Skegness' first UK-Dirt F1 meeting of 2011 hosts the first round of the all-new Blues & Reds series, which is open to all non-Premier League-seeded blue and red graded drivers, completing a set of three different tiers of additional series for F1 racers to demonstrate and improve their skills over and above the regular meeting format, along with the Whites & Yellows and Premier League.

Dates and tracks for this series are:

14th April - Skegness
11th May - Coventry
9th June - Hednesford

30th June - Mildenhall
14th July - Sheffield
4th August - Nutts Corner
11th August - Bradford (S)
8th September - Arena Essex
13th October - Wimbledon

20th October - Belle Vue

The series is being generously sponsored by veteran UK-Dirt racer Travel (365) - with the overall winner having their full 2012 server contribution fee paid, while 2nd and 3rd placed finishers will each receive £5 towards their 2012 fee. The points for the series will be accumulated in the same way as the Whites & Yellows, in the 12, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 format.

With the meeting being Tarmac Masters Round 2, it will be 3 Heats each, followed by the Final and Grand National. Harmen (262) leads the TM series after the opening round on 81 points with the multiplication system in place, however as he is currently serving a ban the door is open for others to top the table after this, the second of the eight rounds in the 2011 TM series.

In the National Points Dode's (151) lead looks a little fragile, as the newly-upgraded SuperStar managed only 12 points from his first meeting at the grade last week around Belle Vue, by far his worst score from the six 2011 meetings contested in F1 thus far. He now sits on 208 points, only 16 ahead of Aub (188) and 24 ahead of Tom D (1), both of whom look to have the opportunity to top the chart should Skegness go sufficiently in their favour. With Dode never having raced above blue grade in F1 before, the pressure is on him to prove he can cut it from the back and in such established top-rank company right from the green flag. Dode became the only driver so far in 2011 to win more than one Final a fortnight ago at Ipswich, adding that main event success to his season-opening Birmingham win. Aub, the Northampton Final winner a month ago, won a Skegness Final last season on the UK Open Wednesday and so has proven pedigree around this almost circular racing platform, venue of the thrilling 2010 British Championship.

Matty (300) finished second in the Ipswich Final two weeks ago, but went one better last time around at Belle Vue after a downgrade to yellow, making it a Heat and Final double after his earlier victory in the first Heat, and a third win in total for the evening taking the Whites & Yellows race into account. Though he is yet to appear on the booking list, this meeting would present him with a better than fair chance of adding to his win tally from close to the front of the grid. His fellow mucker from the yellow grade Big Al (515) is booked, and though he will not have to undergo the rigours of any Whites & Yellows race this time, he too should keep his points total ticking over nicely one would think, after a 4th place in last week's Final and a series of dogged drives so far in '11.

MoR (137) recorded his first win of the season in Belle Vue's Heat 2 last week, going on to a plentiful points score of 41 for the meeting, contributed to by 2nd-placed finishes in both Heat 1 and the Final as well as another points placing in the GN - form that is more in keeping with that shown by him in recent times unlike his relatively quiet start to the season. Should he race he will once again be returning to the scene of his 2010 UK Open win, and also where he missed out on a British Championship win only through the brilliance of Dazza (290) last September. Another red top who tasted success last time was Johno (3) who had returned from a two-week absence - by the end of the night he was passing the chequered first in the GN, his second race win of the season going towards a 35-point meeting points total, some 13 points better than his previous season best of 22, achieved at NIR prior to his break.

Liam (90) made his UK-Dirt F1 debut starting from the blue grade at the Manchester venue, seemed to be going steadily, and is booked in once again. Two potential debut drivers for Skegness are Speed (57) and shane thepain (114), though with the latter having been spotted in meetings with about the same frequency as Shergar this season when he has booked for the formula, it is fair to say it would be a surprise to see him make it onto the tarmac in earnest.

Skegness is a track that, much the same as any other, can produce fine racing when treated with the necessary amount of respect - fingers crossed we are in for a quality meeting here, in keeping with the majority of what we have seen so far in the 2011 season. Bookings are open on the UK-Dirt website until 6pm tomorrow (Thursday), with late bookings being available on this forum thereafter. Good luck,

Thanks,
Corny
