DanSkin Posted August 1, 2012 Report Posted August 1, 2012 UKDirt F1 Stockcars - Birmingham - 8:30PM - 2 August 2012 World Championship Semi Final #2 As shown here, the Semi Final grids for 2012 have been confirmed. In the run to the 2012 World Championship TomD #112 topped the qualifying points, pipping DanSkin #236 by just 3 points, both being clear of the remaining drivers by over 100 points. Defending World Champion Mike #1 headed the pack followed by dode #151 and Johno #3. TomD picked the Kings Lynn Semi Final, which he went on to win last week and so the grid for the Birmingham Semi Final lines up as follows: DanSkin’s consistent performances over the qualifying rounds guaranteed him a pole position for one or the other of the Semi Finals – his best score coming at new addition Yarmouth in May this year which included a second place in the final, his only final win this season has been in defence of the British title at Coventry. Taking the remaining front row spot is defending World Champion Mike #1, his best score by far was picked up on the slippy stuff at Mildenhall with significantly lower scoring on tarmac than might have been expected. Recent troubles could hamper him, but no doubt he will be there and setting his sights on a good position for Skegness. Row two belongs to dodge #560 and LeeK #39, with the preferred inside position going to dodge - like DanSkin his best points haul came at Yarmouth in May and in fact the bulk of his scoring comes from the tarmac rounds. LeeK is one of only a few drivers to have raced every qualifying round and has picked up most of his points on the shale this season. Dutchmen Harmen #262 and Chevkiller #184 take row 3, both having scored most of their points on the tarmac. Harmen took the meeting final at Nutts Corner in April on his way to his best scoring, while Chevykiller had put in a similar performance (final and best points) at Birmingham earlier in the month. Returning driver Tinman #48 lines up alongside fast track #527 on row 4, both having scored well at the shale rounds. Tinman with a second position in the meeting final at Coventry in the first qualifying round of the season on his way to his best score and fast track coming away with a healthy haul from the final round at Belle Vue despite only managing a 10th place in the meeting final! Rows 5 and 6 include qualifying round final winners Marco #292 and MoR #137 (Mildenhall and Yarmouth respectively). With the exception of Marco, this group of drivers all had their best qualifying rounds on tarmac and scored in the high forties at those meetings - Kane #238 at Birmingham and Samwit #254 at Nutts Corner. Perhaps Kane will be the most pleased with this semi final draw having already picked up a few race wins at this track earlier in the year, however this group has the makings of an excellent mid pack battle! Further back we have the Northampton qualifying round meeting final winner Daveyboy #380 and Janharm #107 who scored heavily, with some wins, on the tarmac of Ipswich. No doubt both drivers will look to make quick progress through the pack. Newcomer Ricko #341 also joins towards the back of the field, along with travel #365 being the drivers to have qualified for this semi final from only 3 appearances. Good luck to everyone racing! Please note that as Drumbstick #41 was called to race in the Kings Lynn Semi Final the reserves list is now as follows: 290 41 391 515 131 233 21 150 164 90 129 16 31 419 550 495 450 124 126 255 518 8 29 87 456 This semi final looks likely to have a few non-starters requiring reserve drivers. Please please please book in by 7.30PM tomorrow as this will be the final cut off for arranging the Semi Final grid! Currently the following semi final drivers are NOT booked in to race: 292 380
