Hi i kno im being picky but its kind of off putting that in the wheels shown below there is a reflection of grass etc. so in eriks render of a concrete floor the reflection shows grass, is there any way of getting rid of this?

i've met another problem already!

i've sliced the side face on three planes and collapsed bits where there are many verts

however, when i try to move the slices outwards to add roundness, the triangular faces stick out. is this supposed to happen? at the back of the model you can see it looks particularly bad :banghead2:

any help much appreciated

that's sorted

now i'm trying to export it. i've downloaded the texporter file and put it in the plug-ins folder

Make sure that your model is the only model within your 3dmax scene as the .mod exporter exports everything including any hidden objects.

Open the 'File' menu and click on 'Export'

Browse to the unzipped file that you just downloaded and renamed

Change the 'Save as type' to 'MGI MOD Export(*.mod)'

Double click "Pacecar1.mod"

Click 'Yes' then 'OK' a couple of times to complete the export

Export another two times, this time double click 'Pacecar2.mod' and 'Pacecar3.mod'

i've tried doing this as nickM says, but when i export it, there is no .mod save option in the drop-down menu?

please help me

Pazza, you will need 3ds2mod, attatched at the end of this post. Go to (assuming you're using XP) Run, then type COMMAND or CMD. In the window this opens it should give a directory, eg. mine says C:\Documents and Settings\Andrew, put the file in the zip into that directory. Then, open the command thingy again and type "3DS2MOD 1.3DS 1.MOD" (Where the number 1 is shown, put the name of your file, and don't put in the quotation marks.) This will make a .mod file, which you then need to rename "Pacecar1.mod", then copy it and call the copy "Pacecar2.mod" etc

cheers eric. i'm running on XP. i've put the EXE file in the document & setting folder. I type in 3DS2MOD 1.3DS 318.MOD in the CMD and it says "Couldn't open 1.3DS" and "Error reading 1.3ds". I've put the 318.max file in the same folder (if this makes a difference) so why isn't it working? :banghead2:

thanks so far erik. its the closest i've got coz theres nothing on google!

still says the same error message?!

i can't see why it ain't working coz theres a 3ds and the exe file.

when i exported it, it asked if i wanted to preserve the texture co-ordinates. does this matter coz i said yes.

any ideas?

cheers

You need to type the name of your 3ds file, instead of 1.3ds. If you want to make that 318.3ds into a mod file, type "3DS2MOD 318.3DS 318.MOD". That should work, as at present, you're telling it you want 1.3ds converted to a .mod file, and 1.3ds doesn't exist.

Hope this helps
