southy277 Posted July 29, 2011 Report Share Posted July 29, 2011 WD Tom and all the other semi qualifiers. A very tough meeting for me with the new wheel. I had been playing around with wheel setups using the real feel but my car setups just felt so much off the pace and hard to control. At 8pm i decided to have a fresh install of rfactor and by 8.30 i had everything sorted and the car felt slightly better. Seems abig jump from the 12 year old sidewinder to the G27. Missed my first heat as i missed installing one of the skinpacks due to rushing by the consolation i kinda had a setup and the car once at full speed felt better. In the final i got tangled with too many people and less track. Hopefully i will get alot more practice this week and hope i can score some points next week. See you there. Marco Posted July 29, 2011 Report Share Posted July 29, 2011 Had a great night, really enjoyed the racing. My goal was just to avoid the carnage a bit and then see how it goes, and it went really well for me winning my first heat after having to push hard to overtake Big Al. In my second heat I also managed to sneak into first position, but Dode and Daveyboy were catching up fast, and when the backmarkers came, I couldnt stay in first position. Then I had to wait for some time because I wasnt in the Semi and consi, so I kind of lost my pace in the final and got 13th after a good bit of battling with Southy. Couldnt be bothered with racing the GN because it was quite late already in the Netherlands, but I had a great night. Also been in the teamspeak server and it was great having a chat with the other guys, just hope some more people will join in next time, because its great fun! Propbably easier if I just apologise to everyone for being in the way frequently, but especially to Tom for the semi, and Hooty who I seemed to end up collecting every time something went wrong- nothing personal there Hooty! Congrats to waqar, who seems to have picked up the pace recently, glad you found whatever it is you were looking for mate! Comiserations to big al, we didnt want to be in the world final anyway! big al 515 Posted July 29, 2011 Report Share Posted July 29, 2011 This was a really enjoyable meeting, every race was good, and a nice atmosphere in chat too. The best came first for me with an absolutely cracking battle with Spikejnr in the W&Y's race, with us passing and repassing all the time for the second half of the race. Just about my favourite race of the season. 5th wasn't particularly impressive but sometimes the result is secondary. I had a good run in the lead in heat 1. Eventually Marco caught & passed me, then the rest of the pack were with me and I was clinging on for a top 10 - just managed it (10th). My 2nd heat was another good few laps leading but this time I was able to only get passed by a few cars and was well chuffed to get 4th. In the Semi, I knew I needed a massive slice of luck to qualify with more than 10 real top drivers in front of me. I hoped the 1st bend would be kind but it was the opposite - a big pile up in front of me with James spinning, and with me trying to sneak up the inside this instead put me slap bang into another tyre. By the time I had reversed and got going again, there was only James behind me . Oh well, like BenLymn says, we weren't bothered anyway, we would be an embarrassment in a WF. Then the Final which I auto qualified for which was a nice surprise. Had a pretty good race, but inevitably the pack caught me up and bashed me about a bit. With what I thought was a few laps left I dropped out of the top 10 without so much of a whimper as I waved Dode through, then was mad as hell to realise we had just gone into the last lap and I only realised as the chequered flag came out - at least I could have given Dode a bit more of a battle for 10th if I had known but I never dare look at the laps as it puts me off . Just the GN to come, and I finished on a high. Got away well and led a good number of laps (boy I love white ). Eventually Hooty and then Spike passed me, wasn't sure how many to go but was really pleased with I saw the chequered come out and I had held onto 3rd. Belle Vue seems to have produced some really great racing in its last couple of meetings. Top job by Dan and the others, the meeting kept moving nicely.
