    Warping

I would suggest you do a hijack this scan and see exactly what is running and check out any dodgy looking entries.
  2. If running wireless then consider what application you are using to control your wireless connection. Some are more prone to lose connection than others. Using ethernet has to be the most reliable option but its not always convenient.

    NEW PC

I copied the whole hasbro folder over from one pc to another and it worked fine. If you do get problems then the essentails file can be used ok...but run something like hot rod skinpack first or one with a full ui so you get the proper controls for online use.ps dont forget to locate the hasbro folder in the program files folder. Once you have it running fine offline then if your comp is dual processor then check up in the forum for details of setting the affinity or you are likely to get online crashes etc.
  4. Not an expert but theres an awful lot of stuff early on in the log which is rarely seen in other crash logs. Log seems to report the system being run on a windows 95 or 98 system.. assume its a windows 98 se or it wouldnt be handling usb the way it does. Even so ...on 98 se there are many driver problems associated with running usb devices. Also worrying is that xphelper programmes of some description are also being ran....why xp stuff on a 98se system again is an issue that can cause problems. Another thing is that a router is also being used and these will certainly need port forwarding rules setting up to create/host games as they have inbuilt firewalls..or the use of dmz with the risks that involves. You can run heat fine with 98se but really it would help having a clean system. The german language does not help as many of us wont have a clue with it. Suggest cleaning the system thoroughly and installing xp as that should give a much more stable base for using usb devices and wireless routers . Then of course set port forwarding rules on the router. I would also suggest using "Hijack This" and getting a log which may make things clearer for ppl to help.
  5. I am real lucky when it comes to the microsoft software..I have the full office 2000 package in its deluxe edition with all the extras (this includes stuff ) not in later editions or budget ones and stuff that wasnt at all included in the xp 2003 editions of office. I have that as well ..and excell is included in that. Does come in useful for the college course my partner is doing and some further education that I am doing.. For doing points charts, once set up, an awful lot of time is saved.

    error log

First question...does your new pc have a dual core processor .If so then you will need to run the game with only one of the cores selected. How to do this is posted in another part of the computer help forum. I too have a new dual core pc and had similar problems of it crashing half the time in multiplayer mode. Since using the fix I have had no problems.
  7. You mention bangers... so if you have downloaded and installed everthing correctly you should have a banger heat car manager icon on your desk top. Click on that to select a skinpack . Then in the mod launcher select uk dirt bangers and launch the game. The main skinpacks for bangers only contain drivers texts for novice cars in most cases. The special meeting packs and farinas normally have full drivers texts so best select them for offline racing. If you give more details then your problems can be sorted easier.
  8. I actually quite like the humber hearse. However it is tricky to get it looking right in game as the template is not one of the better ones and you do need to use colour schemes that suit it. What people do need to realise though is that a "Template" is really just a guide or tool to help you produce a skin. I have altered the template I use by copying and pasting in a chrome grille and bumper and then by changing the shading in various places and delineating the bonnet lines. The in game look is much improved by doing this and using seperate colours for front wings and bonnet. Looking carefully at the front end and the proportions dont look quite right for a supersnipe front end and may be more in line with a hawk front end. I hope to adapt the template to give a hawk version ( I remember Rob Bakers all steel hawk hearse at hedno's first ever pre 67 meeting).
  9. Having just checked out on IP NUMBERS I have found out that my number changes each time I log on and therefore my server is a dynamic type rather than a static type. Does anyone know wether I can still host or not considering I can obtain the IP each time I log on so therefore others should find me for that session if given the IP number???
  10. Mcrew..you have re directing software sending you to the wrong search sites. Also these rogue programmes do their best to avoid detection by blocking antivirus progs etc running. Will take another look at you hijack this list to see if the redirecting stuff can be identified and some sort of way to deal with it.
  11. more stuff for Hotrod331 to deal with; in 016 area of log...."drivecleaner"............not as clever as it says it is...and it doesnt tell you what other things its doing without you knowing. Another thing that causes me concern. In the 04 section there is a bit where it calls up in program files "Ijrkz\Aobdw.exe" now that may be a legitimate program...or it may be something dodgy that uses a random name to escape detection but contains malicious code. The way it is installed makes it run from start up. Check it out ..it may be safe or may be a big cause of your problems!!!
  12. 2 more nasties spotted for Hotrod331. again identified problem progs and shown in 016 part of log "dlmanager.akamaitoools" "aka.imgfarm" some of these are known to be linked with the" NO" funwebproducts group of irritating programmes.
  13. mcrew............you certainly have some dodgy stuff on your comp. One definite TROJAN is there at least in the 016 part of the log. the "acceso masminutos" is a known naughty prog. use a search to find out how to remove. Hotrod 331....... you got some nasty adwares plus possibly other stuff on your comp. 2 dodgy progs exist and are shown in the 016 part of the log. they are "MyWebSearch" and also "ErrorGuard" as with above use an online search for advice as to how to remove. Will look thorugh the logs a bit more later..hope it helps.
  14. McREW.....looking through your hijack this lists..I noticed a common source of trouble appearing in both logs. That being ...FUN WEB PRODUCTS... it appears in the 016 parts of the log.. from previous experience there may be several other rogue progs associated with it. I would suggest using spyware removal progs...to help identify the various naughty bits. Personally I have trawled through system and common folders checking for dodgy stuff (using dates and times when progs were modified/created ) etc to identify dodgy stuff and then removedf it and any associated registry entries. Good luck on sorting it.

