Hope to see some more of you next week for Semi Final 2!

Was happy with my semi final result, my first ever WF! Although I was expecting a last bender from Drumbstick.

The final & GN for me seemed a waste of time. Once the reds & ss's catch up you just get hit hard from every angle & its impossible. It was like banger racing. Might just race the heats in future lol

Well done mate, no point risking it all in a semi-final we were both in

Had no luck during the heats. Got a big push soon as go was called in the semi so didn't get a chance to get inside! Managed 7th after the race settled down just gutted couldn't catch the lads infront but managed to sort someone out during the semi ;) surprised I got as many points but happy with that, cya all next week!

Enjoyed Thursday and my current spasmodic racing outing, which incidentally is more to do with Football being moved to Thursday nights in the summer than any mis conceived attempt to play the grade game! Hence will probably be Sept time when I can hopefully get behind the wheel on a Thursday again.. cya soon

Not sure how I feel about thursday night.

Was apprehensive about my graphics card packing up again, but as it was cooler than monday I felt it would be ok.

Was aiming for top ten finishes in all races, was ambitious for the Semi I know! but you have to aim high!

Made mistakes in my heats, and to those I took with me I apologise, but one heat I got away with and finished 7th dispite a last bend lunge from Harmen!!

The Semi was a good race and probably the best I could have done.

12th would have been a great result, but two quicker drivers snatched that away from me in the second half of the race - so 14th I'm happy with even though I started 15th!!

B-Final could've done better when out in front leading, but was swamped on last lap and took 4th. I will win a B Final one day!!!

GN again lost places in the closing laps which is disappointing. Apologies to Craig for ruining his race when well placed :banghead2:

Overall I enjoyed it, good to see other lower grders getting some decent results.

I had a nightmare in my first couple of races, thought I had got dealt with harshly by a car behind in each case, but both thought it was my fault for hitting the tyre

Things went better in my 3rd heat, with a thrilling couple of last laps with Jack and Lithgow. Coming off the last bend Jack had the edge coming off the fence, whilst me & Lith seemed to get our wheels in line together for a drag race to the line. I think his applying full bore made his car turn left across me a bit as we headed for the line and this just gave him the edge as we crossed it.

Couldn't give Mav too easy a time of it as he was passing me for the lead in the B Final as he will be a nightmare to listen to if he ever wins one

The GN was well exciting. I managed to lead for over 14 laps! Then Drumb caught me and on the last bend of lap 15, which he thought was the last lap, he pushed me wide and nipped underneath to pass. As we came down the next straight, I too made a mistake by thinking the next bend was the last corner (whereas it was the start of lap 16!), so thought I have got to have a go for glory. Watching the replay, Drumb swerved a bit, probably as he thought he had finished, just before I got to him, and unfortunately clipped the inner tyre, which meant we both slid to a halt on the bend. If he hadn't have done, there's just a chance and with a lot of luck that I might have nipped under him and maybe even won. (I can dream.) As it was, a few passed as I got going again, then I went into the REAL last bend with a car on my bumper. I feared the worst but only lost one more place, ending 6th. Still an ace result for me

A good way to end the night so I finished up happy.

I am sad to miss Birmingham, look forward to the week after.

Well done to all the Semi final qualifiers - sadly most of my favourites went out!

Well done on 4th in the Final Matty :appl:

First of all, thanks to Dan for running the meeting. I think he does an unbelievable job when you consider the amount of races he has to get through.

Congratulations to Grasser on taking the meeting final, and TomD on winning the all important World Championship Semi Final. Congratulations to all the others that qualified.

Well the meeting for me was a disaster. Although I had actually done a fair amount of practice before the meeting for a change, once we got into a race situation, the car didn't seem to be doing what I wanted it to do. The car was just far too loose all the way around and nothing I did appeared to change this. Despite this, once the pack strung themselves out, I was fine, but in a pack I found it hard.

Onto the Semi Final we went, and Tom just disappeared. I had a dive at him into turn 1 and very faintly clipped the tyre. He was away and gone, which is not my ideal as I personally think he is not the person you would want on the front row come a World Final at Skegness. So anyway, as always, the pack piles in corner after corner, and as mentioned above, I was forever fighting my car. I then half spun trying to take a different line and got spun by Spike. I then had a nightmare trying to get myself straight. When I got back in the race, I was 19th with a badly damaged car (well 3 corners anyway) but I battled on. I wish I hadn't, because I only finished 11th. Now I know Mav mentions it on a weekly basis, but it really is the worse place to finish in a semi final, and I have finished there for the second time in as many years!

As for the rest of the meeting, well I was very badly behaved by my standards. I never did anything wrong (in terms of follow ins or anything like that) but every corner I piled in no matter what the situation was, as this is how I felt the Semi Final had gone as well as some heats. I normally sit behind people and race fairly, especially when we are outside of the top 10, but I didn't last night in the last 2 races. If there is one thing that I do think drivers can improve on, it is racecraft when your in 13th / 14th position. Work together, let the faster driver go and get to the back of the top 10. Then do your battling from there, where at least your battling for points.

Anyway, when Thursday night concluded, I confirmed in my mind what I had said to a few people over the course of the season: I am not enjoying racing anymore. I must admit, this really annoys me that I ain't, because I do feel that this year has seen some of the best racing that rfactor F1 has ever seen. The racing has in the main been really fair, hits have generally been really sensible and it is superb to see numbers increase (and I am sure it is because of the improved driving). But I am not enjoying it at all. Now I could go down the lines of blaming work and lack of time, but the simple fact of the matter is, I am no longer a competitive driver. I used to be able to hold a red top place easily and at least be there or thereabouts come championship time, even picking up a couple of minor titles. But I can't do those things anymore. I don't have the time or the hear to get better so therefore I have decided to wind down my online racing.

So for this year, I will only race on tarmac for meetings that appeal to me (Lelystad - new venue, Yarmouth - something totally different and Skegness as I feel I should take up my place on the cons semi final grid because I have qualified). I may well do a couple more tarmac meetings, but at the end of the season, I will see how I feel towards racing, and see if I can get myself motivated enough to try to improve again! If not, I will knock it on the head altogether. I sometimes forget that whilst I have only been doing this since 2005, I will be knocking on the door of nearly 400 F1 meetings - that's a hell of a lot of time and I admire those people that have stuck it out for longer and done more meetings.

Not really sure why you all wanted to know that, but it saves saying it to different people at meetings when they ask why I haven't been racing. Anyway, now I have that off my chest, it is time to go out to the driving range and see if I can improve my golf!

Cheers

Sorry to read this Johno - i thought that the bumper work on Thursday was a bit harder than normal lol

I think that the standard of driving this year is much higher so that the bar as been raised for everyone. I find that if i get fustrated during a meeting i stop enjoying it & my racing standard drops.

Hopefully you will find the time and motivation by the end of the year.

Sorry to read that from jonho, but sometimes it can ba a slog at times each week i know how it feels , but at times you have to step back and let them alll carry on with it to have raced that long i ll take my hat of to you for racing for that long, hopefully you will at some point recharge your battery and give it ago again , at times its better to have a rest from it then come back to see if you still enjoy it , but any way you will be missed im sure but hopefully you can do the odd race at times all the best in what you do jakie 33#

Hopefully the winter break when it comes will see you recharge your batteries, Johno, and come steaming back into my back bumper next season. Compared to me, you are still a newbie pal
