  2. Scunthorpe (WCQR 9 of 15) - Thursday 19th May 2022 Nineteen of UK-Dirt's hardiest souls took up the considerable challenge of extracting pace and points from Scunthorpe's traction-limited undulations, and as the racing got underway in Heat One it was sole white top sharky (248) who led us off. As would become a familiar sight through the evening, ASHNFFC (125) was quick to bridge the gap, still quite clearly in the same flying form as in the previous weeks' Stoke and Skegness events... [As ever, you might need to click pictures to reveal them in full size and quality - I never quite know until after I've hit 'Post!'] The final lap of Heat One - with Ellis_Rogers (889) and BraderzzCooper (468) engaged in battle, out wide and losing time, Cammy (143) eyes the perfect racing line out of turn two. It was nip and tuck up the back straight but by the time 143 and 889 entered turn three it was Cammy who held that all important inside line, with his red top rival powerless to do anything in response between there and the drop of the chequered. The aftermath of a prang in Heat Two between Mav (525) and Biscuit (285). Mav put in a spirited effort throughout with unfortunately no points to show for it come the end of the night, whilst Biscuit's own zero tally likely came as no great surprise - he was by his own admission struggling badly to get to grips with the track's demands, but can hopefully log the occasion as 'character building' none the less. Roles are reversed in comparison to the first Heat as those same two red grade chargers head onto the last lap of Heat Two here - but whereas it was unmistakably the 889 front bumper that had denied 468 a winning opportunity last time, in this one it was the taking of just too tight a line into the bend that cost him - that infield marker tyre was in no mood for budging and after being flicked off line BraderzzCooper had to settle for third this time. For Ellis_Rogers this win came as part of his best scoring performance of the season by quite some distance, the 72 in total being a full twenty higher than he had previously managed. The SuperStars lined up and ready for Heat Three - Kane_M (238) was debuting a new shale paint job The roller for Heat Three is underway and much like Biscuit, Jack Ward (484) was finding the going tough - even being questioned as to the legitimacy of his identity by a fellow racer at one stage. Words were not minced in his reply as to exactly the reasons along with his verdict on the venue being, shall we say 'less than luxurious' in polite terms?! Fellow SuperStar BenChambers (800) meanwhile seemed to have quite the opposite experience and liking of the place, with a season to date's best score of 65pts - narrowly beating his previous high of 64 as achieved at the 31st March Nutts Corner Irish Open meeting. Trouble on the first bend of Heat Three! BenChambers (800) got through this to lead the SuperStar charge toward the front but despite his best efforts in the closing stages - shovelling back markers aside to clear his path - there remained insufficient laps for him to get on terms with ASHNFFC who took the 125 car to its first win of the night. BraderzzCooper made the podium for the second successive race and although those wins would continue to elude him it was a very solid night of scoring - much in the same vein as Stoke a fortnight previous, 50pts that time also without having visited 'the top step' and 49 more here. ASHNFFC (125) out in front - Heat Three Three different winners from three different grades thus far then. So as we moved onto the main event of the evening, would any of them be able to make it a Heat and Final double? Well despite seeming slightly less than enthusiastic after Heat Three - talk of packing up for the night at that stage (though he may well have been joking?!) - clearly McFerran (910) lacked none of the spark required to do the business in this one, as seen above deposing leader ASHNFFC (125). With three outings in the F1's since being eligible post-ban from meeting six of 2022, the reigning F2 World Champ now sits with an average of 57.67 from red grade - the sort of form which if continued will surely see his grades matching across the formulae before too long! With ASHNFFC holding onto second and Cammy overcoming BenChambers for the final podium spot, there was also fierce three-way competition for fifth place between Kane_M, Ellis_Rogers and BraderzzCooper in the closing stages! ASHNFFC (125) closed out the night with another success in the Grand National. Trez (259) led the red train through from behind and had his work cut out getting past yours truly (391) and into second as the race drew toward its conclusion. He got close but just not quite close enough to challenge the man in 125 before the laps ran out. ASHNFFC's 90-points haul smashed his own existing season's best and is still at the time of writing the third highest score achieved in F1 this season - only brian (192) with 102pts at week two's Arena Essex and (158) Walton's 91pt season-opening Belle Vue keeping it off the top of the charts. Full results and points from this meeting as originally posted can be found HERE! Cheers, Corny
