Glad someone else remembers the old score board at the far end at Aldershot. Nick is recreating the track with the aid of all the photos and bits and bobs we`ve all sent in. I did send him a photo with half the score board in the background but dont remember just when it went. Although it was mainly used for the greyhound racing it was pretty useful for following a race as it showed the first six places as well as Race and laps numbers. I think it disappeared around 1980`s so may not get included ? We all await the magic day when Aldershot Stadium is raced around again, thanks to Nick.

Good News Maybe ? Read on the Spedeworth Forum that they are in talks with the landowners who are now in charge of the whole site at Ringwood. Well thats it at the moment, but sounds promising, and that was from Deane Wood himself. Biffo

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Take a day off from the Aldershot project, start again Monday!

Nice one. How about the three bodies in the mortuary all with smiles on their faces. The first one was an alcoholic who`d polished off two bottles of whisky but died happy. Second was a woman who couldn`t stop eating and decided it was death by chocolate, but she died happy. Third was the little guy who`d got struck by lightning. How come he died smiling? Well he just thought he was having his photo taken .......

Well since you asked, mine was a 1960 Morris Mini Minor, as they called them then. Cost £60 , no MOT and got it home to find a 4 inch rust hole in the passenger floor, under the carpet. Kept it for about five years and had to replace almost everything. You dont forget you`re first one though, car I`m on about. Passed test at 17 thats about 1968/9 sold the car for £100 [attachmentid=9083] The trophy was some thing from the local car club, probably worse hair style! Biffo

Splinter What a bummer , as our American cousins would say, you give `em loads of information you would assume they are only too pleased to get and Whammo! some Nanna deletes it all..... Which in turn opens a whole new can of worms . If we, as paid up members do start advertising how good UKdirt is and start using pictures gleened from UKdirt, are they copywrighted, as these silly foreign Wikipeadia people are suggesting .......mmmmmm. No doubt someone knows the answer..? Now back to the "Echo Falls" White Zinfandel, Californian Rose, it`s very nice. Biffo

Its only noise for god sake, everyone has noise problems, for me during the Summer i hear Seaguls shouting their heads off outside on the roofs at 4am and 11 pm! I guess the idea of live and let live has gone these days , you`d think locals could put up with a couple of hours of cars running round a track given they`ve got silencers fitted and lets face it most races don`t last more than five minutes anyway! Of course there are certain folk who don`t help things by parking across peoples driveways and I`ve even heard of people parking on someone`s driveway. (Oops) Round hear at the week-end all you can hear in the garden are all the lawn mowers going plus screaming kids but they can`t ban them. Still I hear a rumour that East Dorset Council have now imposed a noise restriction on all the Seagulls in the Bournemouth area after 9 pm and to cut down on pollution they`re going to get them to fly upside down! :2:Biffo

I could still do with some more pictures to get a better idea of the trackside scenery, so if you have any or know a location on the net please let me know. Hi Nick Just cant get hold of any Aldershot Stadium pictures with the Gasometer tower I mentioned previously but its about the only thing of note on the North-Western side in the background, however I did find the present day site on Google Earth and it shows the Gasworks in relation to the old Stadium site. [attachmentid=8545] T= track and G= Grandstand site. Hope this is of some help. Regards Biffo

Having heard so much about rfactor yet knowing so little I`ve been reading up on all this Information on the forum. To me it looks great and would appear to be the way to go. If that means going out and getting a better computer I guess it must be worth it. And as for everyone working on it falling out, I think it just amazing that so many people can give up so much of there time to do this simply because they love the idea. People like me, who love the idea, but have difficulty switching the PC on sometimes, will reap the benefits you are all creating. Its time for a coffee and a group HUG ! You`ll get there. I shall look forward to it. Regards Biffo

Not another Raceway closing for Re-development ???? According to the Spedeworth`s web site ; "There will be no more racing at Matchams due to the landowners closure of the site". This follows a previous move of the Ringwood Speed Week End to Swaffham Raceway. So looks like I won`t be off there on Bank Holiday Monday for the 20x20 Banger Team Racing + Caravans DD . Will we ever see racing on the site again?????? Doom & Gloom from Biffo

Hey Nick Just found out there`s a place known as www.mhvideos.co.uk which is Martin Hunt Videos and he`s flogging off some Aldershot DVD`s and Videos such as ; "Aldershot van Banger Compilation" - Featuring 8 meets 1986 - 1992 "Aldershot A60`s Compilation" - quote; "1897 - 1990" - (Wow Victorian A60`s ??) s/b 1987 - 1990 "Goodbye Aldershot" - 3 hours of that fateful last meeting , November 1992. Well it`s on my must get hold of list, so I`ll see what I can find. Things are looking up Regards Biffo

I forgot to mention, Colin Farely, who was Fig.8 Champion at the time, became a victim of this nasty looking "follow in". However you`ll be glad to know he got away with just a cut hand. Regards Biffo

Hi Nick This is all I`ve got left, hope they`re of some help [attachmentid=7742] 1. At night under the floodlights. [attachmentid=7745] 2. Tree lined bottom bend [attachmentid=7746] 3.Veiw of clubhouse and rain shelters. [attachmentid=7747] 4. Bottom bend & spectator banking in background. Foreground sand covered dog track & hare rail. [attachmentid=7748] 5.Houses behind stadium are in Oxenden road/still there [attachmentid=7744] 6.Greyhound traps in background. [attachmentid=7743] 7.Fuzzy shot of the Grandstand, top bend. The floodlights, as you may have guessed, were swung around the other way when needed for the dog racing track and hang out fairly low from the safety fence at 45 degrees. Did see airbourne car take out a floodlight post here once! Best of luck Biffo

Well, Nick (Nick M48) said he was interested in modelling the track if he can get enough pictures. Maybe you should tell him of yours. I`ve got a few others but only out of programmes etc. Regards Biffo
