Guest JonT Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 This is my first ever F2 skin, it took me a while to work out how you get them running in rFactor but so far I'm quite pleased with the results... I might modify it a bit and try and enter it in the online league.
Guest JonT Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 Looking good Mr Thanks mate... I'll work on it a bit more yet.
samson Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 That's decent for a first attempt but if you were to use it here the numbers would fail on the drop shadow being blue it needs to be white. Other than that the only other problem I have personally is the exhaust being red lose that but top effort all the same. Takes plenty practice to get the cars spot on and lots of learning. I'm constantly learning new things with each car I do so keep at it. Guest JonT Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 Thanks for the comments guys, I'm already working on a couple of new ideas plus an F1 skin, although I'm not that keen on these modern Stock Cars, it's a damn shame no-one has ever made a mod with the old 70's and 80's beasts. Samson:- If I did white 'drop shadows' you wouldn't see them on the white back ground so may as well not have any ? I changed the exhaust colour because it looked a bit boring left as standard and I think it needs something there to break up/contrast with the other colours. Thanks for the input, it's always good to have comments and criticism, it gives us more ideas and sometimes points out things we maybe missed. JonT.
Toff244 Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 i can appreciate this however if you intend to use this skin to race online here at ukdirt the rules stipulate that: Numbers on the wings must be black numbers on a white background if you have a white wing that is your white background
Toff244 Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 Or your other option is to do what i did with mine... i put black numbers on a white background and then put all of that on a black drop shadow.
Guest JonT Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 Yes, I like that Toff, looks very effective.
Toff244 Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 it might be worth grabbing a couple f the skinpacks and have a look through see what styles you like most people have most roof in there so you can see how they work with different colours
samson Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 also you could do this although I don't have a drop shaddow I do have a thick white outline. I rust rasterize my number layer and add a black outline
Guest JonT Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 it might be worth grabbing a couple f the skinpacks and have a look through see what styles you like most people have most roof in there so you can see how they work with different colours To be honest Toff I don't really like a lot of skins I've seen, they all seem to 'messy' to me, too much colour, too many decals... I like the cars much more when they're kept pretty simple and 'clean', if you get what I mean. A lot of cars have that much detailing thrown on them they just look a mess and then all end up looking the same as each other.
Toff244 Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 i know what you mean and i completely agree, i was thinking more for ideas about how people approach the numbers, there are lots of ways you could go about it. looking through what others had done helped me get what i got, i looked at what i liked and took my own slant on it, my bonnet flags are a prime example saw something similar but added the gradient to suit my self.

Yes that's a very nice car mate, the flag effect on the front is very good and nicely done, the numbers are great and I'll take some ideas from those. Great car mate, very well prepared and not 'in ya face'.
