  1. Being a bit of a speedway fan myself, I was at Peterborough for the final cheering on Reading. The place went absolutely nuts when Peterborough got that final 5-1 to win by just the single point. Although my team lost, I was glad I was there to witness a great meeting. I wish I'd been around in the days of the autospeedway meetings. I know it didn't take off but imagine what it could have been like. Profesional drivers each racing for a team. Travelling all round the uk and continent to race. And absolutely masive crowds watching. Funny how speedway bikes don't really cost much more than stockcars and yet the riders are profesional and we pay out huge sum's in pursuit of our hobby. Gonz
  2. Signed. Real shame, I won the first ever race round that track and it holds many fond memories for myself and my team. The effort put in by all to get that place built after loosing the original Roosecote was unbelievable and that alone deserves that the council think again!!!!! Gonz
  3. Sorry to hijack this thread guys, but just spotted this photo and there I am stood in the background. Ahh the memories. Gonzo This one. Haven't a clue why the saloons were facing the wrong way though.

  5. Fantastic new site Kevin and all, keep up the good work. Just one point of constructive criticism, when veiwing the gallery page, due to the large banner photo, you have to scroll up and down in order to see all of the subject photo, which is a little frustrating. Gonz
  6. Yeah but with one of them being at Newport Pagnell, that's rather handy for Northampton!
  7. It was a name given to me by banger driver Geoff Priestly in my spectating days at Aldershot, because I used to wear a hat similar to one worn by Dr Who, Tom Baker, I think it was. That along with my permed hair Oh well, there goes all my ceditbility.
  8. What was that "muppet" in the 441 car up to, letting the 56 car roll him over????????? Say hello to ya Dad for us, Gonz
  9. Might be something to do with Michael coventry's incredible enthusiasm for the racing. He's always there to meet and greet the drivers and have a chat and that goes a long way for me. Makes you feel appreciated.
  10. Guess you haven't heard that they have bought the Taunton track to secure it's future then?!?!? Yeah I blame Splodge too for taking photos of cheap immitation Saloon stox Seriously though, if ever there was a promoter that puts the drivers first, then it's Deane. Spedeworth was a crap promotion when I raced for them 12 years ago but from what I've seen Deane's doing a good job with Spedeworth south. I'm sure him pulling out of Ringwood was unavoidable.
  11. Why have they covered Cowdenbeath with shale then????????? Seriously though, with the wife 8 1/2 months pregnant, I haven't even considered it. Just having a quiet year this year playing on the brown stuff. Gonz
  12. Anyone know the saloon results from the world masters in Ireland, and who, if any, travelled over? Cheers Gonzo
  13. Yeah, I already unzipped them and got three files, a GRD file, an SIG and a TRI file. The only file that opens up is the GRD file which wants to run in photoshop. Any other thoughts? Thanks for the info on Ian. Got friendly with him at the British this year so was a bit concerned. Any rumours/gossip in the pits as to the possible introduction of new rules next year? Cheers, Gonz
  14. Hi Guys I need some help with these video downloads. They always want to open up in Adobe Photo Shop and when I try opening them in a media player, they are unsuported. Any ideas?????? I know, I know, if I'd been there I wouldn't need to look at the vids to see what went on. Was Ian Govier ok? Cheers, Gonz
  15. Can't believe it, we were there with the saloon today, his was one of the cars that stood out in the pits with Beech down the side (don't follow bangers that much). It obviously happened in the last race/dd as all was fine when we left. Absolutely gutted Sincere condolances to all his family and friends from the AMPM team. RIP Phil M
  16. That is one sad photo which looks as if it was taken after the track shut. It might have been a dump, but it was where it all started for me, and there still isn't a track which comes anywhere close. Off to watch my "Good bye To Aldershot" Video now (the last ever meeting)! Gonzo
  17. Track 4 Pedz, Swindon
  18. Scottish saloons there were Alexander, two Shevills, Purdy, Scotty Devine, Rob Copeland (Saturday only) Dunno about F2's. Was good racing in the Saloons all weekend. The tricky conditions on Sat night played their part. Gonz.
  19. Awesome sign job Timmy and great looking car Soapsy.
  20. Cheers lads. Munster, A full album of the build can be found here http://members3.clubphoto.com/phil227581/2835944/guest.phtml Maybe see you then Mag Should be up in August Andy if it goes ok. Need to visit Tully's anyway.
  21. Hi Pedz, Yeah its basically like a Tully, but with some modifications of my own. Yeh been a long time in the planning stage, along with the garage m8, which I'm happy to say is now well completed. Next job is to tidy up the old one! I wonder how long that will take Gonz
  22. A new car for me is quite a rare thing, with the old one being 4 years old. Should be out at Arena on Sunday with it. [attachmentid=1837] Gonzo
  23. Sorry to say Mags that this is just typical Spedeworth. They seem to think that they own you and your car. Always been like that. That's why I live on their doorstep, yet race elsewhere (nearest regular track being 2.5 hours away). I think you'll find they had a falling out last year with the other 1300 promoter that raced compatible cars, ie Ringwood, and now don't allow any cross promotional racing, which is why there was at least two world finals last year. I bet they won't even allow you race the same car if you bought another licence with lets say Arena!? I did think though that things like this might change now that Deane Wood has a big say in what goes on at the big S! After all, I remember him sneaking down to Ringwood many a time for a play with the locals when he was a racer in the saloons. Gonzo.
  24. So will that be the one hard wired in the tar car, or the shale car? Ooops, let the cat out the bag now lol Just hope you can swap it over cos I don't mind buying 1 but not 2. Just a thought, if you sell a car (ie if your giving up racing) can you sell it with the transponder? Gonz
  25. Quality Avon My ideas for Saloons: Increase the minimum weight limit by, oh lets say 200kgs, Make it compulsory to change pistons every other meeting. Make all championship races 5 laps less. Your designs for a new track are fine Andy but I'd include 2 poster car lifts in all the pit spaces, along with built in generators and welders etc etc. Seriously though, cant believe standard engines and boxes are as quick as what's being used now. Probably Cowdenbeath is the only place that this would be true due to the lack of accelerating. Will be interesting to see the reaction down here to the introduction of transponders when everyone realises that their licence fee is gonna be close to £300. Hope you aint gotta buy a new one up there? Happy new year all Gonzo
