  1. Bully should have been yellow after scoring 30 points on wednesday even a admin member agreed to this thus he went and changed to yellow only to find out he now only has 28 points because the rule breakers had been added into the results.

Sorry Aub but you refer to two things in your post that ive never heard of before? What do you mean should have been yellow after scoring 30 points? Are you saying that drivers get an instant upgrade if you score 30 points in a meeting? Also what are rule breakers and how are they added into the results? Forgive me if Im ignorant of these things, just havent a clue what you mean!

  2. MoR (137) successfully defended the UK Open Championship to become the first person to do so in this championship event. Congratulations must go to him on becoming a two time champion.

Yeah I second that.Well done MoR, excellent drive, congratulations.

A superb meeting I thought, well run given the number of new faces getting to grips with how it all works, lets hope the free taster did enough to keep them coming back.

  3. Well done Mav great stuff :appl:

Make sure you get booked in for Cov, the default setup is competitive there too.

I am still in shock now!!!

As I only had 40 mins practice and was spinning more often than not, I went to chat to tell Spike I was cancelling. He said I should at least do the W&Y race, which I agreed. Then I asked MOR what could I do to stop the car spinning when I accellerated - he said "Don't accellerate!!" - not much help there then! But he did say that the default setup was ok for here. Thats what I used for the W&Y, hence why I was so tentative going round. But I survived and felt that I could keep up with the yellows ok. My real concern was allowing the blues and reds through without screwing up theirs and my race.

    Ht1 - a spin but recovered for 9th, Ht3 - a solid enough race with traffic and a brilliant 6th.

Nervous about the final, got caught in traffic so backed off allowed them through and then set off after them. Had a good time trying to stay in front of Big Al, but by the flag I could only get to 11th - I hate 11th!!!

GN was so surreal!! No-one was catching, I was driving well until the last two laps when panic and nerves and sweat hit!! Fortunately I held on and crossed the line so proud of myself that I couldn't even get the doughnuts right!!!!

Thanks to Spike Jnr who drove a patient race with me, Thanks to Dazza for his words but for mostly not having a last bend lunge in the GN  but most of all to Spike for having belief in me to do it, after I had convinced myself that its not a track I can do. Appreciate all the congrats after the race too

First eight meetings last season I didn't score a point, so to score 20 in my first meeting this season - well I may just have to retire at that!!!!

We both hope to have a go at Coventry, but again its a track I haven't been able to do in the past, but now - Who Knows!!

  4. Trying to get into server with no luck. Ive downloaded updated Buxton & installed, having removed old buxton, HAT.file etc.etc. & get this message once track has loaded:

Cannot find the current track (or rFm mismatch

    Buxton.SCN

    Connection Lost

then server boots me back to spinner.

Any ideas anyone before thursday please? Incidentally, will we be using the Buxton FOG version of the track this week?

    Thanks

    Sorted, see other post

  5. Ok after much hair pulling & gnashing of teeth I think ive discovered the problem here! Use the track download link on the official website Buxton update & NOT the one on the forum post as that download is the wrong update. Remove all traces of old buxton from your locations folder & the buxton HAT. file from HAT folder in user data>LOG>HAT & install the update.Should work fine & let you in the .48 server. :banghead2:

  7. Heres what cured same problem for me lads. When extracting the winzipped Buxton update I placed it in a new folder entitled Buxton (in rFactor> Gamedata>locations). If you double click on the folder then you should find that there is another folder WITHIN that folder also entitled Buxton. This, I think, is where problem lies. What I did was bring up the folder a layer if you will, so that there is only one folder entitled buxton. Right click on the second buxton folder, select cut, move back a folder, & click paste. The game can load the track fine after this without error.Hope this helps

  8. i like big Al, the big guy can take the jokes.

Great to see that the meeting produced plenty of positives, particularly for the new guys, long may it continue. As for the legend that is Big Al, well what's left to say that hasn't already been said?

