  1. I think the Grid and DiRT collision detection is some of the best in games at the moment. A 'UK banger racing game' will never happen in the sense we'd all like it to (i.e. big budget game, on one of the main platforms that a decent company would do a good job of). No games company, especially one as prolific as Rockstar would ever develop a game that would only appeal to a UK market, and I think it's pretty safe to say that this sort of racing game does not have mass market appeal, or we'd have tons of DD style games. Even a sport as popular as rallying can't sell games unless it all western-ised like DiRT2 was. Just my opinion anyway and it'd be cool if it did happen.....

  4. Great work guys!
  5. Just sent mine in...... like Dazza says, hope this gets the support; its one of my favourite annual ukdirt events! Always provides a great read!
  6. INTERESTING ARTICLE Excellent timing from Microsoft...... besides, their consoles still work offline and MW2 has a whole 6-hour campaign to sink their teeth into haha!
  7. Great pictures Tosh!
  8. Well done Tom on your silver roof win tonight! You've had a great season and nobody could touch you in the shootout. I'm sure you'll do the silver roof proud!
  9. Excellent write-up! Been a great season - I've had a strange one really, lead the NS for the majority of it's run but only won two races all year! Come close to a final win Bradford shale, nearly took the Tarmac Masters at Ipswich and had the most stressful set of shootout meetings that I could've imagined. Still, I am glad I can still challenge Tom for the silver at BV, although I have to admit it looks highly unlikely! Hopefully all my bad luck is out of the way after the nightmares at Kings Lynn and Cov and I can at least make Tom sweat for it lol! See you all on Thursday!
  10. Season Length The season length sounds long, but it isn't at all that different from this year, which has flew by in all honesty! Sounds good to me Double Headers I personally hate these. After one meeting I've had enough and I don't think I'm the only one as I think the racing standards decrease in the 2nd one. It's a long long night of racing, and if the meetings take around an hour and half your looking at 8 til 11, not including any pre-meeting practice. It's kind of evening consuming! If we are to have some on the calender next year, I think we need to ensure that servers are set-up correctly every time for decent practice (especially when there are NS Shootout rounds!) and that meetings start on time (see below for more on that). Wednesday meetings Wednesday meetings don't really appeal to me now I'm a little bit more part-time than I used to be, but I don't see any harm in having them. I used to like the idea of the European being a little special because it was spread out between the Wed and Thurs; having other Wednesday meetings definitely takes off the shine. National Series I'm not really a champion of the national series or shootout in real life because I wear frankie-tinted glasses, but I actually quite like it in UKDirt! With a long 45 meeting season, that's a lot of grind for anybody who wants to challenge for the title, so much like the real thing, you won't get many challengers step up! This year has been quite good I think, with a nice little bit of competition mid-season to get into the shootout followed by the shootout itself. Sure, the shootout hasn't really 'kicked off' like we may have liked and the man who has won the grading points will probably win the silver too, but I think it's given a little more meaning to the end of the season that wouldn't have been there if we went off the grading points. If the shootout is kept in real life, I'd say keep it in UKDirt! World Final Qualifying Rounds at the end of the season Probably got a few more bookings when things would usually be winding down and bookings would be dropping off. They do what they are there to do and that's fine by me! Anything else 1/ Sorry to sound a little grumpy on this one, but meetings should start at the advertised start time. Everybody knows when that is, so if they haven't got all the correct downloads or haven't turned up, we should go without them. We shouldn't be waiting until 8.45 to start. 8.30pm is the start time and there's 3 minutes waiting time for people to make it to the server unless they are in contact with another member and are genuinely being held up by a problem out of their control (unable to connect, game crashed, etc); even then there needs to be a limit. 2/ I think with the reduced number of members, the 'as-and-when' skinpacks worked better than the monthly style I used to do. However, saying that, I think skinpack needs to be compiled into one skinpack at every grading period to reduce the backlog of downloads if you have to reinstall your game, or start your season in October etc. 18 small ones is too much. 3/ Keeping the skinpacks in one thread at the top is neat and ensures that everybody knows what's out. However, reinforcing my earlier point, people often miss it up there which leads to meeting hold ups and much confusion! I would suggest 2 things: when a skinpack is added to that thread, there should also be a list of who is included, so people can pinpoint the one they are missing easier. Secondly, all skinpacks could have a separate individual announcement thread with capital letters and lark so people don't miss them.... hopefully (keep the sticky thread, but just have announcements too to ensure it stands out). Sorry to be grumpy on some stuff, but I suppose that's what the thread is for! Having said all that, there really isn't much to complain about! The league has ran very well all year. It doesn't matter how many times it's said, it's still good to remember what a commitment admin work is, and what a massive task it is to keep the league running smoothly week after week. You do a great job, keep it up guys! Cheers MoR
  11. MoR137 s/s booking in please.
  12. Excellent work Dave, deffo going in the update! Great skin too Tosh!
  13. Great pics Tosh!
  14. Thanks for two great meetings guys, enjoyed myself last night, even if I was a little frustrated. Thought the GNC race was really good, kept myself out of trouble first bend, was swiftly moved aside by a flying Johno a lap or so later and spent next few laps watching Johno reel Tom in. As Tom hit traffic, Johno mounted an attack, but unfortunately got into a half spin, which then collected me. I took a bit of damage to the FR wheel but set about chasing Tom but he had more speed and managed to maintain around a second and a half gap til the end. A great race nonetheless I thought. Depressingly, that's my 15th UKDirtF1 championship podium with only one win to my name, and I've got a good chance of making that 16 the way the shootout is going! Lol, isn't Kev's site great for those sort of statistics, depressing or not!? Think I'll be changing my UKDirt alias to 'Mr Nearly'. I felt I had some terrible luck over the course of the KL meeting, which was ashame when I was playing my joker, and I really only managed to show what I was capable of around lynn during the GN. Well done to Tom for driving a good meeting and doubling his 24 point lead to 48; he may have sealed the silver roof with that one. However, with two rounds to go, it's not quite done and dusted yet and if me and Kruiz can nibble away at that lead at Cov, we'll both be able to challenge for the prize at the double points Finale. With 50 points on offer for a BV final win, that lead can be beaten down if Tom fails to score in that race alone! Hopefully it'll be a great climax to a hard fought series!
  15. MoR137 s/s please
  16. MoR137 superstar please
  17. Thanks Kev for a great meeting. The British Championship was an absolutely brilliant race, the lead changing bend after bend. Certainly one of the best, if not THE best race I've been involved in. Still grinning now! Think Kev had the best seat in the house! Great stuff Mike, Robin, TomD, Johno and Speedtech. Well done Mike, recovered well after the mid-race setback! See you all next week.
  18. MoR137 S/S Booking in.
  19. Cheers Wrighty!
  20. MoR137 S/S please.
  21. Well done Dazza!
  22. Excellent, a great read!
  23. Excellent stuff as always!
  24. Sorry Mart, it's not possible I'm afraid, we never added this functionality. If you have seen an rfactor screenshot without a wing, the screenshot-taker had been a very naughty person with our files lol.
  25. Fantastic work Cowie! Looking forward to giving it a blast on my wheel. Does it come with Andy Smith's sore neck?
