I went on one of these so called spooky events at the weekend, the guy who was running it has worked on Most Haunted and its all a set up with how they set the camera and Derek reads up on the place before hand so that he knows the names of people and stuff.

Sounds like your motherboard is running onboard graphics too, you need to disable the onboard graphics card

If you do mean windows messenger popups you can turn them off

Try looking in your power options mine used to be set to turn the monitor off after so long but it was annoying so I changed it.
