  1. Ah, looks like I already had it! See you in there.
  2. I could be in - depending if I can catch up on all the downloads in time! Do I need V1.1 installed too?
  3. Well, my steering problems held out for the first heat and I managed to stay on the pace, finishing a very pleasing 5th place from white. It all went downhill from there though, as in all the following races as soon as I took the slightest hit from anyone, my wheel problems returned, and I was all over the place. I really need to get this sorted out, as it's making the game unplayable 90% of the time.
  4. Hi all. I'd love to take part in this, but I'm having problems with my wheel which is making playing RFactor very frustrating. For no apparent reason, the wheel will suddenly lose all 'feeling'. I'll be happily motoring around the track, then the wheel will suddenly become unusable. All sensitivity is gone, there is a massive 'deadspot' in the middle making it impossible to steer accurately. Sometimes it happens when I spin or take a hit, other times it simply seems to be like it from the start when I click 'race'. Occasionally, I can get the control back by vigorously turning the wheel from side to side - the wheel seems to readjust itself and the deadspot goes away. But that's not much good when I'm online and the race is already ruined for me, and in the case of last week, ruined other people's races too. I guess I can take part and just pull off if it happens, but that isn't a lot of fun. I mentioned it to Hutch last week, and he said several people had the problem... I find that hard to believe though, as everyone else looks fine to me!
  5. Sorry, I'm talking nonsense aren't I? Confusing this track with another. I can do regular 14.1/14.2 with a best of 13.999.
  6. Hi all. I've been trying to get to grips with the setups for rfactor, where time permits. Using the setup guide and various advice from a couple of people I've put together a sort of generic tar setup which I am using for Brum, but I know that I'm generally 0.5-1.0 off the pace from the rest of you. A lot of that's just me needing practice, but I'm not sure what to try in terms of setups to improve. Feel free to take my setup and have a play. I'd love to know... a) What time you can get out of it. I can do regular 15.1/15.2 with a best of 14.7 b) Is there anything obvious you would suggest that I could adjust that may help me? Thanks... replies or PMs very welcome. ps. I'm hoping this kind of post will benefit others as well as me! LSF.zip
  7. Do we have to reinstall if we took part in last weeks test meeting? And where do I find the .hat file? By the way, agree with the comments above, this is a truly superb track - great work, thanks!
  8. Thanks for all the help guys, all sorted now. Fun isn't it! Now all I need to do is learn to drive the thing, but I'm only a second off the pace (this morning I was three seconds off, so I'm heading in the right direction). One question... when you hit the barriers, and it says "Repair Body" does that affect your car's performance? Is there anything you can do about it?
  9. OK - if I look in my Windows folders, I can see the Cowley skin (and all the others) in \rFactor\GameData\Vehicles\F1Stockcar\Tarmac\Cowley Racing Team. But I can't find them in the game... where are they?!
  10. According to the bookings thread you should be using Chris Cowleys tarmac skin tonight Sorry - this is all completely new to me. I think I assumed that you choose the car once you are on the server... Anyway, as I said above, I don't have any skins/cars! Where do I get them?
  11. Hmm, probably the Smith car which I use for practice. What should I be in? I don't have any others, just the ones that came with F1 version 1.0.
  12. I just tried to connect, even though no one was in there. I briefly saw a message saying "You have been booted. Configured vehicle does not match...." and that was all I had time to read before I got chucked out! Am I missing something?
  13. _LSF_320 booking in. *** CAR TO BE USED; CHRIS COWLEY #37***
  14. Great! I can barely keep the car in a straight line on the tracks I've been practicing at... and tomorrow I'm going to take part in a test meeting at a completely new track with no setup. I apologise in advance for the chaos I cause
  15. Hi all. Sorry, I've had a good look round RFactorCentral, but I can't find any references to this track. Can't find any links in this forum either. I must be missing something obvious! Could someone point me in the right direction please?
  16. Thanks Fourwinds. I spend some time on MSN with both Hutch and MoR the other day, and whatever I do it simply will not load up. All the files are there, in the correct locations. I installed some other tracks (GRCRaceway, BelleVue, Brum) and they are all fine. There's something about Wedgeway that my game doesn't like! Shame, as it was the first time I've had a chance to join in a live meeting, and couldn't because of this. Probably a good thing really, I'm so bad at the moment
  17. Hi guys, I just downloaded and installed this. It's there under /GameData/Locations/Wedgeway - but when I start up the game I can't see it. Have I missed something? Cheers.
  18. But it looks bloody awful - can't I change it? Oh well thanks for the help. Haven't got time to worry about it so I'll stick with that!
  19. Ok, here's some screen shots, which show the strange red bar in the drivers cab. Any idea what this is? If no-one can work it out, I may post my TGA file here - and ask someone else to do the conversion and try it out.
  20. Marty, thanks for the offer, it's appreciated. However, I'm going to stick it out myself. I did quite a lot last night, and I've got the hang of things and it's looking ok (by my standards!). However, I have one problem. When I convert the file using MkTex, and try it out, there is a red bar in the drivers cab which looks totally out of place. It goes across the outside window - no idea what it's supposed to be. There is no red at all on my TGA template, so I'm not sure where it's coming from. Any ideas?
  21. Well, I could, but they don't know what I want, and I don't want to be lazy! Plus I like trying it myself...
  22. Hi all. I want to change my car in F2 to the Randall (02 version). It only comes with a TGA template rather than the usual photoshop layered type. I'm finding this very difficult to paint, and have no idea how to tidy up all the jagged edges etc. It's a long shot, but I'm wondering if anyone out there has a version of this which they've previously made for themselves, where the hard works already been done - something that would be easier to convert to my simple colour schemes. My painting skills are poor - I can just about master colour replacing and adding text/images - that's about it. It's a shame if I don't use the car I'm quickest in simply because I can't paint it!!! Thanks for any help.
  23. Hi all, I've been directed here from Stoxnet, where the subject of tracks came up. Fantastic to see the work being done on modelling Aldershot, great work by all concerned, so thanks for that. If I had known about this before it's possible I could have helped with the photos as my father must have loads, but it could take me ages to get hold of them and then scan them. Just one point - do you remember the old score board hut that used to stand amongst the bushes on the bank of the tight bend? It would be fantastic if you could include that in the scenery... I can remember as a child hiding behind it, and trying to work out if there was someone in there or not! It got removed at some point, and wasn't there for the last few years of the tracks life. Cheers!
  24. Haha, yeah I've learnt my lesson here! And thanks to you guys too, for responding constructively without the sarcasm that seems to be a common response to 'noobies'. It's really helpful. Regarding gears...I'm getting the impression that using auto will ultimately be slower than shifting manually. Now I've got the basics, I want to start doing this. But it seems there is a problem with the game recognising my pad setup. I use a Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad, which seems to be fairly common. It has two trigger type buttons at the back, which I assume would be the ideal buttons for shifting up and down. But for some reason, the game won't recognise the one on the right (my Button 8) when I try to set it up. So I'm stuffed. If I go into the software for the pad, the button is recognised, so I can only think it must be a fault with the Heat game itself. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has had this problem, or knows a way around it.