  3. Skegness UK Open Championship - Thursday 12th May 2022 With the Richter scale finally having settled right down in those parts of the Lincolnshire east coast, time for a look back at just some of the highlights from Skeggy - the highest ranked event battled out thus far in the 2022 UK-Dirt F1 calendar... [PLEASE BE SURE TO CLICK ON IMAGES IF REQUIRED TO VIEW PROPER 1080p SIZE AND QUALITY - AS THEY ARE INITIALLY DISPLAYED IN HEAVILY DOWNSIZED AND COMPRESSED FASHION HERE!] A couple of laps into Heat One - Cammy (143) was soon back on all fours and with minimal loss of time after this suboptimal turn four exit! Fast forward fourteen laps to the end of the race and there was an even slimmer margin between himself and BenChambers (800) respectively as they sprinted to the finish line for second place, or so it seemed... Ellis_Rogers (889) finally managed to break clear of the competition at the end of lap six (above), having initially taken the lead with a hit on NobbyClarke (108) a couple of laps earlier and been kept more than busy by the combined attentions of he, along with JDOBBS (947) and Frans (454). It had been a lightning getaway for 889 and "too good to be true" on this occasion unfortunately for him, being adjudged post-event to have infringed the rules on the start presumably hence docked two positions in the result, this promoting 143 and 800 to those top two spots. A third 2022 season win for Cammy then as it turned out - his first since a Nutts Corner Heat back on 31st March. Three yellow grade drivers contested the lead during the first few laps of Heat Two, and having seen off the attentions of Dilly (966) and ASHNFFC (125) it was NielsR (184) - shown above starting lap five - who coolly pulled away thereafter to build and maintain a margin that would remain unthreatened to the end. ASHNFFC took second in this one and would go one better in Heat Three, which he started on pole and survived a visit to the armco on the first bend courtesy of Frans (454), then the lightest of grazes from Dilly (966) a lap later, going unbothered about his task from then on for 'flag to flag' success. Frans (454) went clear at the front of Heat Four after knocking Dilly (966) wide at the end of lap one, but from the ninth lap onward his race as leader was complicated somewhat by recovering back marker StockcarboyDanny (114). A few bites at the 114 back end upon catching him periodically were not enough for Frans to get past. With three laps to go and the last of his attempts to shift StockcarboyDanny having just failed and lost him yet more time, Frans' rear view mirror now showed the noticable and nearing presence of the blue roofed, second placed CB (167) car. 114 had edged clear ahead at this point but now the primary issue for Frans was definitely behind him - and by the start of the last lap his lead was no longer a comfortable one at all. CB was now surely within striking distance. Frans narrowly avoided the JDOBBS (947) car as it spun and ricocheted off the wall at the start of the back straight, then approaching the final bend and with CB ominously close behind, had not only the 114 car but also that of another back marker in Davros (210) ahead of him and narrowing his options for any avoidance tactics... With the race win at stake CB took the chance presented to push Frans into turn three (above) - a controlled hit rather than anything too wild - and perhaps for the first time all race that hitherto hindering 114 car might even have worked slightly in Frans' favour. It cushioned the blow for Frans as he bounced off its inside length so took some of the sting out of CB's attempt. By the time Frans tapped the fence he was most of the way round the bend and with CB very much following his trajectory, the order remained the same at the end of the lap as it had been at the start. A decent amount of fresh air to point his car at for the first time in a while as Frans exited turn four, and crossed the line for an inaugural (and anything but straightforward at that!) UK-Dirt F1 win of 2022. The rolling lap for Heat Five - moments away from the drop of the green and one remaining chance to amass those all important Final qualification points... Heat Five - NielsR (184) knocked me (391) wide in turn three to lead at the end of the first lap, and from there on managed to stay clear in fact increasing his