I can't seem to open the file ? Probably due to it being saved in a different version of max ?

 

I have Max 3.1 & 5 and can't open it ? not sure if anyone knows the answer ?

 

Maybe it'll work if saved as 3ds format ?

If you want to save it as a .3ds file you Export it
