sunday we wen't to Hednesford for the Nationals. I hope everything works out great for you and your family down under Will be at Cowdenbeath after all on Saturday so might see you there. If not have a safe journey and give me an e-mail when you open those boxes with all the old short circuits etc in them..lol Bon Voyage
  5. Nothing like a public witchhunt to scare off visitors/potential new members etc. Some of it from people who should be old enough to know better as well. If you don't like what he posts skip past it. It's not difficult
  6. classic comedy Followed no doubt by Pitt the glint in the milkman's eye
  7. All the best you plonker See you Sunday.
  8. If Owen is fit i think England will be there or thereabouts. Crouch is a far better player than he is given credit for and they do have arguably the best Midfield four in the world. Rooney would be best forgotten about for me and his place given to Defoe. There is no logic in leaving Defoe out because he can't get a regular game for Spurs then giving the 4th strikers place to someone who has played only a dozen games in Division 1. Even if Rooney does recover enough to play he is not going to be as sharp as is really necessary at this level. I'd imagine Germany will go close but they've not played a competitive game for 2 years so are a bit unknown. France and Italy are the other 2 teams i'd expect to do well from Europe. Brazil and Argentina are most peoples favourites and are probably mine as well but it has been 48 years now since a team from outwith Europe has won a World Cup played in Europe so maybe not the foregone conclusion some think. Hopefully it will be a cracking competition and i've stuck £50 on Engerland to win so i've at least got the comfort of a £350 bonus if the unthinkable does happen. (I wonder if you can be cryogenically frozen for £350 ) P.S Well done to the BBC for embracing modern technology and giving us the option of turning one Mr J Motson and his one-sided commentary off. Shame it couldn't be done during last seasons match of the day when every player going down injured from October onwards was "potentially bad news for Englands world cup hopes"
  9. Ran another great race the fella and only the weight penalty cost him the win. Backed him E/W so got my money back
  10. I'm normally there but circumstances have meant i've had to miss it this year, which is a shame as the atmospehere is fantastic. I won with Hedgehunter last year and i'll be sticking with him again this year especially after his fine Gold Cup performance at Cheltenham. What a feeling standing at the Elbow and the only horse in sight coming up the home straight is the one you have your money on.
  11. Thank's for the kind words lads Mother and baby are absolutly fine though she did put my missus through the mill with her refusal to honour her booking and come out into the world. Two weeks late and 48hrs without sleep later they eventualy gave her a c-section and the sound of the little one crying as she was whisked away to be cleaned and checked over is one i'll never forget. Most people who have seen her are saying she looks like me but i've been trying to reassure her otherwise Prydie you are more than welcome to share the dog's blanket on the kitchen floor mate. Here's a pic of her adopting a position often favoured by myself..........CRASHED OOT Thank's again.
  12. Until you said this you were doing well. I maybe straying rather far from the topic but Simon Cowell is a man who would say someone drawing their fingernails down a blackboard is the "X Factor" if it will make him another couple of million quid Honest he certainly ain't I know more about rocket science than he does about music. (Sorry for hijacking this topic ) :EDIT: If we are talking about another Simon Cowell then i have no idea who he is and apologise. Otherwise my previous opinions about one of itv's seemingly endless line of tone deaf karaoke judges (and viewers) still stands.
  13. Photo taken by yours truly at Wimbledon on Sunday.
  14. Lol. Crasher wasn't there today Andy. Just last night, and i think most people i spoke to agreed with me that it was total crap. That's why he said he was at the wrong meeting. Today was indeed far better. I do sympathise a bit with the marshalls regarding when to raise a yellow flag and when not to. I for one am not out to decry the marshalls who as we all know give up their time free gratis. Sometimes however there does seem to be a lack of common sense applied. After yellow flags appearing twice last night for half a marker tyre poking out into the corner a bit this afternoon 618 was left plumb in the racing line on the exit of turn 2 where he was inevitably collected by the pack. Something else that is annoying although a bit less common these days is the race steward/clerk of the course type guy who stands in the centre circle and raises his yellow flag at the first hint of trouble despite there being a marshall right next to the incident. As i said i'm not one for marshall bashing and i do appreciate their efforts but i'd invite you to take off your official's hat for a week or 2 next year Andy and come stand on the peasants side of the fence to see just how infuriating it can get. Hell i'll even supply the beer P.S. Be careful Crasher. You've only been to Cowdenbeath once and already you are starting to sound like me
  15. Brilliant meeting today As in the previous 4 years the sunday after the bowl (surely no longer prefixed by super ) was the best meeting of the season by a street mile. Cowdenbeath's best two formula's by a long way (Stock Rod's and Prostox) were on and they dragged the saloons out of the sleep they were in last night as well. By the way Barney's bro was not allowed to race today after being told again at 12.30 that he was indeed banned. (This by the same man who accepted his booking last week ) however gmp's seemingly endless incompetence meant he was able to not only get out on track for heat 2 but also line up facing the wrong way from everyone else waiting for 202 to come on track before dozing him head on in front of the starters rosrtum while the cars were lining up. He followed this up by throwing his licence on track as he was walking away. Alas Paul has now been told he has been banned for life (Heard it. Another guy who was told that some years back was allowed back on track a few months later and proceeded to wrap one of Scrapmans prostox round his neck ) but hopefully the powers that be will look deep into the pathetic organisation that led Paul to take his drastic action and run the formula a bit more fairly in future. Everyone who knows Paul knows he has a short fuse but it seems to me that the people running the formula were quite happy to keep on giving him a longer rope, and they were no doubt secretly delighted today when he finally hung himself with it. Shame on the lot of you. Aside from that the Stock rods served up their usual brand of entertainment. 721 & 831, 232 & 84 were two clashes that spring to mind but 72's demolition of 658 in the final was the most prominant falling out. The saloons were very good today. ( you won't hear that from me very often) Maybe it's a good job they're not like that every week or i'd have nothing to complain about...................then again, there's always the F2s Here's looking forward to next year already....well the last Sunday in October at least :EDIT 1: I don't condone any of Paul's actions today, i'll just say only the blind and stupid couldn't see it coming :EDIT 2: Was great to meet Crasher as well as a few others who i'd met before but were surprise and welcome visitors :EDIT 3: I'll ad my congratulations as well to Kevin Mcqueen on some solid drives today. But for yellow flags you's definatly have gone home with a trophy or two
