  1. Ok... pretty soon i'll be moving,

Missus has BT wireless router... the new thing BT is offering, know i need to connect it via ethernet ( i think) from reading a few bits for online gaming,

Now my pc hasn't got a ethernet card, so what i'm asking is

Do i need this card, if so what 1... looked on ebay and there endless

Also how much will this affect my online ukdirt racing, ie if the kids are on wireless on there pc, and i'm on wired.... with a 4mb connection, will it cause warp online, or do i switch there pc's off..... lol... nope can't see that 1 happening.

My PC is pretty old and only had a 56k phone line connection card in it but I took that out and replaced it with a Safecom Ethernet Lan Card which I picked up off ebay for a fiver and it works great :king:

I'm on a 4mb connection too and most of the time when I'm in a meeting/online practise I got one bro online on his PC then the other playing on xbox live and I hardly ever get warp. The only times I do get proper warp is if one of them is running a net connection hungry program for example something like Limewire.

So you should be fine as long as there not on anything like Limewire but then again you said youres is wireless whereas mine is all Ethernet cables so it maybe slightly better or worse.

  2. i realise i ain't Nick (lol) but as a suggestion, why not save one of the cars models under a new name? that way you'll be able to apply different materials to the cars......

That don't work and you cant have the cars as the same name anyway can you? Cause 3Ds max wont let me have cars with the same names.

  3. Hey Nick just in case you didn't get my pm I made this topic like you originally said.

Anyway I did what you said and used one of the material slots to put the skin on one of my cars. Then I selected the next car to apply a different skin to that using the same material slot but when I put that skin on the new selected car, the old car got that new skin as well even though its not selected so I dunno whats going on there

  4. I got Flatout 1 for the Xbox and it was ok for a while but got boring quickly. It has great graphics and physics for an Xbox game but it was just too arcady/yanky orientated for me and the fact that your guy was just waring casual clothes without even an racing helmet is ridiculously stupid

The best banger racing games I have ever played and still own are the first 2 Destruction Derby games on the PSX.

Also might I add the mini Demolition Derby game in Saints Row is really really good! The banger racing element is all there besides 2 things that need to be sorted, the cars shouldn't blow up and they should bend.

  5. Turn off system restore, that is probably where they are living hence they keep returning.

When you have it turned off scan again and you might find it comes up clean.

    THANKS A TON!!!

That really did the trick and I was able to pick up the main viruses now all those Trojans have stopped. Ever need any favours from me don't hesitate to ask

  6. Looking good mate

Although I noticed on the flame decals, did you not put the chrome effect over the whole thing? It might just be psp7 chrome filter but if not try merging all the layers then do it. Be careful not to save it though, a mistake I made a few times

i appied the chrome effect to the base grey layer only, then added the rest on top

Yea thats cool if you want to make the decals, text and whatnot standout but it looks more realistic with it over the whole thing.

What I do is duplicate the body then add the chrome filter onto that duplicate. Then I set that chrome layer to hard light and put it at around 50% to 70% opacity depending on the car and then bring that layer to the front over all the decals and text. Sometimes though the decals and text will look too dark/faded so I just mark around them with the lasso tool then delete that area on the chrome layer to make em standout but still look like they are part of the chrome effect if you know what I mean.

I use Photoshop 7 to do this so its proly a bit different with Paint shop pro

  7. Yea that alt zooming and rotating really helps!

Heres my latest render with wheels and lighting effects with the help of Rikard and his ace tutorials:

    IPB Image

The wheels do like kinda silly with no skin on em but I'll sort that out when I know how to ;)

  8. Hi guys I'm having big problems with lots of these Trojan horse dialler viruses. They keep popping up like every 5 mins with my AVG anti virus detecting them. It seems they keep appearing in the temporary internet files folder. these are the steps I have taken to try and get rid of them:

    - Scanned my whole pc several times and deleting around 4 or 5 viruses each time.

    - ran ad-aware over my whole comp about 2 times.

    - used spybot search & destroy 3 times.

    - Went into the temp. folders and deleted all the junk myself.

    - deleted cookies and temporary internet files within internet options.

And yet these buggers still keep popping up, I really don't have any idea what to do....
