After some interest in Dirt Rally, I've set a league and session up.

First of all, obviously you're going to need Dirt Rally. I believe this is on sale atm on Steam so you'll have to be quick if you are thinking of getting it.

Secondly, you'll need to sign up to the league. The link below will take you straight to it (Possibly best viewed in IE), once you've joined, it will then appear in game under the league tab. Let us know your ingame name on here so we know who is who!

To start with, we're doing 8 Stages of Rally GB Wales with varying conditions. car selection is the Escort Mk2, Fiat 131 Abarth and a Mini Cooper for those that fancy something more sedate.

The session is due to start at midnight tonight and will be up until 10.00pm next Monday so there is plenty of time to complete the stages. you do not have to do them all in one go either and can save and exit inbetween stages. There's also service between every two stages. There is NO RESET, if you bin it... you're out, so bare that in mind!

Historic Rally GB Wales

Car set: Escort Mk2, Fiat 131 Abarth, Mini Cooper

Duration: 23/6 00.00am - 29/6 10.00pm

My name on the Codemasters site is just Josh.

Just done the stages and what a disaster that was! :D Crashed heavily a few times on stage 1, 4 or 5 and the last stage, losing about 40-60 seconds on each. On the others I wasn't to far behind the other time on there at the moment, but time will tell how bad it actually was :)

First time playing really after the new ffb update, the little dips and bumps really throw you around and pull you towards the edge now lol.

Think I dropped everything to 60% on the ffb options and that made it slightly less scary.

Managed to avoid getting the dreaded 15 second penalty on all the stages which is nice.

Only real damage i got was from flying straight into a set of those square height restriction? poles on stage 6 or 7.

Must of been close to totalling the car but managed to limp home in a cloud of steam.

Just completed my run, a few offs in Stage 5, 6 and 7 which were annoying but not a bad run. The times were pretty close on some of the stages.

No-one has any fear of being last now I am having a go!!!!

So come on join up and show me how useless I am

Can anyone tell me how to set reverse please?

My controls say brake/reverse and I use my pedals as a brake but the reverse wont activate using that pedal.

So many times I had to recover the vehicle when I needed just to reverse!

Really trying to get to grips with the handbrake also - Its funny to watch me :5:

I WILL do a stage without crashing (If my mechanics haven't given up on repairing the car already!) and in a decent time :)

My guess would be that is more for a Pad with brake an reverse as 1 Mav. try an assign a button on the wheel for reverse.

Any way to go back and see each individual stage leaderboard?

You can pick each stage on the page and see the relative gap, it doesn't show individual times as yet by the looks of it.

Not sure, on manual gears (which you want to use) you just go all the way down the gear box. Otherwise, I'm not sure if there is a key binding to set.

I changed to manual gears reluctantly, did a test run in Monaco in the Mini and it was great!

But then trying to run in the Escort was a different story!

Not quite got the hang of it yet, and one slight error costs me so much lol

At one point the co driver asked "Are we down on power?" :o

Anyway I have finished it with three wheels, a bust radiator and hardly any panel work, and by the time I got to the finish my mechanic had gone home :042:

I eagerly await the next round, but could my time be halved so I can keep up with you lot????? ;-)

5 entrants so far, so not too bad. Obviously, some have had problems in the stages but it's not an easy thing and it is very challenging. Couple of days left as well if anyone wants to have a go.

You certainly want to be using manual gears Mav, Keeping it on the road and listening to the notes is key. I pretty much drive it on the notes and if they are wrong (and they are in places), it can cause a big issue for me!

I will keep sticking events up. I suspect that when the Rallycross stuff is released, there will be a bigger driver base here for it. For the next one, I'm looking at doing the Monte Carlo Rally in Group A cars (Escort Cosworth, Subara and Lancia Delta)
