Congratulations to DanSkin #236, Kane_M #238, Montangoo #89, BenChambers #800, Jakeeey #691, fast track #527, LeeK #39 and pinken #43 for qualifying for the 2015 UKDirt F1 Shootout Series. They will contest the first round this week at Arena Essex. From the UKDirt F1 rules: 6 meetings in the latter part of the season count towards the Shootout Series. The top 8 drivers in the National Points Championship before the first round will contest the Shootout Series. All drivers start with zero points and scoring is as per normal meeting points. At Shootout Series meetings the Shootout drivers will all race from Superstar, and any superstar not in the series will race from Red. At Shootout Series meetings the Shootout drivers will be gridded for A-finals in reverse Shootout points order. At half way (after 3 rounds) the bottom 4 drivers will be dropped from the Shootout Series. The last round of the Shootout Series (the Shootout Finale) will be double-point scoring. The 2015 Shootout Series Champion is entitled to silver stripes until the 2016 Shootout Series.

UKDirt F1 2015 World Final Preview Kings Lynn (24/09/15) So folks, this Thursday it’s World Final time all over again! We’ve battled through twelve World Qualify rounds, two Semi Finals and a Consolation Semi Final to arrive at this point. And the only question left to answer now is – who will be crowned the UKDirt F1 2015 World Champion? For a reminder of last years action, (Thanks to Wardieee and Jakeeey for their excellent work!) This Saturday gone, in front of a packed Adrian Flux Arena Rob Speak #318 managed to claim his second BriSCA F1 World Championship with a repeat of his 2001 achievement at Hednesford. Road to Gold: Semi Final #1: 691 238 527 43 39 484 411 454 363 444 / 79 204 48 525 589 90 Semi Final #2: 236 89 246 380 112 800 167 180 297 221 / 249 233 599 237 442 Consolation Semi Final: 90 262 48 518 / 237 82 84 566 599 589 17 At Mildenhall on 29 August 2015 (the Saloon World Final meeting) the coin toss was made. Jakeeey #691 called heads, the coin came up heads and Jakeeey picked the inside pole position. World Final Grid: Reserves (in order): 237 82 84 566 599 589 17 79 204 525 249 233 442 653 229 474 47 93 71 588 109 283 244 296 385 394 241 146 182 189 55 515 443 142 356 291 62 155 510 275 103 Row 1 – Jakeeey #691 // DanSkin #236 The pole sitter Jakeeey #691 took his first major UKDirt F1 title at the British Championship this season and will look to build on that success this coming Thursday. Jake has had a good season picking up 10 race wins along the way and is already locked into the Shootout, sitting in a comfortable fifth position in the National Points chart. Last time out at Kings Lynn he was able to pick up a heat and a grand national win. On the outside of the front row will be the current European, Scottish and Grand National Champion DanSkin #236. Comfortably leading the National Points, Dan has amassed four final wins this year, including two at the Birmingham and Arena Essex qualifying rounds. A second place in last year’s World Final and a fifth from the pole at Kings Lynn in 2013 should leave him optimistic of his chances. Row 2 – Montangoo #89 // Kane_M #238 On the inside of row two we find Montangoo #89. Alex’s Kings Lynn form for 2015 remains a mystery as he is yet to grace the raceway, however he can take solace that his single final win this season came at the Sheffield qualifying round back in June. Additionally, despite having missed eleven meetings already this season his consistent scoring sees him securely locked into the Shootout in fourth place in the National Points. The current Champion of Champions Kane_M #238 starts to the outside of Alex. By his standards, he has had a very quiet year with just two race wins to his name! However, this has not stopped him amassing enough points to hold second position in the National Points. Kings Lynn form looks very good – he took second and third in the two meeting finals, and managed to top score back at the March meeting. Row 3 – Fast Track #527 // Stox #246 Fast Track #527 slips back one place from his starting position in the 2014 World Final, although I am sure there will be no complaints in netting a position on the inside line. Richard’s form this season looks good, with seven race wins to his name including the final at the tricky Scunthorpe track in June. He is currently one of three drivers contesting the final Shootout qualification position, just eleven points outside of the cut off so maybe picking up some points in the World Final will prove