Hi guys, I'll leave the verdicts on the physics for the regulars...however I just want to find out if the wee wing upgrade is still a work in progress? Wrighty posted a few screenies of the Kitson and Bingley style of wee wings and wondered if these will appear on an upcoming update or if their introduction is of a low priority? Thanks for the new update, looking forward to joining a meeting sometime

Have now worked oot part of my problem in respect to setting up my super cheap wheel...it only has 180degrees of rotation However, I still have a few sensitivity recommendations to try oot so will see if I can dial out some of the twitchiness, shame nowt can be done aboot the driver Does my ageing mind deceive me or didn't there used to be a guide back in the Heat days detailing how you could tweak your PC into getting a little bit extra performance from the processor and your GFX card? I seem to recall a few things you could do through the control panel to set what RAM was used and how it was set etc etc...anyone else aware of the existance of such a guide? -
Thanks for running yet another very slick meeting Spike and well done on your well deserved success in a very destructive Final Enjoyed the racing as ever...just a shame that there's always one that has to spoil things for everyone and show a total disregard for the effort that Spike makes to run this league. I'm sure it's with great reluctance that Spike has to consider even handing out a ban for the appalling behaviour that we all witnessed last night...yes Trav, you were a total disgrace spending the entire meeting on the phone Cya'll next time!

Thanks for the PM response from another wheel user who is adjusting Digital Sensitivity...will give that a try and see if it makes any difference FYI the GFX card is a Radeon 9550, not a 5550 as I incorrectly stated in my reply I now know I've got the correct DX9 installed so I tried tweaking the shader settings in the rFactor config application to "Performance (DX7)" last night but it seemed to make the graphics even more juddery! Adjusting the resolution or detail levels had little effect, the only thing that seemed to have a major effect was reducing the amount of visible cars...anything more than 10 on a 20 car AI race saw the frame rate plummet to almost single figures. Decent performance seemed to be given around the 20fps mark...this is using "Auto" on the shader level in the rFactor config application. I've noticed in a couple of reviews that some gamers were "overclocking" the card as it seemed to have the capability...it's a term I'm no familiar with, any experts have more info or tweaking advice? Doing a search for any updated drivers is on my to-do-list but I'm always wary of doing this as the last time I installed a new driver for a GFX card, it totally knackered the desktop settings and I ended up having to do a restore. Thanking you again! -
Ignore the server request as I see NZ Heat is running this evening...thanks to you know who for the PM response ref wheel settings, any additional help is greatly appreciated

Would one of admin be able to set-up a server for some night-time practice around Scunthorpe tomorrow evening? I'll no be able to compete in the opening meeting but would like to conduct some graphical tests if a few more are able to join in at some point after 7pm? My offline tests against the AI tonight were inconclusive! Also, if anyone is able to spare a moment or two, I am looking for help on a few issues detailed by clicking here. Much appreciated!

Bumpety bump...anyone know the answer to the original query? Gave the power steering update a try very briefly last night but couldn't tell if it made any difference as I'm still rotten Stupid question number two relates to wheel calibration settings...should I be adjusting the values in the "Rates" tab or the "Controller 1" tab in the Controls screen, or even both? So far, I've only been adjusting the sensitivity in the "Controller 1" tab but whilst searching through the Forum last week, I noticed a screenshot where a wheel user was adjusting the Digital Sensitivity? I admit I'll never get my pedals performing to their optimum as the calibration software won't let me adjust the axis thresholds, only the maximum range (compared to the steering axis, the pedals only operate on half an axis range so the throttle is awfy sharp, even with the sensitivity turned low in the game). However, could I be cheeky and ask for some wheel users to recommend a base steering lock and axis sensitivity for the game, by PM if you prefer? I've read on various threads and in practice servers of wheel users running anything from 20degree to 41degree steering lock on tar tracks...my cheap wheel has 4 different sensitivity ranges I can select by cycling through the mode button as well as the available adjustment through the game itself, so I'm just looking to try and pinpoint a base setting that I can work from. For reference, the wheel is Logitech's finest Formula Vibration Feedback...cheap, nasty and actually an Xbox wheel so doesn't run through Logitech's gaming software. Just call me a budget racer Stupid question number three relates to graphics...as most of you who raced on Thursday are aware, I'm struggling with night races a wee bit...the game runs braw on near full graphics in daytime but stutters like Roger Daltry singing "My Generation" as soon as the sun goes down. Even with every setting turned down to low and only having 5 cars visible, it was still a bit rough in the latter races. I have done a DirectX update to make sure it is up-to-date as I have an issue with the Saloon mod (lacking the bonnet in TV cockpit view, still to check it's been rectified) and am going to try running a lower resolution...however are there any advised settings in the rFactor config screen to perhaps improve GFX performance? I have just been running the default settings since I installed the game except for changing the resolution to match my desktop settings (1280x768) but notice there's options for Quality, Balance and Performance amongst others. FYI the GFX card is a Radeon 5550 384mb if memory serves me correct...obviously not top of the range but it handles GT Legends a helluva lot better than my old PC, so I thought it was no bad Any help anyone is willing to offer is greatly appreciated - thanks in advance! -

