Have a look on the ukdirt website under skinpainting guide for all the info but this is the important bit from there. Using a skin You should now have skin, whether you painted it yourself, or had someone do it for you. To use it in game you will need to add an entry for it in DRIVERS.TXT. This file exists in a few places in the NASCAR Heat directories, so make sure you are opening the one in the correct directory. In this file you will see a series of tables. After the last one, add the following: table Driver number XXX name Your Name chassis YYY rank 1 race_image 100 body_style ccar end Where XXX is you race number, and YYY is the model name of the chassis. (see below for chassis model names, check the screenshot-section if you want to see the chassis). Save the file and you will now see your name come up in the driver selection screen in the game. You do not need to add any more entries for other players. People will be able to see everyone elses cars by installing the skin packs. so you do the above in C:>ProgramFiles>HasbroInteractive>NASCARHeat>ukdirtf2 look for the file named drivers and open with notepad Hope this helps

Hi guys thanks for the additional info, I ended up putting the second drive in at 1.30 this morning, the 1st HD (C:) is set to CS, although everything seems to work fine and the 2nd drive is in and formatted managed to free up quite a few gigs already!! Cheers for the help, couldnt have done it with out ya lol

cheers g-man, will have a go tomorrow, just on thing, the drive in use now (C:) jumper setting is cs enabled, do i need to change this?

I was having this problem ages ago, I can't remember exactlly but I think you need to go to yahoo.com then groups (should bring up my groups) and i think there is an option there to cancel membership of the group, I am (reasonably!) sure you dont do it from within the group. Sorry to be vague but it was a long time ago!

Hi Guys, Wondered if any of the more technically minded of you might be able to offer some advice. I was recently given an e-machines tower unit that the motherboard had crapped out in. Being as it is a nicer case and had some better stuff on it I decided to rebuild my mobo etc into it (quite a challange to a technophobe like me when it comes to pc's ) and all went well (apart from one glitch but I will come to that later!) however....... The donor unit had a 120gb hard drive in it that there is nothing wrong with. I was wondering how difficult it would be to format it and install as a storage volume to keep pictures and skins etc in to free up the main HD. I am aware that I will need to plug in the flat lead thing (dont know proper name lol) using the slave plug, however I also think there is something next to it (i think it is called a jumper?!?) that needs to be put in the right place, I have attached a pic of the label of the HD along with the sockets as they are now. I think you have to set one to master and one to slave (?) but then someone said to me you can just leave both in cable select and will work the same? no idea hence why I am asking! Also how do i format the HD (currently has the old pc's OS on it) and do i need to install windows or can I just use it like a flash drive and drop stuff into and out of it? on to the other little problem, I used the floppy drive out of the donor unit as it matches the rest of the case, it has a usb and multi memory card reader in it that my old case didnt have, I located the same socket as was in the other Mobo and plugged it and all works fine. The problem is that when the PC boots up it comes up in the icon area as a remove stoage device and they show in the my computer drive list unless i use the 'safely remove hardware' wizard and turn them off, there was no name on the drive so i could look for drivers, could it be that i need to find them? or is there nothing I can do but put up with it?! Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to offer!

Thanks for the replies guys, not need to panic about skins just yet as need to get the money to counter first! Will be taking my time on them as haven't done any skins for a hell of a long time! Do have one more question though, I have gone all posh with the internet and got a wireless network thing for Kelly to have her laptop through and to save hassle was thinking of putting a wireless pci card in the PC, then I went to look on ebay etc and there are all sorts of different ones and diff 'speeds' so is there any techies reading this that could offer advice on which to go for or the minimum speed i would need to run uk dirt with ease? PC is running xp and the wireless is BT Home Hub. Cheers guys

Hi Guys been quite a long time since I posted on here although I have been scanning the forum from time to time..... Well I have finally started to get a bit more free time recently and got the internet back on, being a complete mug I have been thinking of coming back to ukdirt (oh no!) Well it has been about 2 years since I last downloaded anything so I am sure that most of the stuff on my versions is out of date, so I have a few questions: Will it be easier to just do a complete install on the whole lot or to download the updates etc? Have things changed much i.e. is the same banger car manager used etc? Finally does anyone know if anyone races in squad colours in bangers as will have to use them to wind lakey up! (if he hasn't got old and past it and stopped racing!) Hope to speak to some old friends soon, maybe make some new enemies as well!

Wondered if anyone might be able to offer some suggestions as to a way around this problem. I have been experimenting with my digital camera and taking some video clips. BUT: I am trying to use windows movie maker to combine the clips into one longer video, and this is where the problem is.... My camera records the clips in quicktime and WMM cannot recognise my clips (The camera is quite basic so i dont have the option to change the format they are recorded in). I have tried changing the properties of the clip to open in Windows Media Player but that didnt work. Any suggestions gratefully recieved.