lead quite convincingly as the race drew into its second half. Much like for Frans the race before however, the closing stages of this one proved to be much less than trouble-free for NielsR with heavy traffic ahead and embroiled in battles of their own. Most notably NielsR ran into the back of the recovering Davros' 210 car in turn four with just over three to go and this saw most of his lead gone. Once more around the track and with NielsR then lapping an again errant 210 down the home straight, as we started the penultimate lap and having endured four DNF's in the four Heats to this point, well upon recognising an opportunity to actually WIN one, the 391 pilot was up for having a go... NielsR seemed to quite enjoy the consequences anyway, as did I! A rather large hit, from a fair way back, unsettled the 184 around the first bend to say the least as the pair of us rattled the armco. NielsR then relinquished the lead to myself around turns three and four with Davros once again proving an unwelcome distraction for him (by mere presence rather than anything deliberately untoward one must stress!). Sparks flew between us as NielsR struggled to keep it in a straight line on the outside of the home straight and although I led around that first bend onto the last lap, it was obvious going up the back straight that NielsR would be getting ample chance to change this situation in his favour, and so it proved. A measured, no more than necessary push into turn three saw the 184 driver retake the lead to complete a classy Heats double, positively fishtailing out of the bend and across the line (above)! [2022 UK Open Championship Final - the grid is formed and awaiting starter's orders...] With Walton (158) having taken the Irish Championship at Nutts Corner on 31st March, Kane_M (238) the World Cup on Baarlo's Long Track 14th April, it was now time for the third 'title' of 2022 to be decided at Skegness. The twenty finalists were called row by row to their UK Open Final grid slots by in-attendance race manager LeeK (39), NielsR in 184 duly taking pole position as top yellow grade scorer from the Heats with ASHNFFC's 125 alongside. Nerves jangled on the rolling lap and as the field rounded turns three and four waiting for the 'GO' signal, some became prematurely restless... As the green flag went down it was NielsR who got away down the home straight with ASHNFFC tucking in behind in second. The 391 car having started outside row two got no further than turn two - snagging a post above the armco through the sheer weight and force from behind and inside, and ending up over the fence completely! The momentary delay presented on the outer bend by my flying machinery only served to increase the quite expected level of turbulence with so many already out wide in these frenzied opening seconds of the race, and knock on effects spilled around and out of that turn... Noticeably the SuperStars having started further back, Cammy, Tsjalle (229) and BenChambers in particular, appeared to keep their cool and stayed tight around that first bend hence managing to avoid the thickest of the carnage on the outside, and though still having some major obstacles to swerve around and push through onto the back straight, they were away to a good start compared to many whose chances of winning already looked severely dented, if not gone completely! Onto the second lap there was a train of six into turn one with NielsR still leading but under significant pressure from ASHNFFC, Frans, NobbyClarke, CB and Ellis_Rogers behind. A bend later ASHNFFC put the bumper in on NielsR and after duelling down the home straight with 125 on the inside, he took the lead with the shoving from 167 and 889 behind assisting him around the bend and past the 184 car (as shown above). ASHNFFC was not going to get away easily however and came under immediate attack from CB into turn three. He rode this, bouncing off the armco to still lead down the home straight then again riding out a cumulative push from that same duo of CB and Ellis_Rogers, this time hitting the armco more heavily but getting a spring out of the bend to pull clear. Having just deposed CB to start lap five in second place, Ellis_Rogers' chances of winning took a major dent out of turn two when, having bounced off the armco upon a hit from NielsR, he then collided once again with the 184 up his inside out of the turn, half spinning as a result and by the time he was into turn three he was down to eighth position. Cammy had also lost crucial time clipping the recovering 889 car onto the back straight, having up to that point been only a car length behind Tsjalle. The driver in 229 further capitalised on his closest SuperStar rival's loss of ground immediately here and moved up to third after knocking