as important as anything. Stox #246 is the first of the Powell brothers on the grid this year lining up on the outside of row three, a few rows ahead of his previous season’s efforts. Sam is the current UK Open Champion and that win did him no harm – netting a decent haul of qualifying points in the process. His Kings Lynn form looks average, with consistent top ten finishes in almost every race. Most importantly he’ll look to build on his third place in the 2013 World Final, which was also held at the Norfolk Arena. Row 4 – Liam Powell #380 // Pinken #43 On the inside of row four we find Stox’s brother Liam Powell #380. Another driver in the midst of a quiet season he has just one race win to his name and best finish at Kings Lynn of fifth in his grand national at the May meeting. Back in 2013 Liam just missed out on the top ten, so undoubtedly this year he will be looking to improve. To the outside of row four we find our resident shale-shifting-specialist Pinken #43. Five of his seven race wins this year have come on the loose stuff, along with some consistent finishing at the two Kings Lynn meetings – including sixth and seventh places in the meeting finals. Matt is one of the drivers contesting the final Shootout qualification position, and with a deficit of one hundred points to make up, a good World Final result could be critical! Row 5 – LeeK #39 // Tom D #112 Back on row five (although a serious improvement over last season’s effort) we find UKDirt veteran LeeK #39. Lee has just two race wins to his name in 2015, however one of those came on the shale of the Norfolk Arena back in May. He is also the final driver of the trio contesting the last Shootout qualification position, and currently holds that coveted spot. Alongside Lee we find a complete stranger to UKDirt in 2015. It will be a welcome return to racing and only his second meeting of the season for TomD #112. He found his way to a semi final by virtue of final wins at both of the late season 2014 qualifying rounds. Tom is the defending World, National Points, Shootout, World of Shale and Tarmac Masters Champion – so it is fair to say he is no stranger to success and should be expected to progress rapidly towards the front of the pack. Row 6 – BenChambers #800 // Jack Ward #484 BenChambers #800 lines up on row 6 in what (I think?) is his first full season of F1s on UKDirt. Having settled in firmly at star/superstar grade Ben is another driver firmly locked into the Shootout and already has two heats and a final win to his name around the Norfolk Arena, as well as seven other race wins over the course of the season. Starting outside of Ben is the third most winningest driver in UKDirt F1 this season - Jack Ward #484. Jack has nineteen race wins to his name, including the final at the Ipswich qualifying round meeting. Kings Lynn form looks good with a whites and yellows race win, along with a grand national win at the March meeting. Row 7 – ReeceWinch #411 // CB #167 The third most winningest driver is followed on the grid by the second most winningest driver in ReeceWinch #411. With twenty-five race wins to his name including the Dutch Championship at Baarlo Reece is having a great season. He predominantly scores his points on the tarmac, although seems to have been making the effort in the last month or so to up his game on the loose stuff, perhaps in preparation for this very event. To the outside of row seven we find CB #167. Regular blue/star grade driver Callum comes into this meeting in good form having bolstered his race wins total to nine with a few heat wins at last Thursday’s Bradford (Tarmac) meeting. Row 8 – Wardieee #180 // Frans #454 UKDirt’s largely recovered amateur gymnast returns to the F1 World Final this year, one row ahead of his effort last season. Jamie’s raced just five meetings this year, but still managed to pick up three race wins and he put in a solid performance back at the March Kings Lynn meeting. On the outside of row eight we find Frans #454, who has the honour of being the first Dutchman on the grid this year! Frans has taken six race wins this year, half of which came at the Belle Vue semi final meeting suggesting a recent improvement in shale form that could be timed to perfection. A grand national win on the shale at Sexbierum got his season off to a flying start and was followed a fortnight later by a few second places at Kings Lynn. Row 9 – Walker #363 // HamsterJnr #297 The first Dutchman on the grid is followed by the lone Scotsman, in Walker #363. Ryan has picked up six race wins from