Kev152 Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Some decent racing I thought, Archie Mason won the pro stock scottish open, from a grid drawn from the hat. Ali Cameron got a sore one, and had to be cut from car, hope he is ok, and things aint too bad - Get Well Soon. Saloons, were good too - Purdie was quick, and had some decent battles with Shevill...Some good bumper work between them. 2's...Moodie won again. McGill led a race for a few laps, before spinning out and dropping back a bit on a restart, - yer gettin there!
Guest Scrapman53 Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Crap I thought. And so did an English UKDirt visitor. All the guys on here that come up for the big meetings at Cowdie and think this place is second to none should come up for a normal meeting or 2, then get the Doral Video Havoc videos out and see what real stockcars is all about! lol. That'll be it for me for another appearance at the dump for a while, got some family parties etc to go to in the next few weeks. The only thing I'll miss is the UKDirt banter.
Allan268 Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 (edited) I thought last night was ok, was good watching purdie go at it. I think next Saturday will be a decent meeting. Edited May 3, 2005 by Korizin268

Sparky961 Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 I have some picy's from last nite. All in all I thought it was one of the best domestic meetings i've been to for a long long time. just curiously why did GMP move the scotland england challenge match to august /october when common sense would say move it to the saturday night when all the english are up. cheers sparky
Sparky961 Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Oh kev, do u want my pictures for the gallery on your site. I have a few from the banger world cup and a few from last nites meeting. I could zip them up and send them to you thru msn m8. They would need to be resized tho. cheers sparky

Personally I think the August weekend will attract a healthier grid of visitors as its the Scottish Championship on the Saturday and the Ben Fund on the Sunday. I've no doubt last nights meeting was "Crap" to our UKDirt visitor from south of the border, given the fact that the 2 prior meetings he attended was Brum and the Hednesford W/Q. I'd also imagine Racewall would have decent enough meetings "if" the same cars turned up there as turned up @ Brum and Hendo, but with us being located so far away it kinda looks like we'll have "crap" meetings more aften than not.(Didnt think it was all that bad myself, but pffft! what would I know)
Badura_Racing258 Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 It was poor quality... Gordon Moodie taking the FILTERED, for yet another week was brilliant though, and planting John Fortune a belter in the wall. How many final wins is that? I'm actually getting bored of seeing the 79 car winning. Funniest moment of the night was Shevil trying to take Purdie out (how many times...?) and Purdie just bouncing right back and carry on racing, was classic. Purdie was taking the FILTERED, and must have had a good laugh at the 'Scottish Champion', the race after the latters son went straight into the wall and scratched his new car. Gutted. Pro stox - pish. Was embaressing just watching them. Hope that lad is ok, and makes a full recovery

Straight to the point Scraps. I suppose you should have known what to expect really. The racing at Cowdenbeath has been like watching live stamp collecting for a while now with just the odd one off like last week. I don't think anyone in particular is to blame for this. My view is a combination of cars being too fast and too expensive, the fear of collecting heavy damage or injury, the threat of the HSE sniffing about if a serious accident happens and just the general layout of the track has taken much of the contact element out of the F2s and saloons. 79 being so far ahead of anyone else isn't helping the F2s at the moment but that's not his fault. It's up to the others to catch up. Saloon wise i think thing's will have to go 1300 sometime but until then at Cowdenbeath anyway i just have to accept that most meetings are going to be poor. The old days like in the havoc dvd's you mentioned were miles better but i suppose in reality things were never going to stay like that forever. Remember the last of those dvds is 10 years old now At the end of the day you either pay your money and go or stay away. Personally i'll keep going to have a beer and a blether with guys i don't see during the week. I'd spend a lot more than £9 in the pub for 4 hours. If the racing happens to be decent now and again...well that's a bonus.

Andymek Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Ali got out of the hospital last night, Is very sore but ok... 15505 Glad to hear that!!
Counter552 Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Pleased to hear Ali is OK, it looked a sore one I thought last night's meeting was a bit better than normal, every bit is good as some domestic meetings I've travelled a lot further to see I think both the F2s and the Saloons need slowing down a bit to re-capture the days of multi action per lap rather than meeting. I can't see how moving to slicks helps this, especially with the added problem of testing a selection after each race. Still think it's worth the £9, but sometimes wonder when my wife attends too and its nearly £20 !!! I'll compare next weekend with the F1 double header tomorrow (Bank Holiday traffic allowing), and £50 for entrance tickets alone.