CB and NielsR wide around turns three and four, drawing alongside NobbyClarke onto the home straight before edging his way past and into second a lap later. Going into turn one to start lap seven then and with ASHNFFC in 125 half a straight's length ahead in the lead, NielsR gave CB a nudge down the inside of NobbyClarke and into Tsjalle's inside rear (above) - something harder might have had the silver roof wearer in trouble but as it was, the 229 was safe and heading out of turn two with 167, 184 and 108 all clumped together for a moment and losing vital ground whilst Tsjalle was away into a clear second position. As the race went into its second half, ten laps completed, ASHNFFC now had only three car lengths of clear space if he was lucky between himself and the pursuing Tsjalle. Third through eighth positions were all in a very close group but some way back from that lead pair - 143 in third being a quarter lap back from 125 - and indeed for the second successive bend Cammy felt the force from behind, CB having knocked Ellis_Rogers into him in turn three but now needing to involve no third party into turn one and sending the 143 car out wide for a brush with the armco. Cammy retained third with CB continuing to give very close chase, still well within range for the next couple of laps but seeming to opt against any further challenge. Just as Cammy was pulling himself a car length out on CB down the home straight to start lap fourteen, up ahead leader ASHNFFC had Tsjalle for company! Having slid wide and lost time a bend earlier out of turn four, the man in 125 now went wide into turn one. Were his tyres going off? Did he feel the odds were stacked against him? Well whatever the reasons or thought processes going on for the yellow grader who had led for so long here, Tsjalle made sure to give ASHNFFC a brush wide out of turn two with his offside rear quarter - maybe a cautionary shot as well as a means of just delaying the 125 slightly onto the back straight. ASHNFFC did manage to get a dink in on the 229 back bumper immediately at the mid point of turns three and four, though nothing like the type of hit one would have expected were it an all-out attempt for the win, hence very much in keeping with the fashion in which the lead was given up half a lap earlier. It was then only two laps after having taken the lead though that leader 229 was coming under full on, lap down assault! Tsjalle had pushed StockcarboyDanny in 114 aside a bend earlier to lap him, then into turn one StockcarboyDanny stuck one onto Tsjalle's inside nerf rail, sending him fencewards and followed him in there for good measure and just in case there had remained any possible doubt as to his intent! Fortunately for Tsjalle he was able to keep facing the right way and nail the throttle out of that bend and up the back straight, still well clear, with ASHNFFC having actually lost much more time having slid wide and almost ground to a halt - possibly with the shock of what he could see unfolding just in front of him?! Indeed Cammy was now right up behind ASHNFFC as they rounded turns three and four, with CB in turn still keeping him honest behind in fourth. Another couple of laps passed before the 143 car was up the inside of the 125 down the end of the home straight, taking that second place into turn one with CB following him through out of turn two then up the back straight and into third himself. This for CB was shortlived though, as onto the final lap of the race and into turn one ASHNFFC had a dig at the 167 rear end, sending him half spinning wide and backwards at 90 degrees into the armco, retaking that third spot. CB got some forward motion as quickly as he could but not before having seen CharlieS (284) go up the inside. NobbyClarke in 108 was also right on the case, clashing with the recovering 167 in turn two then the pair were neck and neck up the back straight with CB still gathering himself and bouncing off the armco... Up front and having had to lap Davros just prior to commencing the final lap of the race, there were no further unpleasant surprises for Tsjalle. Having previously won the UK Open in 2019 and been runner up to fast track (527) last year, as well as taking 3rd places in 2017 and 2020, he powered out of the last bend (above) and across the finish line in jubilant style to reclaim this title, adding it to those National Points and British ones he currently owns (also making it back to back Final wins having been promoted at Stoke upon ASHNFFC's subsequent docking). At the very same moment Tsjalle was taking the chequered flag here however, there were still top places being fought over... ...ASHNFFC's third came under threat with CharlieS opting for a last bend dive, but it went wrong for him and instead