If u didnt need a laptop in the first place why did you say you wanted one???? you could get a desktop with double the capabilities of one for roughly the same price
Need and want are two different things!!!!

You may have something there Tosh but i'm not sure how to check this.
Could it be the way I have installed Heat?
I installed Heat, I think the final one was from essentials.
Then I installed one Mod think it was F1 first as this seemed the more stable at the time.
Then I copied the whole Hasbro folder from my old machine.

Graphics problem now sorted.
I now have another problem. When trying to play online as soon as i hit enter after typing in the password it crashes and produces the following file.
Any help much appreciated.
P.S. Anyone with mobility graphics card problems pm me for info.

just had a play with this 1 im sure there are many problems with it but tbh tell someone who gives a toss cause i dont
I can see a couple of big problems with it.
A) Someone has stolen my car
B) They are faster than me

As the last season of these had racers from most of the other UKDirt Mods, would it be very naughty if we popped a post in each forum directing people to this thread?
-
log file then?
-
Blake, if you can paste the log file that appears into this thread one of our resident guru's will no doubt be able to help. The first thing to do is make sure you have followed the installation instructions correctly. I take it you have installed Heat essentials first? Get it here

I need some help with my new laptop.
HP Pavilion Media Center HDX9160 Notebook
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium 32-bit
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7500 2.2 GHz x 2
4096 MB (2 x 2048 MB)
500 GB (2 x 250 GB) SATA Hard Disk Drive 5400rpm
20.1” WSXGA+ High-Definition HP Ultra Brightview Widescreen Display
ATI™ Mobility Radeon™ HD 2600 XT with up to 2047MB Total Available Graphics Memory 256MB dedicated.
I have installed Heat from the CD and Essentials and although the game works fine the graphics in race are messed with blocks of black appearing and sometimes parts of the car are missing, mainl y the odd wheel here and there (it varies). This appears to be totally random. I have tried all resolution and quality settings.
ATI say they don't have any new drivers for the card in it's mobile form to download from their site but the laptop manufacturers will be supplying them. HP do not have a later one listed.
Anyone have any ideas?

I am with Orange
I get unlimited texts, 300 minutes per month, plus free evening and weekends over broadband phone. 8 meg Broadband (runs at 6 most of the time) soon to be updated to 16 meg.
Customer services have been improving steadily and the Broadband team seem very clued up.

Cheers for posting Aub I was going too, but the new laptop arrived and have been swearing at it since.

Any room for the current lch world chump?

Maybe it would be worth a poll to see whether the current R-Factor racers would prefer to keep their Sunday night slot as opposed to sharing Thursdays with Heat. I would have thought this would have been a better scenario for those wanting to do both as it will give them time to re-adapt to the other mod and work on setups.
But most F1 and F2 fans would be at real life meetings, I know I would be and with some tracks 4+ hours away (I don't know how far other people travel) I personally wouldn't be back in time to race, I assume this is the same for other people.
Hence the poll!!
We all have choices in life

Go to login screen, untick the remember me button, enter your login details and then re apply the tick. AND THERE IS NO NEED TO SHOUT!!!
-
thats odd, can you go into your Bios settings and set it to boot from CD? If you can then remember to set it back to boot from your C drive again once you have done.
-
I have a Dell laptop with their own Windows installer cd. You CAN format using it! Set your PC to boot form the CD drive, this then gives you the all the normal Windows CD options.

Be careful if he is a very big scouser and you blow his mobo just after they have lost to Havant
Just looking at your case again and it looks like your gonna struggle getting enough ventilation space to let the hot air out.
I'm thinking its got to be a fault with the card, as the laptop i'm just considering buying has 2 (yes two) NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX 512MB cards in it with little or no room for cooling.

Dont be stupid Budge you havent got the skill.
R-Factor racers are a far more skillfull lot than Heat ever were.
Oh hang on a minute where did most of them come from?
Great choice with Mr Smith, clown prince to WF podium, was it 3 years running? You cant win whilst using the bumper though!!
-
Try picking up the can of Lynx removing the lid and spraying it over the graphics card
-
You need to have an exit for the hot air (nothing to do with 'dilema' thread lol), all you are doing there is forcing the hot air to the other side of your case. Can you remove the other side? If you can it would be better to place one fan as you have it now and one at the other side but facing away from the case. The fan facing away will then draw the hot air into itself and blow it away.

Aye, perfectly reasonable thread with a valid point and people who don't even race rFactor seem to think they know best.
You don't like it fine, you've made your point, why even read this thread then? To stir it up as usual.
Typical answer from you problem is the forum is a small place and you spout rubbish all over it so its hard to get away from you
How dare you comment, you dont even race R-Factor.
Seems to me he would sooner have a closed shop of rodders and before Kruiz spouts another load of drivel can I remind him that I won the fairest driver in F2's 2006 and was 3rd in 2007.
You cant have Stock Car Racing without Stock Car Drivers.
Kruiz do you think all the real life drivers you have riddiculed as being too hard hitters for their own good, actually give a damn about being a Super Star or Red grade. I THINK NOT.
Rod if you like and hit if you like its what the sport is all about!!

Happy Birthday Davey have a good one and dont open any pressies from you know who!!!!!

Help required with graphics card

I am now at a total loss with this. Have tried everything I can think of and other stuff I have found on forums. Can anyone please shed some light.
I have managed to get the graphics mainly sorted.
I have done all the Dual Core stuff mentioned on here and elsewhere and tried every possible variant.
I can connect to all the UK Dirt servers but then it crashes when I hit return after entering the password.
I have disabled all Firewalls (must be ok as it connects).
All other games I have installed run perfectly although I have not tried them online as i dont play any other game online other than Heat.
Not sure about the UI res Tosh mentioned, I just copied the ones from my old machine, will this be a problem as they are from an XP machine as opposed to the awful Vista on the new one.
Any help will be much appreciated.
