MoR137 Posted September 16, 2007 Report Posted September 16, 2007 Hi On a lighter note, here's a thread for some feedback from the meeting. Thanks to Drumbstick for running it, great job mate. I thoroughly enjoyed it tonight, it was my first proper test of the beta, and my first try under proper race conditions. The grades/rollers worked very well and seemed to reduce carnage id seen in the past from clutch starts closed grid! Obviously, there was a fair few crashes tonight but it was to be expected, but I think it lead to most having a good chuckle, I for one enjoyed the challenge, and this is coming from someone who lost out on two possible wins due to crashed cars! So thanks for a brilliant evening, and hopefully everyone else felt the same! Looking forward to the next one. MoR PS - for those interested, i'll knock up a skinpack for those without skins in a couple of weeks. Glad to see the demand is rising, which means that there's more people trying this out!
Paulp23 Posted September 16, 2007 Report Posted September 16, 2007 I really enjoyed this evenings racing , although there was a bit to much arguing going on , which is a shame as i look forward to these sunday night meetings , still some very good races and i think i got 2nd in the points which is a very good result for me being a pad user. all in all a nice little track , you can really give it some welly once the tyres warm up. i will watch the replays later they should give a few laughs.
big al 515 Posted September 16, 2007 Report Posted September 16, 2007 This was my first go on-line and I thought it was brilliant. The racing was really good. We were all making mistakes at times which is what you would expect, I got took out of leading my first ever heat by someone rejoining the track in a rather haphazard fashion but there was no way I was going to start f'ing and blinding at the guy so I was really mystified and disappointed to see others swearing at drivers who are trying to get to grips with the mod. The level of intolerance by a small few towards others was far worse than UK Dirt F1's and that is going some. Apart from the whining, it was a superb experience and I am looking forward to the next one already. Great track as well. Thanks for running it so well Drumbstick
drumbstick Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 I will post more on here tomorrow, but paul asked me to do the points from tonight, I can see why now Points were were scored from 16 - 1 in each race.
TheGreenGenie Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 Cheers for the meeting last night guys, That was my first shot at a proper meeting and i thoroughly enjoyed it. The meeting was well run and the racing was fast and entertaining. Its a shame that a meeting has to be tainted with arguments (It wouldnt be so much fun if we were all spawned from the loins of Wainman Junior), people need to remember that as with the 'Real Thing' it is Stockcar Racing and not Stockcar's That Race. The guys that should be applauded are the one's that make the effort week after week regardless of performance or result, these are the guys that truly love there sport. Anyway that sounds like total pish but It makes sense in my head lol. Keep up the good work guys TGG

Anyway that sounds like total pish but It makes sense in my head lol. Keep up the good work guys TGG I agree ... there are some of us that coming 'not last' is good enough at the moment ... I was scarily surprised where I came with the points by just 'finishing the races' where I could ... I tried as much as possible to keep out of the way of the big boys so that I did not get fenced and a broken car The racing is getting better and better and I liked having lots of cars on track spinning around ... made it feel like a real challenge getting around the track sometimes without hitting the spun cars. I do agree about the going into the corner at full speed and nailing someone is not 'sport' but should we not be using the system in UK dirt where people get warning / bans for unsportsman like conduct if it is deemed necessary after the meeting. After looking at some of my replays, some of the incidents that look like a drivers fault from 1 car when looked at from the overview camera can be seen either as simple driver messed up a corner and was correcting (accidental errors) or other factors at fault (being nudged by someone else for example) I for one like the racing we are having and if I end up with a broken car during the racing ... thats the way of the world .. at least I don't need to know about welding to be out for the next race Edited September 17, 2007 by Fourwinds
Paulp23 Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 The thing with these cars seems to be they have weight and hitting takes some practice to get right , i honestly belive when people get better we will see some fantastic racing for instance last night i got hooked on the rear bumpers of some of the newer guys while trying to lap them , now i'm not moaning! just an observation i could feel the weight of the car in front as it slowed my own car down , thats where we all need to learn ,this is so different to heat and people seem to be used to that , it will take a while but when people get in control of these cars they are nothing short of awesome imo
MoR137 Posted September 17, 2007 Author Report Posted September 17, 2007 Crikey, didn't think I did that well lol! Some excellent racing - topped off by the last bend of the GN! I had been chasing Hooty for the win for the final few laps, and with 1 to go i hit a dead car and spun out. I rejoined in around 7th place between PaulP and Ironmac. I spotted that we were on the last lap, so took a dive at Iron - I managed to connect with his nerf rail, putting him slightly up on two wheels and out towards the armco. The impact caused me to get a little slide going, and it would have worked, had I not at had PaulP up the inside, who consequently half spun me. As we sorted ourselves out, Ironmac was recovering, and we all took a race to the line, finishing Iron, Paul and then me i believe. Excellent stuff! Just a couple of screenies below, one of some good wheel to wheel action with HaaDee and one of that last bend just as me and Paul started to recover! Wish i could race next week - i've got the bug now

Paulp23 Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 (edited) i thought i might have been able to sneak up the inside of you guys but i got caught up really thats half the battle with these cars , sometimes you can dodge the crashes sometimes you can't , but thats what makes them exciting . you always have to think ahead with them , if you see a crash about to happen try to judge the best line to take to avoid it , i really love racing these they are great Edited September 17, 2007 by Paulp23
drumbstick Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 First off, sorry about the delay between qualifying and race 1 last night guys, with MM down and a few no shows I was having to juggle the grids about and decide who should start where but we got there in the end. Thought the racing was really good in general, I did see some over the top hits but really enjoyed last night and glad the track provided some good racing.
dangerous damo Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 Many thanks to those who ran the meeting. i thoroughly enjoyed it and without getting anyones back up i thought it was far better than heat. Was a shame about the swearing early on but thats hopefully sorted. I'm still getting the hang of r factor and setting the car up but i think i will get there in the end. Just need to finish my skin now....... cheers, damo.