of gaining any positions the 284 car was half spun on the outside of turn four. He was in a way then rescued by the oncoming NobbyClarke knocking him the right way once again and in doing so passing for a fourth place finish - meanwhile CB, having shoved 108 into that bend after their coming together moments earlier, slid wide into CharlieS and those pair tussled onto the home straight with showers of sparks aplenty being thrown, CB just managing to get his nose ahead metres from the finish line to take that fifth place. Seventh place was also not assured until very close to the line, with NielsR finishing a job he had started half a lap earlier in pushing both JDOBBS and d_dickson (783) aside. Ellis_Rogers rounded out the top ten over the line 'as seen' although with the post-event docking of 783, who had beaten 947 into eighth, the Top 10 ended up as follows: 229, 143, 125, 108, 167, 284, 184, 947, 889, 783. Links to even larger 1600p 'original sizes' of the above images for download if anyone might find them of use, are as follows: Heat 1 [143, 800, 527 etc] Heat 1 [889 leads] Heat 2 [184 leads 125] Heat 4 [167 last bend on 454] Heat 5 [Rolling lap] Heat 5 [184 wins!] Final [GRID] Final [First bend chaos] Final [Lap 1 back straight melee] Final [125 takes lead] Final [229 gets a shove] Final [229 drifts to the finish line] Well done again to Tsjalle and thanks as ever to LeeK and FastTrack! 4. Stoke - Thursday 5th May 2022 The ninth meeting of the UK-Dirt F1 2022 season saw nineteen brave competitors take to this Staffordshire track - and if the likes of (Sir Lewis) Hamilton, Russell, Leclerc and Verstappen in the FIA's other F1 series thought their porpoising issues were anything to write home about, perhaps they ought to have booked into this one for a real eye opener on the bouncing front, as well as a test of skills, nerve and sheer grit that must surely rank amongst the tougher offerings in today's eSports scene?! With the second re-gradings of the year also having kicked in prior to the event, giving the grid a little 'shake up' of their own, let's take a very brief look back at some of the sights and noteworthy happenings... fast track (527) had quite a moment down the back straight on the third lap of Heat Two, dropping back to fifteenth as a result. Clearly not too flustered by the tumble however he was soon on his way again - a recovery to ninth place by the end, in a nineteen car field, a creditable effort. CB (167) overhauled leader NielsR (184) at the end of lap twelve in this Heat Two, to take his second UK-Dirt F1 win of 2022 (and first on shale, with the other having come at Baarlo a few weeks previous). NielsR then went on to take his own second success of the season in the very next race, Heat Three, adding to the B-Final he won at Belle Vue back on 10th March. The roller in motion for the evening's main event - and that mischievous NobbyClarke (108), far left, does his best to make the cameraman's job difficult! He'd missed the first Heat after apparently trying to power his big block Chevy with a 5V USB phone charger, rather than the designated car battery it ought to have been connected to... As the Grand Final got underway, Frans (454) led ASHNFFC (125) off turn four, over those fearsome bumps and into turn one for the first time - the driver of the 125 machine having earlier taken Heat One and naturally keen to double up here. The order stayed that way until Frans cracked at the end of lap four, clipping a marker tyre as he rounded turn four which flicked the car wide. ASHNFFC needed no invite to go through, then kept it together into turn one far enough ahead to prevent any immediate challenge from Frans. Out of turn two the gap between the pair was already sufficient to allow a race-winning lead to be built and maintained. Nobody would be getting anywhere near that 125 back bumper for the remainder of the twenty lap distance! ASHNFFC onto the final lap. Second and third-placed Tsjalle (229) and CB respectively are still clearly well up for the chase but time is very much up, and there were to be no unexpected dramas for the leader between here and the wave of the chequered. As the cars file over the start-finish and onto the last lap of the Final, and BenChambers (800) has a brief two-wheeled experience... ...seconds later and having been up to 8th place, disaster struck for National Points leader Cammy (143), powerless to avoid a recovering NielsR. Had this been earlier in the race no doubt Cammy would have carried on, but knowing this crucial time lost in being half spun to the infield had dropped him from the points paying places, and with little to no chance in the remaining 2/3rds lap of rectifying that, he retired the car. Remarkably this was the first time in the nine 