Thanks for running the meeting and the series Mike and the rest of Admin...and a big well done to Sir Thomas of Drabble, JK and of course Mike for their successes last night, and also to UKSOM for another great track. Thanks also to everyone for their understanding when I requested a restart before the Final for the graphics adjustments...I remembered to ask pre-meeting last week aboot night races but forgot to check again this week, and of course I still had the GFX on full after taking screenshots of my F1 skins on Wednesday night...I did appreciate the restart being agreed However, I enjoyed the racing once again and the new wheel settings were a definate improvement on last week...had a great battle with Walker and a few others during Heat 1 til some bloke called Spike got jealous and spun me oot...and likewise another great battle with Harmen and Fast Track at the start of Heat 3. The kerbs made things very lively during the Final and GN...sorry again to Murf but I dunno what happened, one minute I was part of a group of cars charging doon the back straight and the next thing I know I'm swiped into the wall and sent skywards. I've got to admit tho, the resulting head-on was defo a lot more damaging than your poor effort after the chequer I tried to keep oot of the way when getting lapped in the Final but seemed to become a cue-ball on a couple of occasions...hence after being spun at the start of the GN and Shootout races, I thought better of it and parked up rather than risk making anymore enemies I know there were a couple of grumbles directed at me last night but I've said it before, I took part in the series to get some experience of the mod and the racing. The main difference I've noticed so far is in the practice servers...Heat was great because there were no practice sessions, only random grid races whereas with rFactor you have to rely on there being enough cars during a practice session to justify trying to slow down and join a battle, but even then the other drivers might be more interested in tweaking setups rather than racing. I cannae help it if I spin oot a few times, I'm still an rFactor Rookie learning how to keep out of the way in such an emergency. Some of you might have a low tolerance on Rookies, I have a low tolerance on moaning...I know I suck but am dealing with it, it's never always possible to avoid a spun car (ask Murf) but it's part of Stock Car Racing...it's full of the unexpected, tis why we love it! Cya'll part-time during the season!

Mornin' all, Whilst trying to finish off my rFactor F1 skins last night, I came across an option in the vehicle upgrades section I had never noticed before. Does the "Power Steering/FFB" and "Shale brake bias" upgrades relate only to FFB wheels or does it also influence the steering performance of non-FFB wheels? I've done a search through the Forum and can find no mention of these two upgrades in previous help threads but have found a few more helpful threads on steering wheel configurations...might get a chance to try some more wheel settings at the weekend so would like to know if I'm also barking up the right tree with the additional upgrade options. Thanks again!

Try pressing the number 5 above the letters of your keyboard (don't press 5 on the number keypad on the right) - I'm sure the numbers 4, 5, and 6 relate to the on screen graphics that appear at the bottom of your screen. If in doubt, go into your "Controls" menu in the game and scroll down through all the different commands and it should list it there

Efternoon all, Since NZ Heat has been shunted to Monday, do I take it the servers are free for one of them to be set-up for some Arena Essex practice tonight? I'll no be able to join in the fun tomorrow evening but have got a couple of different wheel set-ups to give a whirl if anyone else would like to congregate later this evening?

Thanks for the meeting Mike and to admin for arranging the series. Despite a nil score I rather enjoyed the racing tonight...managed to keep all 4 wheels on the car and finished every race so a great success as far as I'm concerned. Enjoyed some good battles with the likes of Dazza and Walker before the weight of traffic got the better of me...good clean racing throughout tho, here's hoping I get the steering wheel dialled in a bit better for some more frolicking in the main season. Pat on the back for everyone tonight me thinks!

Here is my current desktop...the pic was one of those once in a lifetime scenes and was taken at Kinlochard when the perfectly still water acted like a mirror...oh aye, and it was the day after I got engaged...if Pauline ever asks, that was a once in a lifetime moment too lol!!!

Here are a few pics showing how I've made my comeback to the online racing leagues and which will hopefully bust the myth that all Aberdonians are tight fisted...first pic features the brilliant MC John Macdonald on the 42" telly into which the PC (to the left of the TV unit) is also plugged...second pic is of the trusty Sidewinder control pad I bought from Jimbob aboot 8 years ago...at some point during a Heat meeting aboot 7 years ago a wire burnt oot hence the repair shown in the third pic but despite over 6 years of retirement, it still worked fine until last week when it finally packed in...hence I've grudgingly(!) invested in an adapter meaning my neglected old Xbox steering wheel has been dusted doon for some proper action lol. And yes I know what you're thinking...I'm happy enough to fork oot for a big telly but I draw the line at buying new a PC controller or even a desk for the wheel!!!

Cancel my booking please, the roads are clear at the mo so gonna make a break for it...this cancellation has nothing to do with running scared from Hooty

Thanks for the late booking Spike and thanks to y'all for being gentle with the noobie who didn't know where to line up (cheers Tom!)...will be better prepared for next time, eventually managed to get the game settings more to the PC's liking...anytime the screen shuddered efter that it was normally cos of Hooty or Spike!!! Cheers lads, hopefully cya'll soon.
