  5. Well done Si If it were not for a yellow flag, there was a trophy with your name on it for sure. Tonight could be the night!!
  6. Thanks for the input chaps Decided to bite the bullet so to speak and bought the G25. £108 (a mate has paid for it so no VAT for me ) have seen a few second hand ones go for that and more so didnt think that was too bad. It will get a lot of use by my lad when i'm not around so i thought £1 an hour rental should cover the cost in no time plus he can sort out some set ups for me !! Cheers, Cabs!
  7. Stunning job mate I would imagine due to the shape of the car, it must be pretty tricky to get it to look right (all those curves) but what you have done certainly looks very smart
  8. Thanks for that Walker Is that a Sidewinder wheel? are the pedals variable for power and braking or just on/off type? Cheers!
  9. When you decide to get yours out for a play tonight, by any chance could you measure it for me ? Yep..... thats right i want to know how big yours is! My lad said i could play with his (so i did) but it was just way too small for me, so was wondering how much they actually vary? I'm looking for one thats possibly around 12 to 14 inches if they do really exist ? I've been looking at lots of pictures on the net but cant work out if they are big enough. Any help much appreciated! Cheers, Cabs! (Steering wheels for a pc i'm talking about by the way! but i'm sure you guessed that!! )

Yes mate exactly that. Lets be honest, how many people fill there road cars up with the dearest fuel available on the forecourt? I dont know what sort of time limit some of the higher octane pump fuels have before going 'off' but have read somewhere it is possible for these fuels to lose around 1 octane per week stood (until it gets down to a normal unleaded state) because some of the volotile hydrocarbons which give it its high octane rating evaporate quickly whilst in storage at the station. May be worth asking at the garage near to you how often the 'expensive' tank gets filled. Could be there a long time if no one buys that grade. These fuels are better when fresh without a doubt, as long as it is reasonably fresh.

A small point to note reguarding fuel.......... If the garage near to you does stock V-Power or BP Ultimate etc it may not be quite as good as you think! Its better to try and get this fuel from somewhere where that sells a lot of that grade so you know its resonably 'fresh' as it is delivered at 99ish octane and not sold as that fuel does go 'off' ......

Well done Kruiz 3.89 diff with a standard box (i guess thats what you have?) is within a rev or two the same as a 3.7 running in second gear on a tran-x box. The Tran-x gearbox has 3rd gear the same as a standard box. Looking at the video clip you are probably about 500 odd revs down on some of the others in the clip coming off the corners just by listening to the engine note. Best off luck Kruiz!
  16. Forgot about this ....... More news/results added from last year, couple of pics of the new car and end of last years points updated. Have a look around, Cheers! http://www.dale960.zoomshare.com/0.html
  17. Heres a start, but i'm guessing its too far away ...
  18. Could some post the template or point me in the right direction for the xj6s3 please, cant seem to find it?
  19. I like the bloke, always had time for a chat with me or my lad but rules are rules and thats that. Someone send him a link for 'UKDirt' now he has some time on his hands
  20. You are partly right in saying about the timing (more advance) but to enable to do this a better or higher octane fuel is required to stop the engine detonating itself to pieces. A race engine is dynoed and while on this the fueling and timing is sorted. The fueling is done normally through a sensor so its very accurate, too lean or too rich can kill and engine quicker than a bucket of sand down the carb lol. With the fueling sorted throughout the rev range the timing can then be done to give the engine its maximum horsepower, along with cam timing. There is no set figure as every engine is slightly different. As an example the 2lt Pinto is quite happy to sit at 32-34 degrees of advance but some are quite capable of a bit more. The last engine i used was happy to sit at 38 degrees of advance with no signs of detonation (pinking) on straight optimax fuel. The figure of 38 was were it gave the most power and this figure does vary from engine to engine, so saying that they can just advance it up more to give more power isnt strictly true unless you have a better fuel to avoid the detonation, or its not being run at the correct advance to start with. The cam timing is something that can be altered to move the power band up or down the rev range. If say a camshaft is listed to be between 3000rpm and 7500rpm set at 108 degrees on the crankshaft, it you set it at 104 degrees at the crankshaft with the same lift for number one inlet on the camshaft the it will make the camshaft 'work' earlier in it cycle and thus moving the camshaft power band to maybe 2700rpm to 7200rpm. What you dont want is an engine that is 'off cam' when you want to plant the go pedal to come off the corner because it has been set too high in the rev range.