2022 UK-Dirt F1 Finals thus far in which 143 had failed to score. Having led from 'pole' in the Grand National I (391) managed to stay at the front for all but 0.75 of those sixteen racing laps - Nobmeister (435) not quite managing to displace myself in the closing stages, before Tsjalle made his move on the pair of us as we headed into turn one for the last time! Kane_M (238) and BraderzzCooper (468) were also well in the mix as the bumpers flew into the first bend of this the final lap of the night. Half a lap later though it was reigning National Points and British Champion Tsjalle holding off Nobmeister round the last bend and heading for the finish line to win, as the rest of us settled the podium places! A brilliant first win of 2022 for driver 229 - rounding off a fine performance of such high consistency all night after 7th, 6th and 8th in the Heats and that 2nd in the Final, adding up to a 77pt haul and that coveted 'top scorer' spot. Must say a much belated thanks and massive well done to MoR137 for creating such a fantastic track here! Its initial release was right around the time I was stopping racing in mid 2013 so had actually never tried it until the pre-meeting practice for this. A great challenge, really extracts the best from these F1 shale cars I think, as well as demanding nothing less than full-on concentration and upmost skills from the people trying to navigate them around the place. And of course visually stunningly lifelike to how the real thing was. Cannot speak highly enough of it Had to re-jig how these images are embedded into this post and display them direct from Discord, but permanent links to these images as also uploaded elsewhere in case ever needed are as follows: Heat 2 - the 527 roll! Heat 2 - CB takes the lead Final - GRID Final - 125 leads early on Final - 125 last lap Final - 800 on two wheels Final - Cammy out Grand National - Finish! Cheers, Corny

  6. Still with Heat Three and going into the last bend I (391) found myself in a SuperStar sandwich. Tempted to say 'the meat' in it but given the car colours, maybe er, blue stilton with a black pepper crust?! Hmm, better stop there actually before nausea sets in... ...the scene as it panned out certainly seemed to leave Jack Ward (484) a little cheesed off anyway as he stayed right where he was, in the fence, but I for one could have no issues with the move as executed by Ellis_Rogers (889), a fine piece of StockCar driving with the bumperwork executed to perfection and moving himself up from 9th to 6th in the process. The 20-car Final grid rolling, barely a blink of an eye before the green flag is to be waved... Lap five of the Final. StockcarboyDanny relieves Mav of the lead in turn one... ...and Kane_M (238) pulls a gap on his fellow SuperStars StockcarboyDanny had looked quite alright up front and poised perhaps to make it a Heats and Final triple... As the '5 to go' lap board was being prepared however, something went drastically wrong around turn four, the 114 pilot spinning of himself out. By the time he had managed to recover, Tomdavison was through. Just less than five laps remain, and Tomdavison has the 461 car comfortably clear of the field and on the way to a first UKDirt F1 Final win of 2022. Three and a bit laps left and with 461 nearly a quarter lap ahead, competition for the podium places is intense. With so many cars jostling in such close confines it was perhaps inevitable something had to give, and give it did - no sooner had this pack got down the home straight than it was fast track (527) whose turn it was now to catch those marker tyres! Ellis_Rogers came off worst of all with the 889 car immediately stricken and several cars were sent wide into that bend, though it was not the carnage it could have been. In the Grand National StockcarboyDanny took the lead at the start of lap six, moving both Nobbyclarke and Mav aside, but a few laps later a momentary delay in traffic for 114 opened the door for the 108 driver to go through. The pair were virtually inseparable for the remainder with little to no difference in pace between them, and it was perhaps only being unsighted by back marker Walton (158) up ahead that made the leader 108's task that bit more complex into the closing stages. Right to the final bend it went and StockcarboyDanny got the crucial shove in to go through and make it three wins on the night. A case of "so near and yet so far" for Nobbyclarke after his last gasp loss of Heat Two earlier, but with a 48pt haul and clearly in such strong form it seems unlikely he will have to wait too long to add his name and number to this seasons F1 race winners' chart. I gather you likely have to click on these to get the 'full size' pictures up by the way. They are still downsized from the originals in order not to eat up the forum's entire bandwidth in one sitting! If anyone wants any of the originals which are 2560x1600 then please let me know. Cheers, Corny
