I had to jack the meeting in after the heats as the feel just wasn't right, I could not be precise as it was all too "swimmy" on screen and totally unlike offline - I don't know if I need to drop my graphics settings down further or if the cheap pc is just not upto it.

Racing rFactor F2's is a totally different experience, the graphics are perfect throughout races, probably like the rest of you are getting in F1's.

I will probably be a very occasional performer in F1's until I eventually upgrade the pc, unless dropping graphics as low as poss helps - but either way I will be racing the Tooz aplenty.

Just wondered Al if dropping the special effects down from full (display>special effects) may help. The dust kicked up on shale tracks certainly makes things much trickier, & I would imagine puts a strain on your PC's processor & graphics card chip in the same way as processing shadows does on mine in some games, eg far cry 2 etc. When racing online the processor obviously has to draw in all the other cars & the effects created by them & this may be reason you get that "swimmy" effect. Having plenty of RAM helps & is probably the most cost effective upgrade you can make, 4GB should make rFactor fly at average settings.

Single 2.8ghz processor, 2GB RAM, with a 7950gt graphics card, similar or better cards can be bought for about 30 quid these days on ebay, and I play it on full settings except for special effects, I even have shadows on low. I do get lag from time to time but it doesn't seem to help if I lower the settings or not, its just background processes that I just can't get rid of, that causes the lag for me I think.

Good meeting - Shame I could not get right on the pace due to my FFB feeling light and heavy at times. Maybe something to do with the track I think MoR was saying ? Apart from that I enjoyed the meeting. Roll on Ipswich

Thanks for the tip matty, will certainly experiment more with this as I did see dust being kicked up so I need to get rid of that for sure.

Ah well turning off the effects will improve your frame rates for sure mate, problem solved I'd say, it makes a huge difference.
