  1. Alternative route via Edinburgh now being considered.
  2. Mixed meetings gets a vote from me too, but don't forget the Saloons in any potential double or even triple header!!!
  3. I'll start things off...I like the idea of running a split format at every meeting regardless of car turnout, as the reduced car numbers in the heats would allow a bit more margin for error (and bad luck!), and thus put more emphasis on the larger grid Final whether it be all-in or via top scorers and Consi qualifiers. However I can have no complaints about the all-in system but rather than extending the meetings to split formats, perhaps some additional races pre and post meeting could be considered such as: Non National-Point scoring Whites & Yellows races at every meeting for a separate championship with the points perhaps counting towards a White & Yellow championship race, but still have the bona-fide W&Y Championship being determined by National Points scored over the whole season. Non National Point scoring Blue & Red top races at every meeting, perhaps counting towards a Ben-Fund style championship race. Non National Point scoring "Accumulator" race at every meeting, where scores are multiplied x4 for white tops, x3 for yellow tops, x2 for blue tops and normal scores for reds, again counting towards a separate championship and indeed an Accumulator Championship Final.
  4. I've noticed on the Sexbierum results thread that there have been a few comments about the short length of some meetings and subsequently, a lack of enthusiasm/spirit from some members. I know that admin usually fire up a thread at the end of the season for suggestions towards the next season's racing but if you're like me and have the memory of a goldfish, unless you write something down you never remember it when you need to! Therefore, rather than clog up the results thread, feel free to post something here between now and the end of the season and you never know, admin might give one of your suggestions a trial before the end of the season provided it does not interfere with the National Points/Shootout systems.
  5. Mornin' all, I will be travelling down from Aberdeen to Coventry on Saturday 4th September for the BriSCA F1 World Final and may have a couple of spare seats in the car if anyone is interested. I have yet to make any accommodation arrangements as the last time I went to Coventry, I just slept in the car (mind you, that was in June rather than September!) however if you are on my route south (Aberdeen-Perth-Stirling-Glasgow-M6) and want to save adding another car to the queue to Brandon, let me know and I'm sure we can sort something out fuel or hotel wise. Rather than head to Northampton for the World Masters on Sunday, I'd be trying to find a meeting on the road north although at the moment it looks as if the options are limited to either Upper Eden or a mad dash to Lochgelly. Likewise, I'll be heading down to Skegness for the F2 World Final but it has yet to be confirmed if I need to take the car. If I do have to drive, I'll be leaving Aberdeen on Friday 17th for the Consolation Semi and heading back up the road on Sunday 19th rather than staying for the revenge meeting. The only accommodation arrangements I'll be making for this one is bringing the tent, so if you're interested in sharing fuel costs if I do have to drive doon, you'll have to sort yourself oot! Gimme a PM or an e-mail if you may be interested - Wainman lickers need not apply
  6. Chasing Pixies is not one of my favourite past-times Well done on the race-winning maximum tho, uncatchable all night Thanks for running a super slick meeting Kev and Spike...whilst Trav disappeared out front for the entire night, I have to admit I enjoyed some great battles with Spike in every race, with Leek, Corny and Johno gatecrashing on occasions aswell. Can't grumble at top 5 finishes in every race...even if Johno spun me out of 2nd on the last bend of the Final! Was just relieved to be able to find reverse so quick and fumble across the line...to be honest I really didn't know who was behind me or how far back they were as I was too busy concentrating on avoiding those marshal's banks...I had lapped a couple of cars a few laps previously so was kind of hoping it was one of them but when the thud arrived, it kind of answered my question! Fair play to ya tho Johno, you had to give it a go...and despite your self-imposed excursion over the bank, you only lost one place! Looking forward to seeing you all at the World Final!
  7. Wha hey a milestone at last! Another box ticked Informative read as always
  8. Great to have Saloons back on UK-Dirt, the use of two servers will certainly help for well subscribed meetings such as tonight once admin and the RM's get used to the format. Some action packed racing tonight...the DFC especially!!! Happy to score points in every race tonight, especially considering the lack of setup time and a sticky throttle pedal. Look forward to seeing you all again soon!
  9. Some epic racing on Tuesday lads, Heat 2 really was a belter all the way to the chequer. Got lucky when avoiding cars that bit the tyrewall but my luck ran out on the last lap of the Final when a gaggle of backmarkers decided to spin each other on the back straight, and rather than move forward onto the centre, decided to reverse and block the track!!! Dropped me from 5th to 9th but such is life as they say, still enjoyed the "feature length" meeting!
  10. I have officially lost what ever small amount of marbles I have left Didn't see owt on MI or Semi Grids thread so checked the rules on the website and was sure I asked in the server to double check but doesn't look like I was paying attention as I still had Stoxkarts on the brains! Damn that Ian Higgins!!! If I'd have known it was top 10 I would have...well, done nowt else cos I wasn't bloody fast enough! Least I can bring this to the attention of admin anyway, save confusing me next year lol Bring on the Consi Semi PARP PARP!
