Happy to have got up to 6th in the UK Open on lap 5, then came Ian............would've loved to have had a proper go at a top ten place but never mind thats racing!! Chuffed to have done well in the heats, held my own on occasions and scored 5 top tens. Could blue be suiting me now or will yellow still be calling me yet!! MoR137 Posted May 3, 2012 Report Share Posted May 3, 2012 Thanks for the meeting Dan, fantastic racing and a huge format done in record time! Came into the meeting pretty open minded, not really expecting to perform well enough to get the hattrick but hoping that I could at least put up some form of a title defence. The heats had some great racing, with the highlights being my first win of year (thanks to Spike's all-or-nothing last bender on Samwit) and managing to get Tom over the fence in heat 4 as revenge for one of his deadly hits putting me and Southy out of contention earlier in the race. I'm sure it'll be repaid... Was really chuffed getting front red for the UK Open and was hoping the seas would part first bend ala 2010, but it was quite a clean start which made for a hard race! After working through the pack, I slowly gained on Green and Harmen for most the race, but the pair were driving a very sensible race (much to my disappointment!) meaning I couldn't get close enough, although Harmen's last bend meant I closed to a tantalisingly close 0.5 seconds at the end. Disappointed not to get the win after being so close, but dead chuffed with the meeting as a whole and can definitely say I had a good shot at defending it! Well done to Harmen, UK Open Champion 2012. People can say what they like about him being undergraded and what not, but from where I was he drove a fantastic race, very patient and more importantly, striking on the last bend when it counted! southy277 Posted May 4, 2012 Report Share Posted May 4, 2012 Firstly WD to Harmen - Unlucky but brilliant effort from MoR - Unlucky mate! I was not expecting much from this meeting with it being tarmac and being red but still was disappointed at some of the driving standards. Hope this gets sorted by next week. big al 515 Posted May 5, 2012 Report Share Posted May 5, 2012 Enjoyed some great racing in all 5 heats, and they were run in super quick time too. As the B Final was non points scoring, decided to make sure Ricky didn't get away so went for a couple of way-back hits on him, which broke my car. Then turned it into Brisca Legends (from HEAT) style race. One or two others enjoyed this but I know some didn't, so apologies to anybody whose race I spoilt.