A great example for the right way to go about racing in this mod, lets keep things going in the right direction.

  9. 1) some of us go into practice from just before 7pm on race nights when the meeting starts at 8.30 to get plenty of practice at the track and to get used to the car, as i said thats how some of us are better than others

Just to clarify as Im confused re.the points made on practice by mav & dode. Is it any different practicing in the server to practicing offline? I never really practice online before a meeting , I just check I can get in the server as I got my fingers burned once by not having the correct skinpacks installed & ended up missing 2 heats! Can't you equally get used to the car offline in the week preceding a meeting? Or is tyre wear set differently in server? Or do you mean battling against real drivers rather than the Mod's AI? cheers

  10. So please think before shooting admin down about the role we have to play

Nobody I can see on this thread are "shooting admin down" Budge, there are some positive and constructive thoughts about developing & improving the F1 mod. Lets not lose sight of the basic facts which prompted my initial post .Its straightforward. 14 drivers turned up to race last week at Skegness. If thats enough for most registered F1 drivers & for admin then fine no problem. If other drivers would prefer an alternative to quick turnaround meetings, with no practice, no banter & no set-up exchange, & would like mixed formula meetings & an alternative to the all -in format, then fine again here, ill still turn up as I love the mod & love competing. I fully appreciate the admin role is difficult & the actual f1 meetings themselves are well run, as evidenced by the quick turnaround, but lets have a healthy, respectful discussion about this & let everyone have their say without resorting to bitching & flaming others & their views. I was making the point that Counter552 aside no-one from 1st tier admin had made any contribution to my post, & given that they make the decisions on how it is run one can only speculate on the mods future.

  11. An option would be to remove the joining fee and allow registered members access to practice sessions for 2 weeks before they pay anything. There would need to be practice sessions for this to work.

All General Admin and 2nd Tier Admin would have to be happy to take on the extra hassle associated with this but it would probably help with new members.

Id be interested to know the views of the admin team members on these proposals as considering the original post was put up almost a week ago the official response has been underwhelming. Can an official response on the proposed "taster" sessions or "open weekends" be expected or are admin happy with the current number of 15 die-hards who turn up week in & week out to continue?. I feel that admin have a role to play in fostering a community feel & in promoting the mod's future, & whilst I dont totally agree with Mav's comments on elitism there is clearly work to be done in welcoming new people who want to try the mod out. Without an official response we are left to speculate on what those who run the mod really want & that can often be totally wide of the mark.C'mon admin, people are offering their time & expertise with set-ups here, do you want the help or not??

  12. 3.) More open meetings, look how many drivers raced the F2 open meeting(Quite a few then joined), and that was not publicised anywhere near as well as it could of been. Again this is a try before you buy.

Of all the suggestions I feel that this seems the most workable, and with the right sort of promotion could well introduce some new blood to the F1 mod. As Southy points out, 2 people are waiting in the wings however want to test the mod out first without committing money. An open session with admin & regulars alike on hand to use chat to offer setup advice & technical help could pay dividends. Over to you admin :042:

  13. Just occured to me when looking at the number of views of each meeting's results on the forum that upwards of 200 people view them, yet 16 people turn up to compete most F1 meetings...

Begs the question who are these people & why aren't they competing if the results are of interest to them? Are the current "hardcore", i.e. those that turn up week in week out, happy to keep it to 16(ish) cars at each meeting, or would they like to see more cars on the grid? And if yes then how do we get them turning up? Any thoughts welcome

  14. "The first few laps Matty and me were passing and re-passing which was great fun, but I realized that there seemed to be problems further down the field as we were nearly lapping cars already"

Think it was fortunate we got away from the pack Al which gave us some breathing space in the final, the faster guys were duelling it out allowing us yellows to get on with it! The pictures i've posted show we were well away early on in the Final.True Belle Vue has been kind to me & the racing it provides is usually good, nice to see Liam in the Yarrow chassis too, a smart looking skin.