  11. Thought it was only top 9 from the Semi's???
  12. Well done to all the qualifiers...wasn't quite as action packed as I had feared it was going to be but I still paid the price for a lack of track time. Enjoyed a great battle for a few laps with DanSkin and Pedz until they got me oot their way and carried on their own battle for 8th...then was involved in a battle with Marky for a few laps until we came upon Spike stranded broadside across the back straight. Luckily (for me) Spike engaged first gear rather than reverse and sent Mark up the plating as he rejoined...but rather than see me miss out on the action Spike decided to plant me into the turn 1 plating on the next lap! The rest of the race was spent in the wheel tracks of Spike...not having enough pace to catch him but still hoping there would be some final lap frolics somewhere. Twas not to be...but there's always the Consolation Semi! Hope to cya'll there
  13. If the Semi's are the first races on the programme then I'm the same as Leech I'm afraid, I'll take to the grid for the Semi only and give it a bash (literally) unless there are heats scheduled to run before the Semi's in which case there's nowt to lose...apart from a few wheels!
  14. Have no fear Aub...I'm gonna build a prototype over the winter with a wee wing in a Kitson styleeee...you'll be so jealous
  15. Fast Aberdonian Race Commentator Enterprises are proud to present the all conquering Flat-oot Arse-oot Racing Team Stoxkart that led a Scottish 1-2 in the Final at Birmingham Wheels on Saturday 7th August. Next stop, the Scottish Championship at Crimond this weekend...follow the PARP PARP of F.A.R.T!!! Seriously tho folks, they may not be everyone's cup of tea from a spectator's point of view but the hard work of former online racer Colin Bunyard is now being taken to the next level by Ian & Paul Higgins and their team...28 karts were on track at Brum on Saturday and the action was hard-hitting to say the least. Around 20 karts will be racing at Crimond this weekend and they are hoping to break the 30 kart barrier at Skegness at the end of this month. If you've never raced before or if you are looking for something a bit different without all the hassle, then give these a try...they are superb fun and very competitive. Some of you will take to it like a duck to water with yer flatoot hits Click on over to the Stoxkarts Website and see what all the fuss is aboot.
  16. A shame you have to step down Johno but this is a game after all, and the big, bad real world has to come first! A big thanks from me for being so helpful on my return to the league and answering all of my queries promptly and honestly, and of course for all of your efforts with the league and the race meetings themselves. As you say, it's all thanks to teamwork but it takes a good leader to keep a team together and it seems you have been just that, and I can honestly say I have always had 100% confidence in yourself and the admin team since I rejoined UK-Dirt. In the meantime, here's to admin keeping up all of the fantastic work so far, to a brilliant World Final and of course all the best to Johno!
  17. Bring back the Auld Enemies races!!! No holds barred Allcomers after the Dash me thinks...let's see the English up the wall in a Honeymonster stylee!!!
  18. Murf...Dazza...tossing...I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere...
  19. Great fun last night lads, despite Tom's dirty bassa tactics in Heat 2 and my self-inflicted nil scores in both the Final and the GN whilst running well Really didn't know what to expect last night but the opening heat certainly woke me up with cars flying in every direction at the start...the track is a great challenge as you try and hook up a quick lap whilst trying to hold off or attack one of your fellow competitors, plus racing these Eff Tooz on shale always seems to be an absolute delight...great work by all involved. Chuffed to hold off Drumb on the last bend for 3rd in the opening heat (fair race as always, great stuff)...felt the wrath of Tom in Heat 2 (just caught my back corner at the wrong angle and sent me round for a 360) but had a great battle back up the field and had a top scrap with Spike right up til the last corner, when I vaulted from 8th to 4th as cars went in every direction other than towards the finish line Luck ran oot the in the Final after a great scrap with Tom for a few laps til he slipped by, and then got locked in a battle with Grasser...drifted wide on turn 2 leaving him enough of a gap to get past, but on the next lap there was enough of a gap up the inside on turn 1 but my wheel caught his nerf rail and sent me sideways, leaving Aub with nowhere to go. As for the GN, got involved in a skirmish early on and was trying to fight back through the field...enjoying a great race with LeeK and Nezza til I got sideways coming oot of turn 4 which sent me towards the grass...tried to rejoin the track before turn 1 but totally screwed up my braking point and clattered into Nezza...thankfully it seemed to do more damage to my car than his as it was 100% my fault, and I'm glad he accepted the apology So should've been a more successful evening but that's Stock Car Racing...was another enjoyable meeting. Well done to Tom tho, simply uncatchable
  20. A very interesting read Johno, top work
  21. Cheers Johno - as I'm sure a few of you noted in my interview earlier this season, one thing I feel is missing from the game now compared to when I last raced is the "banter", so this is my way of trying to inject some of my enthusiasm back into the league, and give drivers some well deserved recognition for being involved in a great race. Fair enough I don't get to race as often as most of you so perhaps I do tend to find most meetings enjoyable, but at least my reports give another driver's insight into how they feel the meeting went and try to get the minority to realise that their attitude towards their racing can have either a positive or negative influence on how they enjoy it. RFactor is so much more realistic compared to DTRSC and Heat so requires a certain amount of racing respect in order to make a good meeting...I'm pleased to say that 99% of racing I've been involved in has been hard but fair...I don't go out looking to launch cars into every single corner cos I know I'll get it back and risk finishing last or not finishing the race at all! A perfect example of that was Thursday's Final...superb racing between myself, Matthew and Lars...I might've lost 5 places on the last bend but I was still laughing. The admin team put a lot of effort into the league with the UK-Dirter mag, meeting previews, the top notch programmes and of course the ever slick meetings themselves...the least I can do is make it known their efforts have all been worthwhile, and that they dont just have to read something when someone's having a moan. In the meantime, here's to the next meeting!
