erik Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 I started this today, using Nick M's tutorial. The next thing on the tutorial is extruding the door pillars. Comments welcome. I think I might be "trying to run before I can walk", but would this thing be any use if I finished it?
erik Posted July 28, 2006 Author Report Posted July 28, 2006 fiesta? No its a shoebox with holes cut in it.
The London Allstar Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 i havent got any new shoes that dont have a shoe box already so no....
Rikard Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 but would this thing be any use if I finished it? It depends on how good it is, same as my Mercades i made, as in my case your first project is usally just a learning curve, and the second attempt will be much better Good to see your having a try

How are you getting on with the Merc?
erik Posted July 29, 2006 Author Report Posted July 29, 2006 I have now completed the tutorial up to getting the model in game. Allan268 Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 (edited) Can you provide a link to the tutorial. When i done it before it was only half completed. Ps. This is how far i got.. Edited July 29, 2006 by Korizin268
Rikard Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 How are you getting on with the Merc? I havn't done any more work on it for the last month, im stuck, believe it or not iv done way to many pollys in the first stage so iv kinda buggered myself cause i can't do the damage with the pollys iv got left, so iv just kinda left it, iv already invested 35+ hours getting it to this stage [attachmentid=7938] [attachmentid=7939] [attachmentid=7940]
Rikard Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 just to add that if anyone has some decent photos of a stipped banger then il have a go at making it, just send me the photos and il get modeling, iv learnt a lot from making the merc so the second one should be much better and hopfully be released in UK Dirt, so if there is a car you want made for the game PM me with some decent referance photos and il try my best at it
tilly Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Looks well good for 1st attempt so can only get better
The London Allstar Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 It looks great riakrd, shame about the pixels
erik Posted July 29, 2006 Author Report Posted July 29, 2006 Good effort Rikard, it looks great for a first attempt. Mine is poor, and I have pretty much given up on it. Can anyone tell me how to view how many polys I have used? And also, does anyone know where I can download 3ds Max 3?
Guest Scrapman53 Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Looks like you've used about 10 polys Eric. And as for 3DSMax3, I don't think you can download it. It's about 1500 quids worth.
lenny Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 rikard, what pics would you need? obviously, totally straight from each side, what else?
Rikard Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 Can anyone tell me how to view how many polys I have used? And also, does anyone know where I can download 3ds Max 3? Follow the buttons that have been highlighted by the red dots.... [attachmentid=7968] does anyone know where I can download 3ds Max 3? I don't know, as far as im aware there is no longer the trial avaible as its a very old version, so maby have to get it on Ebay or somthing, iv been searching and found nothing rikard, what pics would you need? obviously, totally straight from each side, what else? A picture from the front, rear and preferable both sides (at least one side) they have to be very good square on photos, also they have to be stripped for banger racing, ie no bumpers, and the car has to be plane, ie not painted for racing with no numbers or paint scheme, otherwise you have to mess about in photoshop for hours doing the template and it would just look messy. The photos would best be in a high resolution and .bmp format (as they are higher quality) and also lots more reference photos of all around the car so i can see the shape of it and make the model more accurate. But if you have any photos just send them anyway as i may be able to use them. I would really like to do a Vauxhall Omega, as they are 3 litre rear wheels drive strong cars, but if you have the photos il consider doing anything
mitch28 Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 lol Scrappy, I like your sense of humour, your posts always seem to make me chuckle! Kruiz i strongly suggest you edit your post

Tombo209 Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 Hello erik are you a ministox driver it said its not finished and that means ive not done all the detail on the wheels what wheels do you run on your mini 5spokes ? must be mad good look to you
erik Posted July 30, 2006 Author Report Posted July 30, 2006 (edited) Hello erik are you a ministox driver it said its not finished and that means ive not done all the detail on the wheels what wheels do you run on your mini 5spokes ? must be mad good look to you I might not be able to race again, but thanks anyway. I ran white "8 spokes", which was what the car had when I got it. I've always thought they looked better than the ones some of the drivers I saw at Yarmouth used. But sadly Weller no longer supply such wheels , well, not 10 inch ones anyway. Edited July 30, 2006 by erik
Tombo209 Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 does it matter what it looks like aslong as it goes better and i heard its getting hard to get wellers now as we tryed ordering some the other day
erik Posted July 30, 2006 Author Report Posted July 30, 2006 does it matter what it looks like aslong as it goes better and i heard its getting hard to get wellers now as we tryed ordering some the other day Are you suggesting that the wheels they use down there are better than the 8 spokes? The wheels are the one part of my car that look anything like decent
erik Posted July 30, 2006 Author Report Posted July 30, 2006 Weller still make 10" wheels........ Yes but not 10" 8 spokes.
Tombo209 Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 weller 8 spokes show us a pic erik, or do you mean the old version?
erik Posted July 30, 2006 Author Report Posted July 30, 2006 (edited) This picture shows the ones I mean, and I have about 5 or 6 of the said wheels. Edited July 30, 2006 by erik
