All, Thanks to those who tried to help last night but I cant keep up with things and suggestions running through the chat screen. In short I went online Monday evening - checked email etc etc. No connection problems. Logged out of everything and then checked server details for Monday nights racing. After this ran end it all and adware to ensure no hidden doodahs running. Went into Mirc chat to find out about praccy. Got told server for Hendo praccy. Loaded game and tried to join server. 8/24 racing ping at lowest 27 and highest 56 but every time i tried to connect got Ping too high message. Had a little dabble in single player mode and noticed I had no sound! Now before stating the obvious yes I have checked all the speaker canles etc. I also did a full reboot etc on the PC. Thought perhaps it was the game so went into media player. No media files found message on screen. Been into my music file - all files there. So in short 1. What has happened to my sound and 2. If the files are in my music why do they not appear in media player. One other thing when I did get into the server to practice my hard drive was getting thrashed like a loony. I wasn't warping but my screen was really jerky for me to watch. Any help or advice appreciated! Again! If you need more details to help just let me know! Thanks Watto

Subject: Irish Maths Test An Irishman applied for a job on a construction site, but the foreman wouldn't hire him until he passed a simple maths test. Here is your first question, the foreman said. "Without using numbers, represent the number 9." "Without numbers?" The Irishman says, "Dat is easy," and proceeded to draw three trees. [attachmentid=23817] "What's this?" the boss asked. "Ave you got no brain? Tree and tree and tree make nine," said the Irishman. "Fair enough," said the boss. "Here's your second question. Use the same rules, but this time the number is 99." The Irishman stared into space for a while, then picked up the picture that he has just drawn and made a smudge on each tree. "Ere you go." [attachmentid=23818] The boss scratched his head and said, "How on earth do you get that to represent 99?" "Each of da trees is dirty now. So, it's dirty tree, and dirty tree, and dirty tree. Dat is 99." The boss was getting worried that he's going to actually have to hire this Irishman, so he said, "All right, last question. Same rules again, but represent the number 100." The Irishman stared into space some more, then he picked up the picture again and made a little mark at the base of each tree and says, "Ere you go. One hundred." [attachmentid=23819] The boss looked at the attempt. "You must be nuts if you think that represents a hundred!" The Irishman leaned forward and pointed to the marks at the base of each tree and said, "A little dog came along and crapped by each tree. So now you got dirty tree and a turd, dirty tree and a turd, and dirty tree and a turd, which makes one hundred." "So, when do I start?"

This weekend see sports relief taking place. Any of you near the Banbury area may want to call along to Sainsburys between 09.00 and 15.00. Graham Malings car will be on display. Unfourtunately Mick Sworder has work commitments but there is still a possibility that his car may be onsite with Grahams. You can see details of this event on the www.briscaf2.com page and click the latest news link. Brisca have been kind enough to help us out raising the profile of sports relief - if anyone wants to donate to the Sainsburys Banbury fund please drop me a pm Thanks Watto

Taken from Moneysupermarket.com The pros and cons of moving to a new deal Moving to a new deal can present problems as the provider you are leaving will not want to lose your custom, while the broadband company you are moving to wants you to change as quickly as possible. Your current provider could employ retention strategies such as offering you a better deal to stay. Nothing should deter you from moving however, if you are unhappy with the level of service you get from your existing provider. That´s why moneysupermarket.com has compiled a changing broadband provider guide to help you through the process of moving including understanding the small print, how to speak to your current broadband provider and what to do to make the change. The lesson that can be learned from the TalkTalk issues is that it makes sense to consider all of the options available. Don´t just jump on a great new deal, chances are if you´re doing it, a lot of other people are doing it too and this can create problems. Instead look at all of the options and consider smaller broadband companies too, many of which include excellent customer service and 24hr helplines. Look at the complete broadband picture and not just the cheapest deal – find the offer that´s right for you.

Whatever you do steer clear of Virgin broadband if its not on cable. Before I left them I got a honest!!! yes honest customer service advisor who told me that they had taken on too many customers too quickly and couldn't provide the advertised speeds and that there was little hope of it improving. I am sure the likes of Kendo and some others would back this up. Broadband is probably as big a nightmare as mobile phone contracts. You could check out Money Supermarket, they have a broadband providers section. Whatever you do don't get tied into long contracts unless you are ultra confident in the provider. I have choosen to go with Eclipse - Why - no 12month contract - a UK based customer service and a sales team that took me through all the options taking time out to check that it would support my needs. To be honest it does depend on BT and the quality of the exchange - most are old an out dated - but you get what you pay for. I would rather pay a touch more but know if needed a service advisor will help!

Rikard, Thanks for the reply - I only turn things off as per the guide to connecting to the server found on the uk dirt homepage: ( As follows) Connecting to Super-Server There isn't much difference between practice nights and race nights. The procedure is pretty much the same with exception of the chat and that the race manager will tell you where to go. On race nights everyone follows the following procedure: * At the advertised start time we all meet up in the UK-Dirt IRC Chat Channel(configuration details available to members). * The grids for heat races will be available to members on the forum, on the day of the meeting. The race manager will tell people when and where they should go for races. You must be a member to view the actual IP adress and the server password. * When told to go and race, close everything down: o Chat. o Firewalls. o MSN. o Virusscanners including the automatic updates. o Windows updates (automatic). o and any other programs that you have running which uses bandwidth. o You should consider using EndItAll to close hidden programs. * When in game, at the first menu, make sure that your name and number are entered in the bottom right hand corner, and click on MULTIPLAYER. So should this not be done? Any help appreciated

Sorry All, Am really puzzled but thought as I couldn't find a simple solution I thought it best to withdraw from the meeting so as not to ruin anyones enjoyment. Prob better posted on Computer help but basically nobody thought I was warping but as praccy went on cars were floating. I joined the meeting - Ping of 32 when I signed in. Just about to roll and I dsco'd - hadn't lost my net connection so unsure what had happened Hope you all had a good one and it didn't cause Counter too many issues with GN's etc. Turned my anti virus back on after I quit and it immediately started a scan and found 3 security risks. After recent events am now concerned about turning off the anti-virus stuff to race. Could it be linked? Thanks and cya all soon. Watto

Only people I know that have been hacked are members on here to scrapman. Nobody else in my list of contacts has been done. Quiet strange to be honest as only approx 10 contacts on dirt - 2 I know of hacked. Approx 50 non dirt contacts - none hacked. Who knows - but I am sure the person who hacked me was in Japan/China as all email requests etc for password changes when I got my account back were in funny writing. The low life was using my ebay account to sell buy it now items with immediate payment but obviously didnt have the items to sell. Ebay as far as I am aware have passed the isp address used to the relevant authorities.

After being hacked to pieces the other week I obviously am taking notice of every little thing Norton finds - what is a tracking cookie? Can it take down any personal details? How do I get shot of it? Norton deletes it each time I run a scan but the next time it is back there. Any help appreciated Thanks Watto

Hello all, If anyone thinks I haven't been around on messenger for a while then there is a reason. It would appear that some filthy low life has hacked my live id. If anyone has me added on messenger and I appear online could you let me know through here as I am trying to get my Live ID closed through microsoft to prevent any further issues. If this has happened to anyone else or anyone has any top tips for me on what I should do next that would be great. I am unable to retrieve and password info or anything at present. Unfourtunately I am in the middle of a run of 10 12hr nightshifts so time is very sparse to resolve Thanks Watto