  22. Top job as always Kev, good call with the restart during the Heat 1 roller, no complaints here What a meeting! Chuffed as hell to pick up two race wins and qualify for the World Final, but at the same time I'm gutted I lost out on a top 5 place in the Final on the last bend...but that's Stock Car Racing! Heat 1 set the tone for the evening...managed to break away from the rest of the yellows with Lars and enjoyed some good racing with Harmen and Dode when they caught me...Dode slipped by on turns 3 & 4 but I managed to counter attack as we headed back into turn 1 and got back up the inside. Dode timed his return hit well on turn 3 and planted me straight into Johno's stricken car, but thankfully I had enough momentum to only lose another couple of positions. Heat 3 was another cracker...again a wee bit of sparring between the yellow graders but again I managed to break away and set off in pursuit of Jnr...slowly but surely reeled him in but it seemed like Jnr caught Big Al in the wrong place when he came up to lap him, and it made my job a bit easier...fair play to Jnr tho, he tried a hit on the next bend without playing silly buggers but the loss in momentum gave me enough of a gap for the last few laps. The only plan for the Semi was to keep oot of trouble and hope the Tennents Express could pick up a few positions during the expected bumper bonanza in the early laps...slotted in behind Wardy at the green and kept it tidy up the inside as a few cars drifted wide on the first bend. Picked up a couple of places but fair play to Wardy, he had his Semi gameplan and for aboot 2 or 3 laps each corner was greeted with a big thud from behind as Wardy made his presence felt...thankfully his aggressive style seemed to help me oot as I kept ricocheting off the cars in front and ended up in 11th, whilst Wardy eventually got a bit too sideways and lost a bit of time. A few laps later I saw a redtop off-track somewhere which promoted me up to 10th, and then had a good battle with Dave for 9th...big thumbs up to the 488 driver, I eased him wide to take the place and to his credit, Dave kept it clean for the next few laps until he lost a bit of time. In the second half of the race, I had caught up with the recovering FastTrack so tried to stay close in the hope he might catch a few cars ahead late in the race and open up the chance to pick up a place or two...I then got a bit of a shock to see TomD rejoin the track in front of me after an incident somewhere, and then had front row seats for his demise at the hands of DanSkin...was very lucky not to get collected by Tom's car as it thumped off the armco. After that it was a case of reeling off the last few laps for a place in the World Final! The Final was an awesome race but it almost got off to a disaster as one of my fellow yellow tops went all or nothing on the first bend and sent 3 of us sideways. I luckily got punted back in the right direction without picking up any damage, and was soon off in pursuit of Lars whilst Matthew set aboot reeling us both in. The second half of the race was immense as all 3 of us swapped bumpers...Matthew managed to nail us both wide enough to nip up the inside, but Lars tried the same trick on the next couple of laps with yours truly being the cueball! Then along thumped TomD on the penultimate lap, blasting me wide into the armco on turn 3...scrabbled for grip doon the home straight as we started the last lap and tried to stay within touching distance as I knew Tom would fancy his chances against Lars...all 3 of us went steaming into the last bend but Tom's hit on the previous lap had done some damage and I spun oot of 4th...by the time I found reverse I only just managed to stay in the top 10...gutted but laughing!!! Enjoyed a good battle with Matty and Dave in the early laps of the GN until Dave sent himself and Matty a bit too wide on turn 3, leaving me enough room to sneak through and avoid any action on the next bend. So back to where the return to the league all started back in March...how things have changed eh!!! Some brilliant (and controversial!) racing last night, bring on the World Final!!!
  23. Will catch up with you soon Spike, thanks for all your hard work as an admin and race manager. Come back part-time soon, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
  24. Farewill Ping King Put the "Team Funky Wing" F2 into storage for the moment All the best with the relocation, keep in touch between now and then as I'm sure if you ever need any info to help with the big move, there will always be someone just a PM away willing to help. Hope to see you at a UK oval next season - all the best!
  25. Superb work, good luck to everyone tonight (except Murf lol)