  7. Northampton (WCQR 8 of 15) - Thursday 28th April 2022 With the rubber dust having long since settled on this eighth 2022 UK-Dirt F1 World Championship Qualifier, those 35mm film reels from several photographers positioned around the raceway are back from the developers. So now for a look at just what those lenses captured and what went on during this slick session on the traditional Northampton tarmac. Plenty of high quality, fast, hard but fair racing was in evidence, as well as a healthy dose of unusual and eye-catching moments along the way... The charge towards the front in the early laps of Heat One - HGR (777) defies gravity for a brief moment as a result! By the end of lap seven StockcarboyDanny (114) was through to a race-winning lead, edging sharky (248) aside here. Mav's (525) second place finish in Heat One was a season's best so far. Last bend of Heat Two. Having won the yellow top battle in the early stages then taken over at the front from Mav at the start of lap eleven, leader NobbyClarke (108) had a back marker (yours truly!) ahead and a determined Trez (259) behind. With simultaneous contact both front and back, the laws of physics took over and the 108 went skywards! Trez' momentum carried him to the plate along with NobbyClarke quickly down to Earth and still ahead - but by the time the pair had scrambled out of that turn and away from that dramatic scene, Tomdavison (461) had taken his usual racing line through the bend, gone up their inside and was powering to victory! Four wide through turn four a couple of laps into Heat Three, and StockcarboyDanny gets his nose ahead to lead... ...withstanding his rivals' best efforts a lap later to pull clear from then on and take his second win of the evening. Lap six of Heat Three for sharky and having already been in quite a skirmish in the same place a circuit earlier, this time around he got it all wrong on corner entry, the 248 car slamming into the inner marker tyres, bucking up with the stop and well, the images from then on speak for themselves!

  10. Watched this last night with no prior knowledge as to who had won the World, so was watching it afresh in the true sense of the word, and I have to say what a top quality job from all concerned in the production. Editing and commentary top notch. Hope I am not speaking out of turn but I hope this type of feature is not being taken for granted, as it's plain to see what time and effort must have gone into it and it is a true credit to all concerned. Thanks, Corny
  11. Hello Danny, It's the first time I've read the forum in a little while and just noticed your post here - 'Danny17' and 'big roll' at Sheffield I put two and two together and realised who you must be. I remember the roll very well, I always used to stand at the end of the home straight at that time on the terracing, it was a big 'un, the video didn't really do it justice as it was filmed from that gantry above and you didn't really get the perspective on it. Much scarier when the car was actually hurtling towards you, though I can't imagine it was all too pleasant in the cab either like (did those infield marker tyres cushion the blow a bit?!). Just off the top of my head it must've been what, maybe Whit (end of May) Bank Holiday Monday '99? Or am I a year or so early with that? You used to go well round there like, some magical nights back then at Sheffield, loved the 98-2001 era - Mondays, under lights, louder cars than now, more shale somehow, Lundy still 'on it'. My ears always used to be ringing when my head hit the pillow every meet without fail. Cheers Corny aka Neal Bell
  12. Well, what can I say - I haven't stopped crying since Thursday night. Just when I thought there couldn't possibly be any more tears, another 5 gallons straight on the floor! Oh please help me. Is there a number I can ring? You see, it's the first time I've failed to qualify through an F1 Semi Final. After a couple of early delays I found myself in 12th place, and though I made it up to 10th in the closing laps, Lister off Red Dwarf, who seemingly hasn't read the unwritten rule that I HAVE to qualify for every World Final else it just isn't quite the same, that spiteful little man in the 122 car, had the sheer AUDACITY to challenge me, hitting me bend after bend, deposing me and causing me to end up back in 12th into the last bend, then even further back after another crash. Who on earth does he think he is???! I'll be writing to my MP you can be sure of that, you haven't heard the last of this. Thought the horsemeat scandal stirred up some emotion? You've seen nothing!