just six meetings this year, including three from last week at Bradford (Tarmac) and the final of the Belle Vue semi final meeting. He’s an experienced rather on and off the short ovals so don’t expect pressure to affect him. Ryan is joined on row nine by HamsterJnr #297, and Josh has really moved on since this time last year when we were able to pinpoint his lack of final victories. With six race wins this season, including finals at Bradford (Tarmac) and Belle Vue we know that Josh is more than capable on any track. He hasn’t raced Kings Lynn this season, but I think it would be brave man to bet against him moving forwards through the pack. Row 10 – Spike #221 // Ritzoberst #444 Another UKDirt veteran, and regular racer Spike #221 lines up on row ten. Of Graham’s five wins so far this season three have come from recent shale meetings at Belle Vue, Coventry and Sheffield. His Kings Lynn form includes a top three in the grand national of the May meeting, and we all know he has the experience to use his bumper to make progress. Ritzoberst #444 has raced just over half of the meeting this season and will start to the outside of Spike. The majority of Martyn’s eight race wins this season have come on the shale, including the final of the Coventry qualifying round and a heat last time out at Kings Lynn. Row 11 – LiamB #90 // Harmen #262 Rows eleven and twelve are populated from the consolation semi final race, so first up is LiamB #90. Liam took the win in the consolation race having failed to qualifying through the Belle Vue semi final. He has just one other race win to his name this season, which came at his first outing of the season at Hednesford in July. The former (2014) European Champion missed out on both Kings Lynn meetings, but he is no stranger to success and can be expected to move forwards through the field. The second Dutchman on the grid is Harmen #262, and finding him starting all the way back on row eleven may be a surprise to many. Being unable to race his semi final, Harmen had to qualifying the hard way – from the second pack at back of the consolation semi final grid, although from early on in the race this never looked in doubt! Despite racing less than half of the meetings this season, and having only one race win to his name Harmen comfortably holds star grade through consistent point scoring performances. Row 12 – Tinman #48 // MartynR #518 Onto the last row of the grid, and we find the third Dutchman - Tinman #48. Robert lines up a little further back than last season, although in arguably one of the more desirable positions on the grid. He’s raced almost every meeting this year – picking up the Irish Championship at Nutts Corner, and a final win at the challenging Stoke track on his way to eleven race wins in total. His Kings Lynn form doesn’t look great, sneaking just a few top ten places over both meetings, but from here things can only get better! The final qualifier for the 2015 UKDirt F1 World Final is MartynR #518. Martyn has eight race wins this season, split evenly between tarmac and shale, and they include a recent final win at Buxton in August. His Kings Lynn form looks good, finishing all races at the first Kings Lynn meeting of the season bar the final inside the top six. As in 2014, only two drivers from the grid have ever won the World Championship before – DanSkin and Tom D, with both drivers having held the title on both the NASCAR Heat and rFactor formats. In addition only Stox, Kane_M and LeeK have ever featured on the podium before – so we again have a good chance to add some new names to the roll of honour! Good luck to everyone challenging for the 2015 UKDirt F1 World Championship. The World Final will be the first race of the night (a prompt 8.30PM start), and a normal meeting will follow.

Thanks for the kind words folks. I have to say that World Final ranks as one of the best races I've ever had on UKDirt. From a very fair early battle with Ben, Wardy and Tsjalle to being relentlessly pursued in the later stages by Wardieee my nerves were in tatters and I was exhausted by the finish. Really can't emphasize how much I enjoyed it. In the end, with the pace Jamie brought in the second half of the race it was something of a blessing that the battling early on had kept the pace down. Thanks Dave, F2 Admins and Stumpy for the meeting. And big thanks to Grasser for sorting the stream out as well. Really had little expectation of retaining the gold, chuffed to bits. Thanks to the back markers who moved, my apologies to those who I moved in a hurry...!
