Kane238 Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) Thanks everyone for racing tonight. Another top night of teams racing. After the battles were done in the Heats, the Nelson Tigers came out on top with a total of 58 points. Joint 2nd was a surprise to many with the Christchurch Glen Eagles and Palmerston North Panthers getting 41 points each. In 4th were the Rotorua Rebels, a lot further down than they usually are after the Heat stage. The Great British Lions forfeited after their third Heat and come home in 5th. Semi Final 1 was between the usual Finalists, Nelson Tigers and Rotorua Rebels, but this time they had to fight it out to get into the Final. The Rebels got off to a great start in 1st and 2nd before a moment of magic by Ashley England and TomD halted their hopes of getting into yet another Final. Despite the efforts from Marten and Durk, the Tigers were victorious in Semi Final 1. Semi Final 2 next up and this time it was between the Christchurch Glen Eagles and Palmerston North Panthers. A very tightly contested race with multiple lead changes, the Eagles came out on top in the end with some superb blocking by SKint. Finally it was the Final time. The Nelson Tigers were looking to get back to back Team Championship wins whilst the Christchurch Glen Eagles made it into their first Final on the first time of asking! A chaotic start meant Tosh lead the way with Ashley and Wardy right on his tail. Around the 5 to go mark it looked like Tosh was unstoppable until TomD got the vital spin onto him which allowed Ashley and Wardy through to take the lead. The Eagles tried their best to get back into it but it wasn't enough as the Tigers came through to take the Final! Tigers - 58 Panthers - 41 Eagles - 41 Rebels - 36 Lions - 12 Semi 1 - Tigers, Rebels Semi 2 - Eagles, Panthers Teams Final - Tigers, Eagles It's the World 240's next up, Keep an eye out for details of that soon.