    wellbent

I dont use photoshop or paintshop so dont really know much about using them,,Yet I paint decent banger skins with a good reliable easy to use prog that works fine on windows 98, xp, etc. The forum is about skinpainting and meant for the sharing of advice tips etc and to showcase the artwork used in making uk dirt skins. The programmes and methods used may vary but in the end if decent results skinwise are produced then that is what matters. I have nowhere to go for advice on using the prog that I use but no doubt there is much about for photoshop users including magazines and books. It would help though if those more experienced skinpainters were more tolerant of those less experienced who are still learning the art of skinpainting. Encouragement and helpful criticism should be welcomed as I for one much prefer to race online against well painted cars and this forum helps towards that aim. Be reasonable though to all when making requests or posting replies and the whole forum benefits. Enjoy your racing and your skinpainting.
  16. Lee first started out at the Bulkington charity track in early 90's as a member of the Canley Crew, loosely linked to the warriors. One meeting featured a team event spread over several races and I guested for Malc Gilbert's Boatyard team. The format of the event meant the Canley Crew were several cars up for the final. After the opening laps the Canley Crew were 5 cars to 2 up. Malc Gilbert in an xj6 and myself mk5 cortina est 2 litre. Both sides lost a car leaving myself as sole running Boatyard car. A determined effort put paid to all their cars except Lee's in a mk5 tina saloon and despite many attacks he held on to take the win. His ability to evade being cuaght standing out while he was still very much a rookie against an old hand at the time.. The Canley Crew colours were an all over yellowish brown. (regular warrior drivers Phil Rogers and Karl Williams guested for the Canley Team that day.)

    wolzy

I have not had any problems with the wolzy template. I paint on flattened templates using micrografx so do not disturb positions unless extremely clumsy. Try downloading the template again and see if the same happens to the next skin you paint using that.
  18. reg 126 signing up to race a stock rod. Skinpainting underway.
  19. Great little model well worth trying out. My son(9) helped in knocking up a skin and loves using it in offline games and its become his fave car already!!! Hope some more quality cars like this come along..mercedes??? would be nice.
  20. I am lucky enough to have Micrografx Picture Publisher with Micrografx Windows Draw 6LE. They came free as bundled software with a scanner and a printer . Its very easy to use and very capable and much more user friendly than paintshop or photoshop. I still use picture publ;isher side to process scanned images and photos as its much better than other stuff i have tried. As for skinpainting the software is very suitable and easy to use. Though it has its own fonts and shapes system I normally use Microsofts Powerpoint wordart and other graphics package for signs and other add ons , by just copying and pasting in and merging as appropriate.
  21. [attachmentid=11083]Here you go. Not painted one myself yet as I want to change the back end to show the rear light clusters open and not got round to sourcing a piccy to raid it from. Volvo_262_Coupe.zip
  22. Looks most promising. I think you need to try using other interior colours though to contrast with the external paint job .
  23. Few thoughts on Rebels . Well only one model would be needed. Set ups if based on real Rebel cars would be very limited with virtually no suspension mods and other changes not allowed you wouldnt have much room to alter anything much more than tyre pressures.
  24. I use the old but easy to use Micrografx software for skinpainting and its airbrushing function is very capable and simple to use. Like Hazy says though ...it takes skill and practice to use it right to get the desired effects..in some ways more so than in real life due to the merging effects to get a real quality skin. He is also right about some of the so called "skin painting services". While some of the skins are good with signs properly merged etc some others are clearly not merged and detail is lost underneath and the sign "sticks out" rather than blending in. No doubt people who want skins doing( through not knowing how or having the right software) are grateful to have skins painted for them but this doesnt mean the skins are top quality.
  25. As I dont use either of the 2 commonly used progs (paint shop or photoshop) I tend to use a different method. My micrografx prog was designed to be compatible with the microsoft office progs so I can construct text in WORDART when using powerpoint. To get text to bend round wheelarches I copy and paste the unfinished skin or part of it ..into powerpoint and then use wordart to get the curves right etc. The resulting wordart image can then be copied and pasted onto the skin back in micrografx prog when it can be merged as appropriate.
